To use your own analogy, you go out and buy another car. You don't sit on the couch shouting at it. It's easy to say you disagree, it's harder to have a view which is backed up by evidence I would take the car to someone who knows what they are doing and has the diagnostic equipment and explain to them the symptoms and see what they said however in this case the evidence is that tens of millions arent voting, democracy looks like a farce to many and society is in a mess...but if you're happy with how things are and cant see any problems and dont think that needs to change thats your prerogative ....if you are like that with cars I recommend AA relay or Green flag. Extrapolating the analogy to the point of silliness is just that..silly. I am not happy with our system of democracy at all. I want a republic and the end of a system of monarchy I want the House of Lords to be abolished. I want greater devolution to the regions. I want our proposed representatives to be selected by their constituents, the people they represent not a central audit committee. But most of all, I hope our kids are better educated than so many of our current electorate, those whose propensity for voting for snake oil salesman is quite breathtaking.

I would stop the church from having any influence at all. I wonder if something more radical is needed, party politics is just nonsense like a Punch and Judy show,so stop anyone with affiliation to a political party from standing to be an MP, just Independents who have been rigorously checked by a special unit who will go through their criminal, financial and personal past and check all e'mails that they have ever made. Stricter rules on what they can do whilst being an MP and heavy prison sentences for any that abuse their positions.

Stay on high alert, Starmer tells emergency meeting on riots..by Jamie Whitehead and Emily Atkinsonichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/1bcd/live/1170baa0-55a5-11ef-b2d2-cdb23d5d7c5b.jpg"Remain on high alert”, the prime minister is understood to have told a Cobra meeting tonight. Keir Starmer thanked police chiefs, law enforcement officials and others from across the criminal justice system for their response, the BBC understands. He told them that there is “no doubt” rapid sentencing as well as having police in the right places across the country “acted as a deterrent” to prevent expected violence on Wednesday night. The extra specialist police officers mobilised have not been stood down. Almost 6,000 extra public order officers were mobilised earlier in the week to respond to the disorder.

More than £400,000 raised for rebuilding after riots
Multiple GoFundMe pages have raised over £400,000 to help local areas rebuild in the wake of riots and disorder.
The money from one online fundraiser will go to "rebuilding or relocating" a Southport mosque that was "turned into a warzone", the page said.
Another page was set up to raise £5,000 to replace damaged books at the Spellow Library, which was torched on Sunday.
As of Thursday, it had far exceeded that target, with more than £215,644 raised.

Labour MP Lauren Edwards has been suspended as some online comments she made a while back have come to light.
I don't suppose these comments are so bad,but it's a wicked web of accusational nonsense the Wokeriety have woven and they occasionally fall into their own traps.

Councillor Ricky Jones charged with encouraging violent disorder..by Zac Sherratt & PA Media, BBC News, South Easti.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/08/13/88308009-13723539-image-a-32_1723121279593.jpgSuspended Labour councillor Ricky Jones has been remanded in custody after he was charged with encouraging violent disorder in connection with comments at a London counter-protest. The Dartford councillor was arrested by the Metropolitan Police on Thursday and was charged on Friday, said the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). “Jones was filmed addressing a crowd in Walthamstow on Wednesday 7 August during which he appeared to make remarks and a gesture to encourage others to act violently towards far-right protestors," the CPS said. Mr Jones, 57, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday. BBC reporter Lucy Grey said no indication of a plea was given. Deputy senior district judge Tan Ikram said: “It is alleged that using a microphone you addressed a crowd at an anti-fascist protest and, talking about others you described as ‘disgusting Nazi fascists’, you said ‘we need to cut their throats and get rid of them’. “The Crown says that those words were capable of encouraging others to commit acts of serious violence, and further that you believed that your words would encourage violence against others.” The case was adjourned for a pre-trial prepation hearing on 6th September. Ahead of the councillor’s appearance in court, Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Ricky Jones, 57, with one count of encouraging violent disorder. “We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and that he has the right to a fair trial. “It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.” Mr Jones has been a councillor in Dartford, Kent, since 2019. He has been suspended by the Labour Party.

If there is to be a trial, then I presume he pleaded "not guilty". He should get a longer sentence then, as he is as guilty as hell.

2,000,000 pensioners may well struggle to keep warm this coming Winter. Inevitably some will die of the cold.
Why not halve our foreign aid budget to help keep our people safe and warm?

Its all part of the pensions liability reduction scheme. Whilst at the same time creating an effective cull of any remaining Tory Voters and supporters of Brexit.

Labours council house policy puts Britons behind immigrants in the queue. Absolutely disgusting. It also now puts them behind Terrorists now in the queue, after labour dropping the Tory policy of no social housing for Terrorists.

Labours council house policy puts Britons behind immigrants in the queue. Absolutely disgusting. Are you sure? "A spokesman for the Ministry of Housing told the Sunday Telegraph: 'The vast majority of councils have already adopted local connection tests and 90 per cent of social homes go to UK nationals. 'Those who do not have a right to stay in the UK are already not eligible for social housing.' "
