Rishi answers with a "yes",he would use private health if a loved one was seriously ill. Sir Kier tells the nation he would'nt use private health for a loved one even if they were seriously ill. I don't believe Sir Kier. Yeah, Starmer was just virtue signaling with that. He's loaded so if he's still using the NHS for him and his family he's a fool. Not only that but if he went Private it would reduce the work for the NHS!

Sir Kier did'nt come across very well I'm hearing. No he didn't. Wouldn't provide an answer when asked if Labour will start to tax the State Pension. He just tried to deflect. To stop the boats he reckons we need to "smash the gangs" bringing people over. The politicians do seem to have a problem differentiating between Asylum Seekers and illegal immigrants. He reckons by setting up 'processing centres somewhere' (he didn't say) then asylum seekers can apply there and this will create a 'safe passage'. He didn't say what happens when someone gets refused so they then use the smuggling gangs to get across. Labour do not have a coherent plan regarding immigration. Their plan has more holes than a tramps vest. His new "British Energy Company" is a bit of a joke. He reckons renewable energy is cheap. Has he ever looked at the figures? As for Sunak, you can't believe a word the Tories say. I keep saying it, but same old parties, same old policies, same old lies, same old incompetence, same old results.

Watched the highlights, didn't take long. Rishi looked quite good against a wooden puppet who has no radical policies to promote. Two deeply dull people with nothing new to say. Farage, like him, or froth at the mouth loathe him - is absolute box office.

I see the claim that Labour would increase income tax by £2k per household has blown up in their faces. The Treasury have disowned the claim.

It is the calculated amount when Labour policies are taken into consideration. Sunak's claim was that they had instructed the Treasury to "independently" cost Labour's claims, even though no detailed manifesto has been published and he claimed every household will be hit with £2k of extra taxation. The Treasury have now said we cannot take the figures as coming from them. Disowned. Desparate Tories

Re the above
"A letter from the chief Treasury civil servant has cast doubt on the Conservatives' claims of £2,000 tax rises under Labour over four years Rishi Sunak said in last night's TV debate: "Independent Treasury officials have costed Labour's policies and they amount to a £2,000 tax rise for every working family" But the chief Treasury civil servant wrote to Labour two days ago saying the assessment "should not be presented as having been produced by the civil service"

Well I'm really looking forward to the Labour Manifesto. How will they create this "British Energy Company" and how much will it cost? A government run industry. We all know how they end-up don't we. How will they pay for the industry they want to Nationalize? How will they pay for the increase in State school kids after charging VAT on Private Education? How will they pay for 6,500 new teachers? How will they pay for the new "Border Force", when we already have one? Will we see another flood of PFI on steroids? The country is still paying for the last lot!
I have no doubt they will claim that it is all 'costed'. Hey, I've just 'costed' buying a Rolls-Royce. I can't afford it, but I've 'costed' it! They will also claim that they can pay for everything by "growing the economy", without any indication that they are capable of doing so.
Both parties claim no increase in Income Tax or VAT. None of them mention that they will freeze thresholds, thereby increasing the tax income using the Fiscal Drag.
Liars, both parties.

Starmer will be gone in 7 months , again this morning we’ve a labour mp totally contradicting him when questioned , No I wouldn’t of said what he said , You’d of expected her on prime time tv , just before a election to even if she didn’t agree with him to back him , but no like rayner , reeves there all quite happy to contradict him , as one of the experts said , however much he tells everyone how he’s in control of the Labour Party , he’s not , the abbot debacle proved that

Apparently the £2,000 labour are now claiming is a lie was initially brought up by Jeremy hunt 1 month ago , reporter asked starmer today why labour didn’t challenge it at the time , apparently he dodged the question , the reporter then asked him why it took him 30 mins last night to refute sunaks accusation that labours spending policies would cost everyone £2,000+ , again dodged the question . Labour have now costed the tories spending plans and it’s going to cost us all 13,000 Pa , I thought I heard him wrong but the presenter repeated 13,000 , though I have since found a article that says 3,000 so maybe the presenter got it wrong . Apparently there is now video of starmer when asked about private care saying yes it’s a excellent idea , Wes streeting saying the same thing , encouraging people to go Private , though starmer said last night he won’t send his family private Ed davey done for speeding on the m1 , 73 mph in a 60 , apparently didn’t see the signs , as someone who travels on the m1 most days I’ve no idea how you can miss the speed signs , most are dirty great matrix boards above the carriage way , I matrix for each lane , then he’s apparently also managed to fill his details in wrong It’s great when the tories / labour / ld are all embarrassing themselves , nige & reform are acting like the adults in the room .

Jeremy Hunt warns of £38BILLION tax bomb under Labour as Chancellor says he wants to slash the burden for Brits again in the Autumn before election By James Tapsfield, Political Editor For Mailonline 09:31 17 May 2024, updated 14:16 17 May 2024 Share or comment on this article: 0 shares 442 comments ADVERTISEMENT Jeremy Hunt today delivered a stark warning that Labour in power would mean a tax bomb worth £2,000 for every household.
In a highly political speech, the Chancellor hailed the upturn in the economy and said he was keen to 'go further' on trimming national insurance if it was possible to do so responsibly.
But he warned that in contrast if Keir Starmer gets the keys to No10 he will have to raise taxes 'as sure as night follows day'.
He claimed official estimates showed there was a £38billion gap between Labour's spending commitments and funding over the next four years - equivalent to more than £2,000 for every family.
'Keir Starmer's first step will be to help himself to you and your family's wallets,' Mr Hunt said.

'Because over time we make no apology for wanting to keep cutting the double tax on work until it is gone, but only when we can do so without increasing borrowing and without cutting funding for public services or pensions.'
Mr Hunt said Conservatives had been willing to make 'difficult decisions' to put the economy back on its feet, arguing that Labour's plans risk creating an 'unmitigated tragedy' for people across the country.
'Has growth been lower than in more benign periods when we haven't had similar international shocks? Of course,' he said.
'But has that growth been higher than it would have been without Conservative governments prepared to take difficult decisions to put the economy back on its feet after those shocks? Of course, again.'

Referring to Labour's employment rights proposals, he added that Angela Rayner wants '70 new burdens' for employers which would turn the 'job-creating factory' of Britain into a 'French-style inflexible labour market'.
Hunt slams Labour 'lies' over Tories targeting pensioners
Jeremy Hunt accused Labour of 'lies' and spreading 'fake news' about the Tories giving older people a hard deal today.
The Chancellor said Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves were trying to win the election by 'scaring pensioners about a policy that is not true'.
Mr Hunt argued that while the Tories have cut national insurance, which pensioners do not pay, they have also increased the state pension.
Asked whether he was accusing them of lying, he said: 'Calling them a myth is about as rude as I get, but frankly it is a lie.
'I don't make any bones about it. It is fake news and it is an absolute disgrace to try and win this election by scaring pensioners about a policy that is not true.'

The Chancellor said: 'It may sound good to offer full employment rights from day one, and certainly pleases the unions. But if the impact is fewer new jobs, then the impact on young people and families up and down the country will be an unmitigated tragedy.'
The Tories claimed costings by the Treasury and independent bodies suggested Labour had commitments totalled £16billion per year in 2028-29, or £58.9billion over the next four years.
However, they said shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves was only proposing measures to raise £6.2billion extra revenue per year in 2028-29, or £20.4billion over the next four years.

Filling the cap would require tax rises equivalent to £2,094 for every working family in Britain, according to the Conservatives.
Mr Hunt suggested that Britain's worst economic woes were now in the rear view mirror.
'The truth is that I do think we have turned a corner,' he said.
He added that it would take time for that 'to feed through to how people feel'.
'In a general election, people are very smart about making the choice that is the right choice for their family going forward … People can see that Conservative governments have done the right thing to create growth that means families will be more prosperous going forward.'
A Labour spokesman said: 'This is another desperate attempt by the Tories to deflect from their £46billion unfunded tax plan that could lead to higher borrowing, higher taxes on pensioners or the end of the state pension as we know it.
'All of Labour's policies are fully costed and fully funded. Unlike the Conservatives who crashed the economy, Labour will never play fast and loose with the public finances.
'Jeremy Hunt would be better spent getting Rishi Sunak to confirm the date of the election, rather than putting out any more of these dodgy dossiers.'
The speech came after Mr Hunt was handed a boost with big banks starting to cut mortgage rates.
HSBC, Barclays and TSB have all declared they are trimming the cost of home loans, amid growing optimism that the Bank of England will start lowering the base rate soon.
The positive signs are a boost for the Chancellor as he ramps up for the looming general election battle.
The lenders' move comes just days after the Bank of England indicated it could lower interest rates as soon as next month.
HSBC is reducing mortgage rates on more than 100 of its fixed deals – with two, five and ten-year terms – for homeowners as well as landlords.
Meanwhile, Barclays is cutting rates on some of its deals by up to 0.45 percentage points. The rate on one of its five-year fixes, for borrowers remortgaging with a 40 per cent deposit, will go down from 4.77 per cent to 4.32 per cent. TSB has lowered rates on some two and five-year deals by up to 0.1 percentage points.
Mortgage rates are set independently, but they tend to anticipate the market's view of the path of the Base Rate, which is currently 5.25 per cent.
But last week the Bank of England gave its clearest signal yet it could cut its rate this summer. Governor Andrew Bailey said the fight against inflation was 'moving in the right direction' and did not rule out that a cut could come as soon as June.
Setting out the 'big divide' for the coming election, Mr Hunt insisted that only the Conservatives are committed to reducing the tax burden, which already stands at a post-War record and is set to rise further.
The Chancellor acknowledged that the Government has had to raise taxes to pay for the cost of Covid and energy support schemes. But he accused Labour of hypocrisy for criticising tax rises needed to fund policies it had supported, such as the furlough scheme.
ADVERTISEMENT 'It is playground politics to use those tax rises to distract debate from the biggest divide in British politics, which is what happens next,' he said.
'Conservatives recognise that whilst those tax rises may have been necessary, they should not be permanent. Labour do not.

Mr Hunt pointed out that the shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves failed to mention the tax burden during her Mais lecture, in which she set out her vision for the economy. Ms Reeves has said she wants to see lower taxes for 'working people' in the long term.
Further doubts about Labour's plans emerged last night when the shadow environment secretary Steve Reed acknowledged that the price tag for Sir Keir's plan to create a publicly owned Great British Energy could cost more than £80billion.
Labour later said three-quarters of the cash would come from the private sector, but Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho said this would still leave the taxpayer with a £20billion bill — dwarfing Labour's official estimate of £8billion.

Gething says he has asked his party to carry out a review into how donations are handled. And he has asked the senedd’s standards committee to look at how the rules operate. But he says it is wrong to change the rules retrospectively. He says he is grateful for the support he has had. Many people of colour know what it is like to be vilified, he says. I also want to recognise that, like me, so many people of colour have been traduced and vilified merely for raising concerns about how some of these debates have been handled.
