Is this the longest amount of time we've gone continuing with a caretaker manager? ....or any club for that matter? Wasnt Harold Jarman caretaker manager from December 1979 until the end of the season ? Everyone thought he would be the manager after keeping Rovers in 2nd division but Terry Cooper was made manager during the close season and Rovers were relegated at the end of the following season.

I can't see Trolls dropping to League 1. He's been in the Championship or Prem since he left us.

Not a bad suggestion if we could lure him down a couple of divisions.

Not a bad suggestion if we could lure him down a couple of divisions. Bristol RoversIn June 2004 he moved to Bristol Rovers on a free transfer. In his second season, he became caretaker manager and was then appointed first-team coach in a two-tier managerial structure, alongside Director of Football Lennie Lawrence, in November 2005. His first season in charge ended in a respectable midtable position of 12th place in League Two. The following year Rovers reached the Football League Trophy final but lost to Doncaster Rovers. They made up for this loss by winning promotion to League One via the play-offs. Birmingham CityIn July 2011, Trollope was appointed first-team coach of Championship club Birmingham City to work with manager Chris Hughton. When Hughton left for Premier League club Norwich City at the end of the season, Trollope went with him, again as first-team coach. He left the club when Hughton was dismissed in April 2014. Cardiff CityAt the end of the 2015–16 season, Cardiff manager Russell Slade moved into a head of football role and Trollope was named as his successor. His first job in management since departing Bristol Rovers six years previously. Slade later resigned from his role, after just two weeks, on 3rd June. After a poor start to the season, winning 2 of his opening 12 matches, Trollope was sacked by the club on 4th October 2016. Brighton & Hove AlbionOn 24th November 2016, Trollope joined Brighton & Hove Albion as assistant manager. After the sacking of Chris Hughton on 13th May 2019 as Brighton manager, Trollope was also relieved of his duties at the club. Nottingham ForestOn 8th October 2020, Trollope again followed former manager Chris Hughton as assistant, joining Nottingham Forest. Luton TownIn November 2022, Trollope joined Luton Town as joint-assistant manager to former international teammate Rob Edwards.

I would think Dean Smith with his side kick Craig Shakespeare would be a good fit for Rovers.
Smith has achieved the criteria set out in the person spec' with both Brentford and Villa, he is well connected and respected within the game so would be trusted with loan players if required and his reputation may clinch decent signings.
I guess its weather he would want to return to a club in the 3rd tier?

Who’s going to boycott now Rishi Sunak has swapped politics for the managers job at Bristol Rovers? Personally I say, give him a chance. A lot of our best manager appointments seemed underwhelming at first, and vice versa. Rishi is likely well connected, the black book of contacts very important to any manager. He’s a bit of a celebrity, so the media interest will put us on the map in just the same way as the celebrity of Joey helped our national and wider profile. Remember the post: put Joey and Wael’s Twitter followers together and it now makes us bigger than Bristol City. City fans must hate us for bringing in these high profile managers.
How long should we give Sunak, till the end of the season at least? To be fair that’s only one transfer window if he feels he needs to shuffle the pack a bit. I’m okay with this appointment now it’s made, and pleased it is not Taylor - I can’t understand why anyone wanted Taylor to get it, his CV is empty, he’s achieved or proved nothing anywhere.
