I like these Rovers finishing position prediction threads, although i'm no Nostradamus.
Hmm,right now, today,I think we're not exactly world beaters,I've a feeling the phrase "lack of quality " may be heard amongst Gasheads quite often, but we do have a squad of workers that will give their all.
I think it probable we'll improve as the season progresses.
I'll think about it a bit more before making my prediction.
Answers in before ko against the Cobblers please.

16th. The last 2 seasons have seen KP kingswood Polak with the best vision of the future. Will he be more pessimistic than me this time...

Flipping heck, some of those forecasts are depressing..... For me it's a reflection of how many good teams are in League 1 this season. The squad MT has put together over this summer would have probably pushed for a 6-10th place last season.

Genuinely have no idea how good or otherwise Taylor is as a manager or the players he has signed. A sitting on the fence 12th then - gradual improvement but another boring season

17th is probably the best we can hope for. Scoring enough goals to win a game is going to be a problem.

My guesstimate of 15th is based on the number of teams I thought we would finish above.
But of these I think Mansfield, Cambridge and Shrewsbury do have managers capable of achieving over performance.
The recruitment so far hasn’t been quite what I’d been expecting what with paying fees for some and with four of them, Omochere, Senior, Hutchinson and Sotiriou being over 23 and relatively well exposed in the EFL so not exactly fitting the bill for development and resale.
This made me look more closely at Matt Taylor’s record at Exeter where I’d thought he should be given credit for signing and developing young players and also bringing on young players from their Academy. But what I found surprised me because in the period 2018/19 to 2022/23 it looks as though he never actually paid a transfer fee and the average age of players signed was 28. Of the ten or so players 22 or under which were signed during this period only Sam Nombe seems to have been sold on for a fee. But Matt can take credit for bringing through Academy graduate Joel Randall who joined Peterborough for decent money after only playing 45 first team games.

I think we will do better than last season, maybe 10th-13th, I wouldn't be surprised if results are not great to start with though as we have had quite a high turnover of players, but hopefully by October things will be falling into place.

What is concerning is that pre season is over yet we don't really have an idea of our First XI.
Optimists might say that this talks to a squad that has strength in depth, pessimists might say that we don't have a clear plan. Realists might say that both these things are true.
Pragmatists might say that modern football is a squad game. Is it though? At 3rd division level? Naaah. 2 First team players in every position? Naaah
I'm also concerned that MT has mistaken the word "football", for "running" and the words "just lacking that bit of quality in the final third" are looming large in many a press conference.
Delighted to be proved wrong but we are unlikely to finish in the top third
