And my view is that all politicians should be held to account of whatever political persuasion. It is the hypocrisy and willingness of some to attack Labour after a short time in action whilst turning blind eyes to the Tories of 14 years and the actions of the Reform Party Ltd MPs who can do no wrong and they will defend to the hilt. Nobody has turned a blind eye to the incompetent Tories, which is why they got voted out. It's just that you mentioned only the Tories in your criticism. You never mentioned Labour. Your implication is that this was just a Tory habit, but I am just pointing out that Labour are just as guilty. As far as I am aware, Reform have not given any jobs in government to donors so why mention them? So now we are holding this Labour government to account, but all you can come back with is "what about the Tories"! Or Reform who only have 6 MP's! Less than 2 months in and "our Nige" accepts £30k odd to pay for a trip to the States, implausibly to support the "Orange" one in his hour of need. Then, even more hilariously, to put Clacton on the "World Stage" If that was a Monty Python sketch it would be rejected for being too silly. Others might suggest it is "False Accounting and Obtaining Money by Deception"...but I couldn't possibly comment. Has he set up his constituency office yet? Held a surgery? Anything...at all?

Oh dear. "Summer may be the time MPs head back to their constituencies, though that hasn’t stopped many members attending the social events of the season on all expenses-paid freebie tickets. The latest update to the Members’ Register of Interests has revealed our parliamentarians have been enjoying Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the Chelsea Flower Show, the Pet Shop Boys and plenty of football among other events. Here are some of the more interesting examples… Football proved a popular freebie for our MPs. In the cabinet alone, Keir Starmer, David Lammy, Jonathan Reynolds, Wes Streeting and Pat McFadden were amongst those bagging free tickets, usually on the padded seat of a hospitality box. Their visits alone were worth over £6,000. Score… Some of the summer’s biggest music events were also attended by our parliamentarians. Former Tory Chair Richard Holden bagged a camping ticket at Glastonbury valued at £950, Labour newbie Polly Billington saw a Pet Shop Boys performance at The Royal Opera House worth £500, and Pat McFadden got freebie tickets for him and his wife to see Bruce Springsteen. Saving £328 in the process… Keir Starmer snagged four tickets worth £4,000 to see Talyor Swift’s Eras Tour. Corbynista Dan Carden, Labour’s Kim Johnson, Catherine McKinnell, now former Labour MP Ian Byrne also enjoyed the concert worth a total of £4,700. Not such a Cruel Summer for them… A whopping £22,221 worth of tickets and hospitality was dished out by donors for members to attend the British Grand Prix. Tory MP Greg Smith, the biggest recipient, bagged six tickets worth over £7,300, while Priti Patel found herself in the ‘Legends Suite’, to the value of £3,300. Nice to qualify for those tickets… Wimbledon tickets accounted for another £2,112 worth of freebies. Scottish Labour MPs Tracy Gilbert and Gordon McKee two finals tickets worth £275 each, whilst LibDem’s Layla Moran, Labour’s Stephanie Peacock and Toby Perkins all attended earlier matches. Advantage of being an MP… Three MPs secured entry to the Chelsea Flower Show, with Tan Dhesi scooping hospitality tickets worth £895. Jeremy Hunt and his wife received tickets worth £370, as did the appropriately named Tulip Siddiq. Social events aside, some MP’s have been generating eye-watering sums on the international circuit, namely Suella Braverman. She netted £56,171 for ‘speaking engagements’ in South Korea, expensing £27,801 for a four-night trip to Israel with her husband. At least she has her speeches to fall back on since she crashed out of the Tory leadership race…" More info

No, my point is that you seem to get a hard on by constantly attacking Farage and Reform when you are ignoring the other parties, especially the ruling government! This thread is to examine the progress of the Labour government. All you are interested in is deflection. Shall we talk about Labour killing the Social Reform Bill which would have capped the amount families pay for Social Care? A subject that has real meaning for some forum users.

Another point is that I work in the finance industry, as does Cheshire. I bet he has to follow the same rules as me, and if we were found to have accepted any of these freebies it would be a sackable offence. Compliance would hammer us with rules drawn up by politicians.

I just gun for the biggest hypocrites. Johnson, Rees - Mogg, Corbyn, Farage. Farage is the worse of the lot. An utter con man. Let's not forget Nobby you, personally, suggested Farage and Reform was the party we should be voting for. You did the same in 2010...now you say that lot were incompetent.

That's a cheap shot and not a very pleasant comment Nobby, I thought you were better than that. Not ignoring other parties, that's to counter the constant slagging off of a Labour Government which has only been in effective power a few weeks if you exclude the recess and a party like Reform Party Ltd that has 5 MPs yet gets loads more air time, interviews and publicity than the Liberal Democrats with 72 MPs and the Greens with 4 members that get none. Let's talk about that fairness, shall we? Labour have yet to give their first budget so none of us know what it will contain. Yet already people who ignored the devastating impact of the Tories over 14 years are ready to slam them. With regard to freebies the Tories are masters. When you can show me a £10million donation to Labour from a racist donor who was then rewarded a Gov contract of £100million then we can start talking. Until then let's compare like with like and include all the complimentary gifts, donations, parties with ex KGB staff, meetings with Russians and people like Bannon who is a danger to democracy, and use of the public purse to cover personal legal expenses. Also contracts for in laws worth billions, PPE contracts, Covid grants and liquidated companies owing HMRC millions, etc etc. Yes we can talk about the other parties. And I will certainly acknowledge any deficiency in Labour when you are prepared to admit that the Tories and Reform Party Ltd are not as squeaky clean as you seem to want to portray.

I totally agree compliance is getting tougher and tougher. Gifts, hospitality, etc have to all be reported and if I had the gifts that Boris Johnson had towards his wallpaper, deposits/loans for houses, private flights, undisclosed visits or invitations to parties at which competitors or overseas diplomats were invited and I left company confidential & sensitive information lying around, then I would be sacked on the spot. Seems to be different rules for UK politicians these days, the sort of gifts you expect in 'banana republics' of which we have been seeking to set our stall in latter years.

If we are talking about corruption with donors we haven't mentioned the biggest one of all. The NEC control the Labour Party. There are 39 people who sit on the NEC, including Starmer and Rayner. Of those 39 people, 13 are Union Leaders. The Unions bankroll the Labour Party. This government, on behalf of the taxpayer, are negotiating pay rises with the very people who bankroll them. Actually negotiate is a poor word, as it should really read capitulate.

Money given to Labour by unions 1023 £5.9mln - wrong Largest donor to the Labour Party is Dale Vince company £1million Money given by a racist donor £10mln who then gets £100million contract - absolutely fine. Hear what you are saying Nobby.
