If he is over his knee problems it's catch 22 though, how does he get fit if he never plays? it seems mid week reserve question are out of the question with so many mid week 1st team game. If he isn't going to play surely he needs to go out on loan to get fit or he'll only spend another season on the side lines. therein lies a problem thats faced our Managers since Lawrence was here and moaned against, then supported removing any form of official reserve team football Occassional friendlies vs bits of kids - then people wonder why youngsters dont kick on. Doesnt just affect Rovers, but many many British clubs. We watched Browning, Stewart Taylor playing men's football against men like Barnes, Charlie Nicholas, Ray WIlkins and guess what they improved and went on the play hundreds of football league games. FA blue print to remove non EU cheap hanger on type players is a start, simply organising 6-7 mini leagues for reserves from Football League and Conference full time clubs would similalry improve stock of English qualified players

I'm guessing either: 1) His knee is shot and the club will soon be announcing he's retired 2) It's another Gill/Kenneth situation and he wants his contract paid off so he can sign elsewhere. Personally I don't think that this is the case, but who actually knows? You follow your gut feelings on these things, and mine tells me that he would very much like his spell with us to be successful. But in fairness that is not based on solid fact, just my personal feelings. Just as a matter of interest, how much time is left on Ryan's contract, does anyone know?

Look - if players are not selected they go and get some tea and return before the game So all the reports of players leaving the ground at 6.30, please add 'to get a salad wrap and fruit smoothie' Carry on Thanks for clarifying Manc. Also relieved to hear that those not playing don't risk the in-house catering suffered by the supporters!

He signed a two and a half year deal in Jan 2013. I personally would love to see him get back to full match fitness and be successful with us, he was hell of a signing then but maybe it's time for a new challenge and hopefully better luck with injuries.

This is the 2nd time a thread has been started implying that Ryan was walking out on the team and leaving the ground and then someone confirming that in fact he was still at the ground. None of this helps people's impression of him so can people try and be accurate with what they are saying about players e.g. in this instance make sure he has actually left before reporting he has. Ryan has been through enough recently without fans making up stories about him. It's unfair on him and unfair on his family.

Well I think its good that he is pissed off that he aint being selected. Shows he wants to be apart of the team and wants game time. Thats a good thing in my eyes. But if he went home then that is bad taste. He should be disappointed that he wasnt selected but still supporting the team and encouraging his team mates. If he did stay then fair shout to him.
At the moment I cant see where he would fit in, in the match day squad. Playing 2 inthe starting 11 and leaving 2 on the bench. I dont think you can drop Taylor. Cunnington is looking good. Harrison has become a bit of a super sub. Coming on and terrorising the tired defence with his pace and raw workrate. That leaves the final striker position on the bench between Brunt and White. White knows this level and is also not match fit so getting some minutes from the bench would be good. Brunt said a few weeks ago that he is fit and ready. So I would put White ahead of Brunt personally. It may do Brunt good to go out on a months loan somewhere, say Bath for example and prove his match fitness and that he is ready. Also I think this would give him some confidence too.

Brunt may say he is fit but he looks a shadow of the player he was in his first season.
If his 'match' fitness is an issue then he isnt going to improve sitting in the stands....
I personally dont rate Cunnington or White much so I hope we see the old Brunt again soon.

Seems to always try to do things the hard way, e.g. trying to flick the ball on to run on to himself, rather than finding a teammate. Cunnington keeps it simple, and almost always finds a Rovers player with his touch. A team player.

You have selective reading I see! 1) The bit you have in bold, key word BUT. But if he went home.... Therefore I am not saying or "suggesting" he did. 2) Why dont you read the last sentance of that paragraph?? I said "If he did stay then fair shout to him." I put that in red for you! Someone said he went home and someone said he didnt. I gave MY opinion on Brunt for BOTH, which I AM entitled to do. I havent repeated anything that is untrue. I just gave MY opinion on BOTH: if he DID go home AND if he DIDNT go home. Read the flipping comment properly instead of seeing something which CLEARLY isnt there. And you got the cheek to say I done something in bad taste. Jeez, some people. Read the comment next time yeah before having a go, it may save yourself giving out an apology later, which I am now due to receive.

Calm down dear, if you had read the previous article it was clear he hadn't gone home..... I entirely agree you are entitled to express your opinion and as I always do I read the whole of your comment but my opinion was there was actually no need to repeat something that didn't even happen.....Peace brother.....UTG ! .....and I'm really sorry for upsetting you

I think if you did actually spot that I said "If he did stay then fair shout to him" then you wouldnt have gone off on one accusing me of suggesting that he went home when I didnt suggest this (which you still dont seem to grasp). And you wouldnt have said it was bad taste what I said. Instead you would have realised that I was just giving MY opinion on both - if he did or didnt go home. There was no need for your rude comment. Now you are sweeping your error under the carpet by saying "peace brother... UTG". You should have thought this before posting your comment in the 1st place as you clearly wasnt thinking "peace brother" then were you. Oh well. Im glad I have your permission to be able to give MY opinion in the future. Thats ever so nice of you. Thanks dear. Peace brother.... UTG.

So it was all a misunderstanding afterall and there were no issues with Harrison's attitude last season LOL
Anyway back on topic can we really expect Brunt to accept a loan deal at lowly Bath, that's the problem now we're at Conference level where do we send former league players we need to loan out?

Thanks for the info gasfest, so he still has about nine months or so with us, all being well. Like you I would love to see him regain his fitness (and goodness knows that he deserves to, if effort is anything to go by), and I just hope that he does so in his remaining time with the club. As you say he was an excellent signing for us, different class.
