When Tony Blair was in charge of the country the population was 58 million , itâs now 68 million , 85 % of that immigration , population is expected to rise from 2021 - 2036 by 13.7 million .according to the bloke on the radio a minimum of 800, 000 houses will have to be built every year to catch up with the current shortfall & future population rise , building of infastructure , hospitals , roads etc etc will massively have to ramp up

As has been said, the two main parties don't offer any solutions.

Immigration is not a race issue, and it's sad that you think it is.

And the lefties shouted evil , despicable, inhumane when the uk came up with the Rwanda plan , the eu called it inhumane , now weâve got vdl endorsing a Rwanda planđđđ, letâs see what these lefties are going to do now , they condemned this country , said they didnât want any party , letâs see if there morals / principles are the same for the eu , we want No part of it !!!!!!!Von der Leyenâs EU group plans Rwanda-style asylum schemes Centre-right European Peopleâs party says it wants to create deportation deals with non-EU countries to head off rise of far right Lisa O'Carroll in Bucharest @lisaocarroll Wed 6 Mar 2024 16.19 GMT Share The European Commission chief, Ursula von der Leyen, has given her support to controversial migration reforms that would involve deporting people to third countries for asylum processing and the imposition of a quota system for those receiving protection in EU countries.
Manfred Weber, the leader of the European Peopleâs party (EPP), said the policies â similar to the UKâs Rwanda scheme â had been worked out with all the parties in the EPP political group, which includes von der Leyenâs Christian Democrat Union in Germany.
Warning that âthe far right wants to destroy Europe from the insideâ, Weber said the EPP would be âcrystal clearâ about its desire to reduce immigration in the campaign for the European elections in June.
Asked if von der Leyen â who is expected to be nominated as the EPPâs candidate for European Commission president at its annual congress in Romania â backed these policies, Weber said: âAll the programmatic positions of the European Peopleâs party are [supported] also by Ursula von der Leyen ⊠We do this as a team together.
He added: âWhat European people expect from us â and here the European Peopleâs party will be, in the campaign, crystal clear â you have to lower the numbers of arrivals. And we have to separate the visitors who are refugees and asylum seekers who should get the protection they need.â
The policy is seen as an initiative to head off the rise of far-right and extremist parties such as the AfD in Germany. It envisages the EU doing a series of deals with non-EU states with a view to deporting people who have arrived via irregular migration routes for asylum processing in those âsafeâ third countries.
The draft law advocating the fundamental change in European asylum regime will be considered at the EPPâs annual congress in Bucharest on Wednesday as part of the partyâs manifesto discussions.

Photograph: Daniel MihÄilescu/AFP/Getty Images The hardening of migration policy is likely to inflame tensions within the parliament and create external political risks for von der Leyen, who must represent the interests of the entire EU and not one political bloc in parliament, where the EPP is the largest grouping.
She is expected to be formally selected as the EPPâs official candidate for the European Commission presidency in a vote in Romania on Thursday, meaning that it will back her for a second term in office.
One Brussels insider said âthe socialists will go mad with thisâ â a reference to the Socialists and Democrats, the second-biggest voting bloc in the European parliament.
Sophie in ât Veld, a Dutch MEP and the lead representative for the liberal Renew group on the parliamentâs committee for civil liberties, justice and home affairs, called the measure âyet another unsavoury EPP chunk of red meat, meant to attract the far-right voteâ.
She added: âIt will not work. All the EPP strategy has achieved over the past years is making the far right bigger. So if they know it doesnât work, why do they stubbornly repeat the same tactics each time?â

Its manifesto says: âWe want to implement the concept of safe third countries. Anyone applying for asylum in the EU could also be transferred to a safe third country and undergo the asylum process there.â However, in what could be seen as an effort to set itself apart from the UKâs controversial Rwanda policy, the manifesto stresses that the âcriteria for safe countries shall be in line with the core obligations of the Geneva refugee convention and the European convention on human rightsâ.
It says that neither of the conventions âinclude the right to freely choose the country of protectionâ.
Developing the theme further, it says that after the âimplementation of the third country conceptâ, it proposes the EU then âadmit a quota of people in need of protection through annual humanitarian quotas of vulnerable individualsâ.
The publication of the manifesto and the launch of the EPP campaign could be start of a tricky period for von der Leyen. âI donât think she will have any difficulty among member states, but the parliamentary vote is another game altogether,â said one diplomat.
While very little legislation is left to negotiate, the bumps on the road to June act as a reminder of how von der Leyen came to power in 2019 â as a last-minute compromise candidate who was voted in with a wafer-thin majority.

The EU-Mauritania migration deal is destined to fail The agreement will not stem the flow of asylum seekers to European shores and could also destabilise Mauritania. Hassan Ould Moctar Hassan Ould Moctar Writer, researcher, and consultant. Published On 26 Mar 2024 26 Mar 2024 Would-be immigrants are transported in a car by Mauritanian police officials in Nouadhibou before being expelled from the country May 23, 2006. As Spain has improved cooperation with Morocco and Mauritania to close down clandestine migration routes, both on land and sea, would-be migrants have been setting off from further and further down the West African coast. REUTERS/Juan Medina Foreign nationals accused of trying to migrate towards Europe are transported in a car by Mauritanian police officials in Nouadhibou before being expelled from the country on May 23, 2006. [File: Reuteres/Juan Medina] On March 7, the European Union and Mauritania inked a 210-million-euro ($227m) migration deal. The agreement was spearheaded by the EU and lobbied for by the Spanish government, which is worried about an uptick in undocumented migration to the Canary Islands. In January, more than 7,000 arrivals were recorded on the islands.
The migration deal aims to decrease these arrivals by supporting the Mauritanian border and security forces to combat people smuggling and human trafficking and bolstering Mauritanian border management and surveillance capacities. The deal also promises funds for job creation in the country, strengthening the asylum system and legal migration schemes.
But a glance at the history of the EUâs âborder externalisationâ policies suggests this deal has little chance of meeting its stated objective. Worse still, the unprecedented public backlash it has generated in Mauritania threatens to destabilise the country. The eu,s Rwanda plan likely to destabilise a country !!! I though drunker & his mates were all lovely people , or thatâs what the remainiacs led us to believe !!

I see that a failed asylum seeker who should have been removed from the country (aircraft crew refused to fly with him aboard) has raped a 15 year old girl ! I hope that the do gooder aircraft crew are hunted down by the press and asked for their reaction, that poor young girl would not have been raped if those people had done their job.

I assume he'll now spend a ridiculously short time in prison, then a Muslim lawyer will fight his deportation order. This b****** may well be walking our streets again within 5 years. Vote Reform.

Commenting after Justice Minister Helen McEntee disclosed a Government estimate that 80pc of international protection applicants are crossing the land border with the North, Mr Martin blamed UK government policies.
âI believe the Rwanda effect is impacting on Ireland. And I think that didn't happen today or yesterday. It's been growing since the first iteration and publication of that strategy around Rwanda,â Mr Martin said in Amman, Jordan.
âI donât think anyoneâs gone to Rwanda yet, but to me it's reflective of a policy. Itâs more about the rhetoric and the politics than about having any real impact.
