This is what many (including on here) have been saying for a long time, yet you continued to support Biden. The Democrats are attempting to play a huge con trick on the American public. Vote Biden in, but they just don't know who they will get as it is obvious that if Biden did win he'd step down in a matter of weeks and whoever is VP will become President. Shame on Biden's family for putting him through this as well. It is clearly obvious he is a sick man. I don't buy into any sort of conspiracy theory. This issue was widely discussed post debate tonight A large number of senior democrats now saying it was a mistake to honour tradition and stand aside to allow a sitting President a run at a 2nd term, if he/she wants to. Talking openly now of replacing for the Convention later in the year. Not a conspiracy theory, just plain common sense at what we have all been watching for the last 18 months or so. The Democrats were hoping that Biden could at least remain functional until the election and they are now realizing what the rest of us knew, that Biden is just not up to it.

Fortunately for the general American population the actual policies have been beneficial for them. There was an hilarious moment last night when Trump accused Biden of not firing enough people, as if the chaos of his tenure was something to be proud of. Then Biden reminded everyone of the huge debt pile Trump accumulated.

The Democrats are in the brown smelly stuff of their own creation. Blindingly obvious for at least a year that Biden is not fit for office. It was there for all to see at the debate. Undecided voters will not vote for someone with dementia. But to jettison Biden now, would see Newsom or Harris take on Trump. And they both poll even worse than Biden against Trump. So they're fooked. Republicans are now 4/7 to win the election and pretty much all of the swing states are all headed Trumps way. I don't want the Donald in the Whitehouse. But to see the snowflakes go in to total meltdown... yeah... why not.

Donald Trump has some immunity from prosecution, Supreme Court rules..ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/f6dd/live/409f50a0-37ac-11ef-bdc5-41d7421c2adf.jpgThe US Supreme Court rules former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts taken while in office, but have no immunity for unofficial acts The landmark decision means the federal election interference case against Donald Trump will return to a lower court which will then decide how to apply this ruling The trial in that case was postponed pending a ruling on the immunity claim, and will now likely be delayed further Prosecutors in that case allege Trump pressured officials to reverse the 2020 election result and sought to exploit the Capitol riot on 6 January 2021 in an effort to stay in power The Supreme Court ruled 6-3, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor among those opposing the decision. She said she did so with "fear for our democracy" and "the president is now a king above the law"

"The US Supreme Court rules former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts taken while in office, but have no immunity for unofficial acts"
I think this is about right, if there is clear demarcation between "official" and "unofficial"
Is mounting a false campaign that tried to undermine an election result with lies and frivolous lawsuits, all of which were thrown out by multiple courts across the States, "Official"?
If it is that not abuse of executive powers (as in Nixon's case) Or is that unofficial?
I guess what I find disturbing is that anyone, and I mean anyone" could find it in themselves to support Trump. I watched the debate live over there and as bad as Biden was (I felt sorry for him, he really should step down) Trump was a ranting lunatic spouting lie after lie. I get the sense over there that he turned a lot of people off. I hope so, but unless something big happens he will be reelected. A disaster for the American economy, a disaster for civil liberties, a disaster for the international liberal free markets.

Have the Democrats now decided on who will replace Biden?

Lots of name the Governor's of California, Gavin Newsom: Michigan, Gretchin Whitmer: New York, Kathy Hochul And of course the VP Kamala Harris who procedurally, if Biden steps down now, it should be. Cue triggering a load of white males going berserk because she is black and a woman.

The reality is that she is only VP because she is a black woman. There lies the problem for the Democrats. As VP she should be the one who steps up to the plate when Biden steps down, but the Democrats know that she cannot, and will not, win an election.

New York, Kathy Hochul

...........................................
A naive and unnecessary comment . Yes there will be some " white males" etc, but I bet there will be some 'black people' that will see her as a 'traitor '.Etc.
Have you seen the brown skin Muslim cash donor to the Reform Party? Zia Yusuf,a new star of the Right. He made an inspired speech in Birmingham infront of a very appreciative 5000 crowd. We like him.
Why has'nt Harris taken Bidens place yet then?
As Nobby says she was a box ticker,a positive discrimination employee but now the weakness of that ridiculous and unfair strategy is exposed. She ain't got it.

Her performance when given the job of sorting out the chaos on the Southern Border was the first clear sign she was out of her depth. Her ratings are so low she's unelectable. Ok. But โ President Biden, facing a political crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border in the early days of his administration, tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead a high-profile response that would bet heavily on improving conditions in three Central American countries. It was known as the โroot causesโ strategy. The border, administration officials argued, was only a symptom. If the United States could improve economic, security and political conditions in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, fewer people would risk the perilous journey and much of the problem could be solved, they reasoned. Three years later, the border crisis has only deepened, with record numbers of migrants from all over the hemisphere overwhelming the border, and a president on the defense as Republicans make immigration a key issue in his reelection campaign. Specialists in migration say the administration miscalculated, choosing a narrow and time-consuming strategy that failed to anticipate the shifting nature of migration. โIt was focused on a long-term scenario and it was focused on countries that are no longer the primary sending countries,โ said Ariel Ruiz Soto, a senior policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan research group." Given that everything that had gone before had failed, regardless of the administration, I personally could understand why the administration opted for something more radical, rather than just repeat the same old responses laced with the usual anti immigrant tropes. It appears to have failed, not because of Harris, but because the policy was flawed and not tuned to a quick result. Of course the media and others will focus on Harris..like I said.

On the Harris question. Who would you prefer A lady who was
1) District Attorney for San Francisco 2) Attorney General for California 3) A United States Senator.
Or Trump
Who 1) Lies through his teeth 2) Last week defined jobs by skin colour 3) Is a convicted felon 4) Has multiple bankruptcies in his past leaving countless creditors out of pocket.
I mean really.

Or Trump Who 1) Lies through his teeth 2) Last week defined jobs by skin colour 3) Is a convicted felon 4) Has multiple bankruptcies in his past leaving countless creditors out of pocket. I mean really. OK, let's not go any further on this as it's painfully obvious that you will support any Democrat as evidenced by your defence of Biden over the last couple of years when it was painfully obvious to anyone with any sense that he was ill and shouldn't be allowed to carry on. Harris has been described in the US media as 'the most unpopular VP in modern times'. She was the first to pull out of the Democratic Presidential Nomination race as she didn't even get 1% of her own parties support! You appear blinkered in your views, so you'll find yourself going down that same alley as you did with your defence of Biden. Newsweek"He said: "To realize just how unpopular Kamala Harris is, you have to keep in mind the historical significance of it all. No one in her position has had this low of favorabilities in a first term since Dan Quayle. That's saying something. So it's no surprise, especially with Biden's age, that Republicans keep hammering home a simple point: a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris. "While it's usually the top of the ticket that drives voting, and that will be true again in 2024, Harris' abysmal popularity will matter on the margins. And with next year's election poised to be close, those margins could end up being a difference-maker." "
