Thanks for all the information guys. I think that this trip is a no go for us, but hope that those who are going have a great day, and roar us into the hat for the next round!

Pedants corner. It's a Railway Station, not a train station. So there. ah, now I know how these 'mind readers' can tell you things about yourself like 'you've not got a boyfriend'

Just tried their website and got this message "You have reserved a place on this specific service, but individual seat reservations are not possible"

They are geared up to people taking short journeys, unlike say a longer distance train where seat reservations are quite normal and well organised. Unless some bright spark at the railway company lays on extra carriages...

Why don't Gasheads email great westerns customer services with there concerns as I have seen longer trains on this route if we all do this the will see the demand and may get something sorted !

You would hope that first great western will put on a couple of extra carraiges for this. They sometimes do during the summer for this train so hopefully they are aware of this weekend. As others have said the train is usually 2 carraiges and if its only that on Saturday there will be people left behind on platforms. Forget about being able to get on at Keynsham or Bath.
An e mail to first great western is probably a good idea.
However my lot are going out of our way to get on it at Yate as it stops there before parkway or temple meads, just in case like!

Surely they will be aware of demand by the sale of tickets online?! Let's hope they sort out an extra carriage, it could be madness Saturday morning!

Idiots didn't even read my e-mail correctly. I asked if there would be extra carriages on the 10.03 from Oldfield Park due to the number of people planning to travel from Bristol onwards on this train, and this was their reply. "Unfortunately there will be no extra trains for this particular match and I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

If they aren't told the only time they will notice is when disgruntled passengers complain at Bath on Saturday that they bought tickets and can't get on the two carraige train because it is rammed.
