This idea, disappeared along with the top to bottom review of the club, and the chairman being open and talking regularly with the supporters. IMO the sooner the chuckle brothers are off-ski the better. UTG

What a complete farce.
Ask a group of supporters.
Ask the shop staff.
Then just get on with it. New product should be on the shelves already.

Personally, I have never brought any kind of polo/T-shirt from the club shop in my adult life, because frankly...they are always naff.
As has been said above, as a late 20's kind of dude, I don't want to go around wearing clothing that has BRISTOL ROVERS FC plastered all over it. Not even on a match day. Perhaps keep that for the kids range.

Weird, as I was wondering why we don't have our own range, but I think you need to think about what you're going to have as the logo.
Granted it's from Bristol Rovers, but would you like the wider audience wearing it? Or just exclusive to us? You need to look at top popular brands, and look at their logo, eg, Jack Wills, All Saints, Lacoste etc, they are all just small simple icons, small and subtle means it might be high quality, so can charge a bit more (granted you don't want to out price your own).
But what if it was just had a sword? Pointing downwards, I think a scull/pirate would be too obvious, and some may not like wearing it.
Also, what about putting BS7 (this could change to UWE if we move/or put the BS code of where Eastville was) on the neck, just below the collar on the polo's, this may encourage Bristolians to buy the product.

I thought that the retail idea was to sell quality product that is attractive to fans and others whilst making money out of it. So what if non fans buy it, perhaps they might ask what it mean and we might (or might not) get extra fans out of it.
I like the idea of quality wear with a simple logo like 1883. For purists put a couple of crossed pirate cutlasses behind the numbers.....

Sorry to read the OP by chewbacca but I am afraid you are just the latest in a long line of people who have offered to try to help make things better at Rovers but have been rebuffed. What IMO is needed in this area, and many other areas of the club, is specialist professional help. Someone who is at the top of their game in the sports merchandising business will know what the market trends are, where the products can be sourced competitively and how they should be sold. In my experience the real professionals in this business are inspirational people who will get your mind working in overdrive with new ideas and an approach which is both refreshing and exciting. My advice would be to seek out some industry professionals and sell them on the idea of a Bristol Rovers FC "rebranding" being a worthwhile project and get them along to address a merchandising committee meeting. Replace grumpiness with cheerfulness

If something is not clearly BRFC-themed why would I buy it in PL at a price probably significantly higher than "downtown"? I cannot imagine I'm alone in buying stuff in PL only to show my allegiance. I put money in the club's coffers in lots of other ways.

A lot of people I've spoken to want a Rovers shirt or top that Rovers supporters instantly recognise as a Rovers shirt but you can wear in pubs etc without raising an eyebrow. Everything stocked in the club shop jumps down your throat as being Rovers merchandise, there's no subtlety.

I do remember back at the turn of the century (blimey that sounds a long time!) there were a couple of nice polo shirts with the club badge on which were tidy without being obviously football related tops at first glance.I have called in a few times since (notably around play off final time) and there was nothing subtle - everything was plastered in logos/names etc, fine for youngsters but not really suitable for the more, how shall I say, mature supporter.

There have been complaints both on here and GasChat about the quality of products. Dido ~ some of us would like to buy Rovers related gear that is not in your face but has a decent quality. My sons rugby team have smart gear which is not in your face and they are just a small local team. The shirts are no more expensive that decent quality fashion shirts. Even when we have been on tour we have had tee shirts with the logo on but they are quality material that can we washed regularly without running or losing shape. And they are not expensive yet still look smart. And the players girlfriends buy the smaller sizes because of the quality and the fact they look smart without being expensive. We may be a conference side but we don't have to sell conference level/style clothing. Why not sell for all markets.

Whenever I'm in Pirate Leisure I go in with an open mind to maybe buy something other than match tickets and always leave disappointed. I'm mid 30s now and the replica kit/training gear etc just doesn't appeal to me any more. They could get money out of me and fail dismally.
To add to the above ideas, where's the nostalgia stuff? I own an Everton t-shirt commemorating Rotterdam '85 - where's the well designed stuff appealing to those of us who remember 1990 fondly? Who wants a Paul Randall/Vaughan Jones/Andy Tillson t-shirt? I'd have a look if they were any good.
But we've been saying this for as long as I've been supporting the club (20+ years)

According to Barry "Retro is just old fashioned"... Erm, yes...

When ideas were asked for on the Rovers facebook group,I suggested Retro stuff,I had meant with the old Virtute et Industria crest (clearly I am very old fashioned then). I agree with what some have said on here that the present merchandising is tat and naff,I would never wear anything with that pirate badge on anyway. I also agree about the plain bar scarves,I would wear one if I saw them for sale,I wouldn't wear the ones on sale now. Not really surprised by any of whats happened, its a shame but very predictable ( sadly),poor old Rovers they surely deserve better.

1990's isn't really retro though is it? Stuff like adidas originals are reissues of the 70s/80s sportswear which do look cool, the 90s were a bit naff generally.
