Scott could of won us the game, but seemed to aim for the old Tote End clock, rather than the goal. What was he trying to do? Looked like he was in two minds whether to lob the keeper or just belt it goalwards, and ended up doing both. Probably thought if he puts that chance away he's got to face another week of MT being in charge! I do find it hard to believe a player who's scored at the very top now panics or gets caught in two minds at L1 level.

We seem to struggle anginst against skilful or hardworking teams.
That leaves us picking up scraps against similar teams to us.
There's nothing in recent performances to suggest this season is going to be any different from the last, a dead rubber (or worse) by the New Year.

First half we were up for it. The second,we looked like we were running out of steam. Could of won 6 4,but as it turned out we can be a little relieved with a 0 0. Not good enough. McCormick has come along recently, played well.Another day may of scored 2. The defence battled and kept concentration pretty well, just as well with Crawley becoming more and more dominant. Subs made no impact. Scott could of won us the game, but seemed to aim for the old Tote End clock, rather than the goal. Once that front footed, super competitive, battling ,tackling and running Rovers slacks off,we look really quite poor. Incapable of stringing a few passes together.Very beatable. Crawlys second half performance showed us how to move the ball, from defence,to middle and flanks then upfront. Joe Barton would of thought fair play to the Red Devils second half display. More of the first 45 minutes please Matt. Pretty much how I saw it. Hutchinson could have had 2, a bit unlucky with the 1st maybe but the 2nd has to score. Their keeper made several excellent saves but we should have scored 3 today, Sinclair in the 2nd half should do much better with his chance. Shaq maybe too. Crawley dominated 2nd half but on chances I don't remember them having as many or as straightforward as ours, Griffiths made a couple of decent saves, and some good defensive blocks I suppose. We looked like we'd ran out of steam, and the subs made us worse. It's hard work watching us at the moment, but a few positives were McCormick, Hutchinson, Shaq and Conteh in the 1st half. Mola I like a lot but his decisions today at times could have been costly. Maybe on another day those 2 that hit the bar go in and we win at a canter.

Match report by BRFC site - Bristol Rovers 0-0 Crawley Town - Sky Bet League One, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 16th November 2024
Bristol Rovers were held to a 0-0 Sky Bet League One draw at home by Crawley Town.
The Gas seemed destined to find the net in a frantic first few minutes as Isaac Hutchinson hit the woodwork and Luke McCormick saw a header tipped onto the cross-bar. The duo then linked up only for Hutchinson’s low effort to be well saved.
Crawley grew into the fixture and ended the contest the stronger of the two sides, with Josh Griffiths forced into a number of excellent saves in the closing exchanges.
But the fixture would end in stalemate, meaning consecutive league draws for Rovers.
Manager Matt Taylor made one change to his starting Xi from the draw with Lincoln City; an enforced one as the suspended Taylor Moore dropped out with Bryant Bilongo coming into the side.
It was an immensely positive opening to proceedings too as Rovers went on the hunt for an early lead. Hutchinson set the tone inside three minutes when his thumping effort crashed off the underside of the crossbar.
The returning Bilongo was heavily involved from the off too and twice whipped in teasing crosses for Luke McCormick to attack. The first was wide of the far post but the second, just minutes after, forced Crawley goalkeeper Connal Trueman into a tremendous save; tipping the header onto the woodwork.
The Pirates continued to press forward and brilliant work in the middle third from the home side allowed Shaq Forde to collect possession high and drive into the box. The forward went for goal with his right boot but a well-timed challenge saw the shot - otherwise certain to find the net - instead go behind for a corner.
McCormick was again involved moments later when he threaded in Hutchinson, with the No19 forcing another fine save by Trueman.
The visitors saw their chances largely limited but a last-ditch challenge from Bilongo was required to deny Panutche Camara after his turn into the Rovers penalty area. All level at the interval.
The first changes came a little over ten minutes into the second half with the introduction of experienced duo Scott Sinclair and Grant Ward, replacing Kamil Conteh and Hutchinson. It was the former with the first chance of note, playing a lovely one-two with Martin but getting his lobbed attempt wrong, sending the effort over the bar.
Promise Omochere made his return from injury midway through the second half, replacing Martin for his first appearance since the away clash at Reading.
Ronan Darcy fizzed a low effort wide of Josh Griffiths’ goal as the away side sought to punish the hosts for their missed opportunities and, as the match ticked into the final ten minutes, the No1 was in the right place to make a superb double-save to deny the visitors again.
The Reds looked the more likely to take the three points in the closing exchanges and, again, Griffiths had to be on hand to deny a fantastic strike - this time by Ibrahim.
But, despite the late push by both sides, the scoreline remained the same as it did at 3pm, with each taking a point for their efforts.

I watched at home, but fell asleep at half time and missed the whole 2nd half.
I've read some of the reports and I cant agree.
Ive been very critical of Taylor, but I thought the first half that we were excellent and played good football and created chances.
Crawley were one ot the best passing sides I've ever seen at th mem.If they had 2/3 top L1 players in their side then they would be at top 6 side.

But was impressed with both of us in the first half. We should had be 2 -0 up going into half time.

I wasn't surprised to see such a good passing game from Crawley Town. Before the match people had told me they keep possession well, the stats had shown this, and they'd recently beaten Lincoln City.
The first half they were ahead of us in possession, whereas everything else we were well ahead. Shots on goal was something like 9 to 2. In that first half, despite their possession, they didn't really threaten us. We controlled them well and often pushed them back, so they had to pass backwards.
Second half they had more zip and upped the tempo. Although it was disappointing near the end (especially that 'attacking' throw in), to see us walking to position, with no urgency, like for a rugby line-out, I think we were absolutely spent, absolutely knackered, and that comes from constantly chasing the ball around, with no sustained period of your own possession.
Our problems came from not taking our chances in the first half.
Don't write Crawley off - they are far from already down.

Did anyone else notice Crawley’s no.12 (Camara I think) looked like he didn’t have any shin pads on? I know a lot of players wear the really small ones nowadays but he didn’t look like he had any on at all. Was also built more like a marathon runner than a footballer!
Thought McCormick played really well and as often seems to happen with Taylor subs they didn’t really change us for the better. I noticed McCormick sat on the drinks box for a while after being subbed so wondering if he was a bit miffed to be brought off.
Should’ve been out of sight at half time so a really poor result and they quite easily could’ve nicked all 3 points at the end. It feels like Taylor is a few poor results away from the sack and with the tough run of games up for Christmas we could be firmly in a relegation battle by then but there are some signs that we have the quality to get out of it just can’t put the ball in the net often enough from the few games I’ve seen.
Final thought was it was disappointing to hear some of our fans giving Martin stick about his weight as he came by having being subbed - he’s never been slim or particularly mobile in his time with us so not sure how people think that is going to be productive 🤦🏼♂️

Fans looking for scapegoats always been the same and Martin is the latest as was Josh Grant last season
My major disappointment is lack of Jack Hunt action he really us taking the money and doing nothing.

It was one of the things that surprised me when he started playing for us.
People don't grasp that there are different body sizes and that people can look substantially overweight when they actually aren't. I've had this problem myself, even with medical doctors who should know better.
It is concerning that we frequently appear worse after MT's interventions, including the halftime talk. Players like Sinclair are ideally positioned to impact from the subs' bench.
Good to hear that McCormick's performances have picked up, not least because I have repeatedly championed him as a potentially important player for us.
Him ahead of Conteh and Lindsay is a potentially tasty CM combo. I've lost patience with Sotoriou and Omochere needs a rest.

Promise. I'm afraid unless he learns to head the ball better ( coaching from Connor Taylor might help ),his £500,000 transfer fee, looks very expensive.
I don't think he's worth £100,000.
I would of thought we would of learnt after the £50,000 spent on Lofty.

Last 6 games, 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats... Mid table mediocrity written all over it! I only read reports... But I think mid-table mediocrity could well be a bit of a stretch. Bottom third side. Probably too good to go down.

Probably too good to go down. Unless we find a goal scorer or two, that's about right Epping. It's upfront we need to improve. Defence has improved and the midfield is promising. Attack is not good enough. Yet.

It's been clear from Omochere's appearances that is not an out-and-out striker who will lead the line.
Find solace in the fact that if he is a player cutting in off the wing, which is the role Fleetwood fans ascribed to him, then heading really isn't that important.
We have seen his potential in this role, most notably against Charlton.
He needs time out of the team, and then MT needs to reintegrate him alongside Forde in a deeper-lying role, with both playing off of Martin.

Yep,maybe RITS. Agreed he's not a target man,at least when the ball is in the air.

Nice to see Gloss CCC with the T20 cup yesterday.
Some of the players will be away playing in sunnier climes during our Autumn/Winter, including I think James Bracey being down under again. They've already toured Bris Rugby, CTFC & Gloucester Rugby.
Perhaps the W-S-M games would have been a better time, with the 'Sea Glarmy' other song being 'Somerset la, la, la'.

A game of two halves. Perhaps made so by MT’s second half substitutions. Once Mola was booked we were in trouble and Crawley played on it. Left to wonder why MT did not swap Mola and Bilongo once the yellow card was issued.
