If you qualify for Pension Credit, it's quite straightforward I asked how much their income would have to be, you havent answered that. Ok, I will spell it out "If you've reached State Pension age, you can claim Guarantee Credit if your weekly income is less than: £218.15 if you're single. £332.95 if you're a couple" Qualification for that credit qualifies you for the winter fuel credit. This information is freely available

The sentencing, for protesters against mass illegal and legal immigration has been curiously harsh. Unjustly harsh. Labour are hoping to shut down the anti mass immigration voice. They've seen the recent poll that shows Reform surging upwards. This, despite the Labour Government and MSM attempt to demonise our working class people and anyone else that is sick to death of this invasion and a religion, still anchored in its barbaric and anti British 7th century past. Labour are scared of the Reform Party. Sorry Bas that is blatantly untrue. You were happy that people who blocked roads WITHOUT violence got 3 to 5 years. Now you are saying that people who riot, loot, vandalise, attack the police and make violent threats and say that asylum hotels should be burnt down should be treated less harshly. So violence is OK then? Is that why you support Reform Party Ltd then?

There are other benefits they can apply for such as Attendance Allowance if they need additional support or are struggling financially. Labour has highlighted that many people are not claiming the benefits that they should.

The removal of this allowance is something I totally support. When paying tax and NI, there were no guarantees beyond a basic State Pension. If as a tax payer you didn't understand that then that's on you.

There was no choice was there ? you have to pay income tax and NS and you will be looked after 'from cradle to grave' well for some the grave bit might come a bit quicker thanks to this government Nice that you have a private pension but people who were on lower wages wouldnt have been able to afford that,I know a few single women who are worried about how they will cope once they have to retire...yes you wont have to live on less than 12k but lots will and thanks to Labour they are in for a **** time.

Pensions have been eroded for a long time, it's not on this Labour government but all. As for the Winter Fuel Payments, let's wait to see what the Chancellor says in her budget, the important thing is to look at everything in the round rather than in isolation.

A woman posting something on Facebook, first offence, given 15 months in prison is just scandalous. The road blockers had many previous convictions.

Not just that though, there are lots of strains on the public purse and as I said above, taking one point in isolation doesn't help.

I wonder how many people of pensionable age will die of the cold this Winter? What with this Labour Government normalising various bloody awful things,I wonder if the bookies will offer odds on how many pensioners will die this winter.

"There was no choice was there ? you have to pay income tax and NS and you will be looked after 'from cradle to grave' well for some the grave bit might come a bit quicker thanks to this government" That was always a myth, especially when politicians started using that myth for gaining power. "but people who were on lower wages wouldnt have been able to afford that" I started paying in after the pension reforms of 1968 instigated by Barbara Castle "The story starts in 1968 when Barbara Castle launched the "state earnings related pension scheme" (Serps), which promised workers a pension of 25% of pay on retirement, as long as they paid full national insurance" So I started paying into the Xerox company scheme in 1977. I was 25. You takes your choices, including voting for politicians who do not believe in state provision.

The original NHS and care system was not cradle to grave. It was a safety net for those who couldn't, or whose family couldn't, afford to look after themselves/their family members. Since then it has become a catch all. Families no longer look after the elderly but expect the state to pick up the bill and still get their inheritance. They expect, or in some cases demand to be looked after. Our family has and still looks after its elderly, but the traditional family no longer exists, so who should pick up the tab for those who can afford to look after their families but won't? If someone can't support themselves or are struggling the state should be a safety net, but not an obligatory service for all. It is ironic that those who have criticised Labour for years in the past about propagating the 'nanny' state complain when they try to do something about it!

So if you said at work to a colleague that their house should be set on fire with them in it, that should receive a severe telling off and no more. After all, sticks and stones etc
