Utterly pointless that was.
As I understood it, it was supposed to be about a group of supporters coming up with ideas to help the club shift some gear. As it turned out it was just Barry telling us about his wonderful relationship with his friends Mann Brothers in West Bromwich. The relationship from what I can gather consists of Barry going to Mann Brothers, Mann Brothers telling Barry what he should buy, Barry buying it and then Rovers having a load of Errea stuff.
People in the committee spoke about the idea and really need for non-branded discrete Rovers clothes, think Fred Perry style polo shirts and tshirts with a small bit of Rovers related branding (1883 was muted with various other designs including a cross with RVRS in each quarter) but nothing over the top. Barry wasn't having any of it, Bristol Rovers should be on there somewhere. After all we weren't designers or experts in the field. Which does beg the question why were we there?
Then came the talk of bar scarves, now I know a lot of folk on here are of the generation that bloody love bar scarves. That said, I'm 28 and I bloody love bar scarves! What's not to love, they're cheap, they're cheerful and they are probably the most quintessentially English football supporting accessory. No words, no bull s**t, just lovely blue and white bars. Barry again wasn't happy with this "surely it needs to have Bristol Rovers somewhere otherwise you can just buy it off of eBay". That's the point Barry, people are.
He then basically started getting a bit grumpy with having to deal with people questioning him, it was pretty hilarious to be honest and showed exactly why nothing will really change on that front. Now, I'll be looking to sort some stuff soon and hopefully get some things sorted. I mentioned four legends in the summer, I'll be getting onto that. We deserve a bit more than tshirts with meerkats on. I'm off to eBay to buy a bar scarf.

Well if that's the response you got, (i) that's disappointing but (ii) not really that surprising.

Yes, bar scarves.
The ones we get always seem to have to have letters on each bar to spell out Pirates or Rovers. They look far too messy and cluttered. I prefer the minimalist look. If it has to have a reference to BRFC then just have the badge or something on the last bar of each end. Other than that leave the blue & white bars as they are - looks far more smarter.
I still wear the huge old, Dr Who length, one my dear Gran knitted for me back in the early 80s.

Someone gave me a bar scarf but it's just not long enough so I carry on wearing my Bristol Rovers scarf.

The fact that here we are all these months later and, as far as I can tell, nothing has been done, tells you all you need to know about Barry's ability and desire to move Rovers on from their 'car boot' retail operation.

Sounds about right, get fans on board (people who will actually be buying your stuff) and don't listen to or consider one single idea put forward. What a tosser BB is.
Anyway as suggested above, I have just brought a bar scarf on Ebay. Plain, simple, just blue and white. What the people want.

This is what bs10er said on gaschat
I was there tonight at the fans retail panel and for a time it did get uncomfortable. BB lost it for a while and questioned if it was going to do any good. This I think(and everyone agreed)was in part due to 2 people who were attending for the 1st time ,and to be honest just would not shut up! They ended up walking out, which we all thought was not the thing to do. Meeting continued in a much better vein after that. The fans there really want to make this work. I know there have been lots of suggestions on forums,Dins baby stuff for instance, but we cannot do everything at once, otherwise we would have a list as long as your arm! It is early days and we all have to work at how this is going to proceed. We have agreed to start with a T shirt/polo shirt/bar scarf with a new design,a more discrete logo(probably 1883),the soft of stuff you would not mind wearing out to somewhere other than a football match. Meeting again at the end of the month to look at some final designs(which we hope to get out to fans to check out)and would really like it if a local company(Rovers fans?)could produce. Aiming to have this stuff for sale by mid November(?) We did also talk about kids stuff, but mainly stuff kids could buy with their pocket money,a couple of good ideas there, and someone bought along some examples which we were keen on. We all hope it will be a case of "little acorns" To be honest I think there is a touch of "why change what we have already got 'cause it sells" by the club, hopefully if it does work, this will change. To sum up,if it goes to plan, you will see some new BRFC gear before Christmas.

There's always two sides to every story, and with differing opinions obviously some people disagree with the process and think it's not for them.

People want just plain ones Sprout, no nonsense on it, just plain... With respect, you THINK people want plain ones. Many people i'm sure liked the one pictured above. I think we need a more balanced view when making decisions on merchandise.

Were you one of the people who walked away from the meeting? Certainly was, three did. I'm pretty sure the whole point of the meeting was to give the impression of a democracy, why Barry was there I'll never know. It would have been a lot better to have an independent committee sit down and thrash out ideas before showing them to the relevant people. Barry seemed more interested in keeping Mann Brothers happy than the supporters. I wasn't trying to change any of the current merchandise just appeal to people that don't want anything currently on sale. Rovers cater for people that will buy anything with the badge on, not those who want to be a little more concealed with their fandom. A polo shirt without Bristol Rovers written all over it was a hard concept for Barry. We all agreed that a black polo shirt with 1883 on it in a small font (think similar size to a Fred Perry/Ralph Lauren shirt). After around forty minutes on it Barry finally relented to "consider it". When the majority of the people agree on something on a committee it's surely worth listening to them?

Istm, the point is, if some people want a plain scarf and some people want a logo'd scarf, sell both.

"...because people are buying them from eBay..."
