COP29. It has finally been recognized by the big boys that these events are just a talking shop for less well off countries to demand money from the richer ones. The US, China, India and the EU have all stayed away. Net Zero is being ramped down in the EU and the USA. China and India (two of the biggest polluters) never have to adhere to any of the International rules anyway. I'm not sure why Starmer is grandstanding at this event.

Big countries like China, India, Saudi and inevitably the USA [even more so now under Trump] were never going to adhere to the agreements anyway. The latter being in the pockets of large oil companies and industrialists who give little thought about the future, only todays buck. Even though I am an eternal optimist, I now believe that the planet is screwed. I feel sorry for the future generations who will go through the ultimate crises that will bring about the end of humanity. All we don't know is how long it will take. All those of us who give a sh!t, like Starmer, can do is play a small part in slowing the inevitable down a bit. However the planet will go on and in a million years it will have sorted out the mess that generations of humans made. Of course MAGA supporters, anti-vaxxers, the Illuminati and Lizard people will survive as they know that secretly climate change is all a secret conspiracy.....

Trump is not in power, and hasn't been for the last four years. The US not attending is down purely to the Biden Administration. People do give a s**t about pollution etc. However, the race to Net Zero is not going to work. The numbers and timescales are ridiculous.

The point is, he will be from January on and oil and industrialists backed his campaign and will want their pound of flesh. If you don't set a challenging target you will get what you have now, a situation where few are trying, hence my long term view.

Had people heeded what we were warning about in the 80s and 90s, there wouldn't have been such a rush now. That's no excuse to drag our feet, we need to set challenging targets otherwise it'll drift even more.

I never said ANY of that,so you are lying and my words are written above for all to see. Where the hell did I say that I would support it? I stated that I DON'T!!! want him to do hit us hard, but I UNDERSTOOD if he did after our LYING,desitful prime minister and his clowns put us in that position with Trump by him calling Trump racist, bigoted sexist and facist! You can run, but you cannot hide. A cornerstone of Trump's economic policies was to impose Tariffs on imports. He stated almost from day one. And you supported him. So when he hits us with tariffs on our exports to the USA you can explain to the companies who have to take the hit. It's fair enough isn't it? Have the bollox to stand by what you promoted? Bump AGAIN............24hrs on. To use your words from yesterday- "You can run, but you can't HIDE!" Come on liar....where are Your bollox???!!!!! - And who is hiding now?? I've called you out on your s**t by bumping this a number of times today. So go on...prove where I supported Trump's tariffs! Look at my Post history, all written there. Typical leftie....bully! Saying desitful lies and like a snake slithers away. Your kind are a disgrace to good, left sided people out there and on here, who want a rational debate. And I've been down this road with you twice before. You hide once Ive called you out to prove something you said that I've done. ..... Anyway.. Moving on! I apologise to the forum for this post, but it's ridiculous to continually have to put up with this crap and lies, and I HATE BULLIES, so will not stand for it. I will leave this argument here for him to prove that I'm wrong, or apologise in order to save his.. π€₯π₯΄π§π character on here. BTW, I actually apologise to Oldie himself for pointing the above out.Its not something I enjoyed doing - But I can't stand Liars and bullies.

I havent responded to your hysterical posts because they are factually incorrect. This is tedious, but I way lay it out as simply as I can. 1. You have been a "passionate"advocate of Trump and his bid for the Presidency from the outset. 2. I have made the opposite case. 3. A few weeks ago I raised the the issue, a cornerstone of his economic policies, of import tariffs on goods manufactured outside of the States and imported. 4. Trump claimed (he still does I think) that it would be the manufacturers that would actually pay the tariff, not the USA importers. 5. I pointed out that technically this could not be the case. 6. In debate, given your support for him, I asked you if you could explain how his contention could possibly be true. (I paraphrase) 7. You then said you couldn't but in any event your support for Trump was predicated upon your belief that he would enforce world peace (I paraphrase) not economic or domestic political issues. 8. Now he is in power and very likely to enact his tariff regime I asked you how you would explain the economic impact on the UK if he imposes tariffs of upto 20% on our exports to USA, to businesses and their employees who would be negatively impacted as a result. Impacts on our country, a phrase you invoke regularly, and it's people instigated by the leader of a foreign country who you vociferously supported on here. That's it. That's exactly what happened, perhaps not in those exact words (I cannot be assed to look back and quote verbatim) perhaps, but that was the crux of that exchange.

Apparently if you challenge anyone's assertions about Trump, Farage, the Republicans, Reform, the World Economic Forum conspiracy and Starmer being the worst world leader ever,Ever,EVER, you are a bully and a liar.
If you support those assertions you are a freedom fighter and probably deserve a place in heaven.
It's all very complicated.

I will give the devil its due, you finally found your balls and responded to a request to respond to a lie.. that of many, that you told on here.. I guess you were aware of what you spewed out was complete nonsense. Question β Was this to save face on here, as I cornered you in your own Bulls**t ? or that you did the right thing and just grew the balls to answer? I have faith that it's that latter, but that is irrelevant here as my point is proven.I now also respect you more either way. I agree with alot with your retort.Indeed I do.But you are just throwing s**t around to get yourself out of trouble here. See I'm very consistent with my views.I only speak on things that ... A) I know about ( insert your attempt at humour here, I will giggle π€£ ) or ...... B) that I care about or have an interest in, otherwise I will not comment....And btw - I've had three pm's by people on here telling me so... FACT! π Correct... I'm Trump's biggest fan on here.Im proud to say it,and I was justified last week when logic won. But sometimes on here things become too tribel...that its becomes all about winning a debate, and people will lie about things - only to win, or be proven right, and you fall into this category- sir.. I never have. I didn't expect you to go through my past posts, as that would be ludicrous, and you rightfully declined. BUT, the evidence is there, as it is with all our posts on a platform such as this. Again Ive supported Trump throughout his first victory, his 2nd... and its was. AND NOW A 3RD... and never spoke about anything I didn't believe, or understood. I completely understand tariffs, and how they work. But I was not interested in how Trump wants to apply them.Once he enforces them on us, then I will speak up as it will effect me and you.Until then, don't pigeon hole me into a subject that I have not spoken on. Mic drop....π

Just for Ice If or when Trump invokes Tariffs on exports from the UK, I will come back and ask how he justified his support for Trump and by default his policies to the businesses and their employees here in the UK

Just because someone supports a politician, or their party, it does NOT follow that you support everything they say or do. Nor does it mean you support every policy they come up with. Do YOU support the Labour policy on the WFA? Do YOU support the Labour IHT policy on farms? Do YOU support the last Budget? Do YOU support the Labour policy of VAT on education?

I've supported Trump based on international security, and I have made that very clear here. I have also stated on here that I don't support him on everything,I believe Aghast and I had a conversation about this a few weeks ago here. I've never once expressed my support for Trump's tariffs plans here.I have my views of course. But they are for me to know, and not for you to create lies about based on what you want to believe in order to point score.

But on this specific issue of import Tariffs I raised it pre-election and stated that Trumps explanation of how they work was tosh. I asked Ice, as Trumps biggest supporter on here if he could explain Trump's rhetoric. He couldn't/didn't and continued to vociferously support him. My contention stands. By supporting him and repeating his rhetoric on here Ice is actively supporting a foreign leader whose policies could/will be damaging to the interests of this country
