I think it was the most disgusting thing, and to think he was a Gashead! He should be permanently banned.

Hmmm, I think I smell s**t
However , yes it obviously shouldn't have happened, and we could be in trouble.
I have a feeling this thread will turn into a 'well what about City fans, they hit our players' type of thing, which of course isn't really the point, a player should be able to feel safe from attack while he is on the pitch, much in the same way as Braintree's defence was yesterday.

No defence (on & off the pitch!).
The fan should be banned from watching all football, and it wouldn't be surprising if this incident costs us a few points.
I said to a mate at FGR that a few of our idiots will cause mayhem at the smaller grounds this season! Here we go............

been reading the forum since it started and I find it interesting that there is never posts on things like this so I thought I would post. City in 96 wasn't it I remember they had sanctions restricting capacity and a fine! What has happened to rovers regarding Wycombe away Mansfield at home and now 2 incidents yesterday!

I had the misfortune to be standing near him at Altrincham, and he was pissing everybody off there. Some Rovers fans behind him, started chucking stuff at him. Would be happy to see him banned.

It hasn't been ignored, Carbonate; plenty of talk about it on the Match Day Thread, both here and over at Gaschat. And it's all been to condemn it. Also featured a lot on GT's phone-in on Radio Bristol. Listening to the description on the radio I assumed the 'fan' leaned over the fence to punch the Braintree player. Since then I've heard the incident took place in the goal net. In that case did he jump the fence, run on the pitch, round the post, to strike the player in the goal? Maybe someone who went can confirm this. From a chap on the phone-in, he thinks the bloke managed to escape and ran out of the ground. Surprised not to hear what happened to the player, whether he needed treatment, and whether he will press charges against this plank. EDIT: Watched the video now. See it was leaning through the net from the terraces, rather than running round onto the pitch.

And in no other profession would u get a punch for doing ur job. It's up to rovers fans to grass him up as I wouldnt have thought there was much cctv in that groud

FFS everybody, let's get a bit of perspective here!
Wycombe - Fans run on the pitch to celebrate what at the time we thought was staying up.
Mansfield - Fans run on the pitch in outrage that we have lost our league status.
Braintree - Player cons a penalty then turns to our fans laughing and winking. Fan loses temper and pushes him in the face.
Certainly not condoning the latter in any way, and whilst at the other two games, chose not to enter the field of play, but let's not make we're Millwall.
Lots of high horses around this morning that people need to jump down from.

You forgot Grimsby first game of the season mate. 40/50 Grimsby came down the road looking for trouble, threw a smoke bomb, masonary etc into innocent rovers fans, men, women and children and innocent bystanders. A few Rovers stood up for themselves and others,Grimsby got what they didnt expect, and ran the cowards towards the ground...but it was all the fault of every Rovers supporter there that day.
