Here's a timeline of those offences:2006: Plumb attempts to kidnap two air hostesses on trains in separate incidents 2007: He pleads guilty to two counts of attempted kidnap, and is later sentenced to a prison term of 12 months, suspended for two years, with supervision and activity requirements 2008: Plumb attempts to falsely imprison two 16-year-old girls at a shop, tying one victim’s hands behind their back with rope and tape. He later pleads guilty to two counts of false imprisonment, and is later jailed for 32 months – he serves 16 months of the sentence in prison 2011: Plumb searches online for “how to meet people who plan to kidnap celebs” December 2021: Plumb engages in a “highly sexualised” discussion online with a man named Marc about a potential “home invasion” after identifying where Willoughby lived 2022: He tells Marc kidnapping Willoughby has been his “ultimate fantasy for way too long” and adds "fantasy isn’t enough anymore. I want the real thing" October 2023 An undercover US police officer spots Plumb post a photo of Willoughby on an online group called “Abduct Lovers” – Plumb says he has a “load of info on her” The next day, Essex Police was informed by the FBI of a possible threat to Willoughby and Plumb was arrested 4th July 2024: Plumb found guilty of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder television presenter Holly Willoughby

We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming," a Microsoft spokesperson says. One hospital source says systems affected so far include: IT service desks Transport booking systems Radiology reporting Rostering systems A system used by GPs to enable patients to book appointments or request repeat prescriptions Voice recognition software The NHS App It's a long list - but the systems are not entirely down and not every hospital and/or patient is affected.

Pointing to the home secretary's statement on the violence, a No 10 spokeswoman said: "He would echo that the scenes that we saw last night were shocking and disgraceful. And disorder of this nature has no place in our society. "That's why he would like to thank West Yorkshire Police and the emergency services for their swift support. "And the police have our full support in carrying out their investigations and taking the strongest possible action against perpetrators and keep the public safe." Asked about fears of community tensions being inflamed, she said: "The police have discouraged people from speculating on the cause of the disorder. "And the Prime Minister would also urge people to follow this advice. "But certainly, as the home secretary I think also outlined this morning, local partners and councillors will be working very closely with the community today to provide support and reassurance in light of the shocking scenes that we saw last night and prevent further disturbances."

There is a YouTube film of these guys of Asian descent actually trying to set fire to the bus, with lighters, and attempt to add card board to it to further influence the fire, one instance is at the engine the other seems to be along the side of the bus,no attempt by one of those in the film to cover their faces ...

I am certain they know how to do it but I doubt they realise how easy it would be to cause absolute chaos and panic...I said in other post that we have become far to reliant on IT, say what you want but this couldnt have happened in the days of old fashioned paperwork.

Surely that is confused logic? If they know how to do it, then they would be savvy enough to realise the impact...which is exactly why they would do it. But they didn't. In a twist of irony for the Luddites it was the leading anti hacking software company that issued a security patch (update) with a flaw that took down Microsoft Windows operating system. If you were operating with Apple or Linux you were not affected. It was not, I repeat not, specialist applications them selves.

I understand your view (I think) But I think you are missing the point that it was not applications themselves that were taken down, the applications we all use in our daily lives, but the computer operating system Microsoft Windows. As I understand it the applications I refer to are under constant hacking and phishing attacks, the very thing the security software company in question provides security against. Given the extent of the problem I found it remarkable that recovery was so quick. Flights from the USA grounded in the morning were back to near normal by early evening. Such are our interconnections we are always subject to such risks. But the productivity gains of the last 40 years are incredible

But the point remains, this was not the act of a hostile government. It was a flaw in our own software. As for "softening us up" that has been going on for years. From banking scams, to more recent jamming of GPS in aviation. And of course the use of "BOTS" to flood social media with false messaging to influence voters.

Coordinated attacks on the French railways infrastructure leading to disruption of trains to Paris where the Olympics open tonight. This type of attack and internet attacks will be part of how Wars will be fought.
