The UK National Living wage is set at 11.44. For a 35 hour week, that works out at 20,820 pounds per year. The cut-off point for receiving the Winter Fuel Allowance is 11,350 a year.
Labour, and anyone who has supported this policy, should hang their heads in shame.

What are Labour going to do about our imported crime wave?
Singing "Yesterday" or "Don't Look Back In Anger" won't cut it.
The Opposition,what will they recommend?
Labour will encourage thousands of more foreigners, mostly Muslims to enter our country .Destroy the nation state and with it our hard won civilisation .
The Opposition will moan about the end of the useless Rwanda Scheme and pretend they would consider leaving the ECHR.
Both have no intention of saving our country.
Reform are the only party to vote for if you believe in the nation state and our civilisation.

In 3 weeks? Can you back that up with evidence. It was the Tories who started to ban peaceful non violent protest. How many 'peaceful non-violent protests' did the Tories ban? Do we have any evidence? How do you know that any protest is not going to turn violent? The police arrested Republic protestors prior to the Coronation. Republic have a reputation for non violent protest. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65527007

""We regret that those six people arrested were unable to join the wider group of protesters in Trafalgar Square and elsewhere on the procession route," a statement continued." "The Met said the group of six were detained after items were found in a vehicle which officers "had reasonable grounds to believe could be used as lock on devices". But the force said it was "unable to prove intent to use them to lock on and disrupt the event". One man in the group was also arrested for possession of a knife or pointed article." So, there was a peaceful protest already going on in Trafalgar Square and elsewhere!

So, there was a peaceful protest already going on in Trafalgar Square and elsewhere! You asked for an example I gave you one, arrested before being allowed to protest. They have a reputation for non violent protest. You do realise that the definition of 'knife or pointed article' within the act is so wide ranging that it can include a pole for carrying a banner, which I believe it was in this case? If you want another, Police have removed Steve Bray, the anti-Brexit campaigner on numerous occasions and confiscated equipment under the act. There was peaceful protest going on of which some members of Republic were there. As I said they are known non violent protestors, so why arrest them? Even David Davis, a Tory MP, said when they were passed that the laws as set in Parliament were far too wide ranging and needed further scrutiny.

Even David Davis, a Tory MP, said when they were passed that the laws as set in Parliament were far too wide ranging and needed further scrutiny. I can imagine the Police arrested them because a peaceful protest had been agreed in advance, and this was indeed taking place. These six were found to be in possession of possible things they could use to 'tie on' to something. Security would have been really tight. Imagine if one of these people had run out in front of the Kings carriage with the intention to 'tie onto' it? There is the possibility that security would have shot them? Maybe members of the public may have taken matters into their own hands. So, removing them from the scene just may have been in their own best interest? With things like this it is always best to err on the side of caution. These six people were going outside of the agreed places of protest. You don't always have to wait for someone to break the law before you arrest them. The fact there was an agreed peaceful protest taking place goes against your claim of the Tories banning peaceful protests.

If you're income is below that there are other benefits you can claim that will then qualify you for the Winter Fuel Allowance. 11,350 is the cut-off point.

You don't always have to wait for someone to break the law before you arrest them. The fact there was an agreed peaceful protest taking place goes against your claim of the Tories banning peaceful protests. They were to be a part of that peaceful protest, your ifs, buts and maybes, don't excuse the police for arresting them. What part of they have a reputation for non violent protest is difficult to understand. And as you say they had been discussing it for weeks if not months. The Police accepted they were wrong and they shouldn't have been arrested in spite of what you are trying to say. They did arrest them IN SPITE OF the agreement. In fact what you are trying to say could happen on any occasion so why not ban all protest in any form, as the 'public' like say the EDL or anti-fascists might take the law into their own hands or the police might shoot someone willy nilly? Not of course that they are trained to deal with such situations. When was the last time the police shot someone at a royal event?

Next up it's the GP's. They already earn quite a bit, but they've seen the success of the Junior Doctor's by striking, and now they want a slice of the pie. Labour opened Pandora's Box by caving in to the Junior Doctor's demands.

Keir Starmer announces violent disorder unit after riots..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/01/15/88043645-13698553-image-a-14_1722521234116.jpgKeir Starmer vowed 'action will be taken' today as he held crisis talks with police over the outbreak of rioting following the Southport knife attack. After summoning chiefs to No10, the PM told them that 'marauding mobs' must not be allowed to cause chaos. He condemned those involved in violent disorder as 'thugs who have no interest whatsoever in the raw pain' of the community. The premier said: 'I wanted to send a message to each of you and through you, your officers, to say that this Government supports the police, supports what you are doing and to be absolutely clear: This is not protest, this is violent disorder and action will be taken. 'So, this Government will make sure you have got the powers you need and will back you in using those powers.' In the capital, more than 100 people were arrested after crowds in Whitehall launched beer cans and glass bottles at police and threw flares at the statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square. People wearing England flags and waving banners saying 'enough is enough' and 'stop the boats' congregated outside Downing Street. Violence flared after social media posts wrongly claimed the killing of three young girls in a knife attack in Southport was carried out by a Muslim asylum seeker who crossed the Channel in a small boat. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/01/01/88016771-13696069-image-a-48_1722472181525.jpg

Don't you just love the fact that the mobs attack the police, some of whom fought to save the kids lives with the paramedics. I presume those arrested will get jail sentences as long as those given to the non violent protestors. Should expect to see 3 to 5 years. Most likely to see a fine.

Violent mobs get out of control, the Police try to stop them so they get targeted,of course its wrong but tbh I think this has been a long time in the making, could have kicked off after London bridge,Manchester arena or any of the other terror incidents that have happened in the last 20 years. Prepare for much more rioting like Southport or Harehills in the future, those water canon that Mayor Khan sold for peanuts might have come in useful.

Starmers press conference says it all. Blamed everything on the far right, never mentioned the Leeds riots because of course he couldn't blame it on the right, compared people to football hooligans (bloody cheek), never mentioned two tier policing, never really mentioned why or accepted reasons why people are upset, never mentioned the events at Manchester Airport. Then he took questions you've guessed it BBC, ITV, C4, Sky, The Mail (unbelievably), The Times, The Guardian and The Mirror.
No 10 refused GB news the opportunity to ask a question.
Well done Starmer yet again your true colours have come out.

If the Conservatives get themselves sorted, perhaps even if they don't, I expect reform to still have single digit MPs come 2029.
