I don't follow much football apart from Rovers so I'm not sure.
I think it needs to be someone who played at a decent level though and someone with the passing genetics of Barton, otherwise everything that has been built up through the training and players we have brought in will be wasted. As they got rid of GC I think that Wael and hopefully the other owners will think the same.
I wouldnt be surprised if it's a big name ex pro... Terry, Hasselbank etc.

That would be a real statement of intent by the new owners.

I think that Eustace was sacked from Brum for playing old school Wimbledon style.

I think that Eustace was sacked from Brum for playing old school Wimbledon style. TBH I've no idea why he was sacked but they were winning games unlike Rovers with 70% possession using the much loved tippy tappy game.

Love him or hate him JB did in some way put the name of our club ‘ Out There ‘, it would feel like a bit of an anti climax now if we went for a run of the mill manager and faded away to be just another one of the lower forty eight so I for one hope they opt for a “ name “ but one that can realistically push our club onwards.

If you want a big name then Mark Hughes was recently sacked as Bradford City manager...
Bradford City On 24th February 2022, Hughes was appointed manager of Bradford City on a deal until the summer of 2024. This was the first time he had managed a club outside the Premier League.
On 4th October 2023, Hughes was sacked as manager with Bradford sitting 18th in League Two. It was felt by the Bradford City players that Hughes was trying to shoehorn Premier League tactics into the League Two side. This ultimately contributed to the lack of success in his second season.
Hughes left Bradford with a win rate % of 37.8 from 82 games in charge.

I don't want any big shots. Someone appropriate and constent with the board's vision, if there is one. Then start recruiting compatible coaches to promote from within like DC and GC. Start with the expectation of winning more of the forty-six games than we lose, and build from there. Play football. Win matches. Don't be an embarrassment. Don't bankrupt the club. Make it enjoyable, and about the club, not about the manager. That'll do.

With the Smegma on this one.
Wilder is proven and been there and done that.
But ... The start we made and way we played was very encouraging under Mangan.
Much like GC, he had the ball back then and ran with it .... I just wonder?

I’d love us to go all out and get Dave Challinor at Stockport.

If you have talked with Ollie then you’d know he will not be back , it looks like the bookies have just got a list of all out of work ex managers. We shall see how long this goes on for. Hoping for some players, Vale and Azza to be played in their more natural positions

Would it be so bad to stick with Andy Mangan for the remainder of the season...

Would it be so bad to stick with Andy Mangan for the remainder of the season... Pre match yesterday I posted something similar. He's very charismatic and comes across well in interviews but after watching yesterday, I'm not so sure. The players needed directions when Northampton pulled one back, and I thought we defended too deep, inviting them on....we held on but it was far from convincing and I just wonder if he's a decent coach, but the role of managing a club is beyond him? Or even a Mango Whelan collaboration, I'm not convinced. I've shifted a bit. I would much like a proven successful manager at this level that fits with the fabric and ethos of what it means to be a GasHead...

Steve Cotterill is a realistic option
My dream but extremely unlikely would be Frank Lampard junior
Likely option Andy Monk.

In the book "Knight in Anarchy" by George Shipway, he describes how Knights horses are trained. They used straw shields to train the horses to run through shield walls. When they get to their first battle, they eagerly run straight in to the wall of wood and steel ful of confidence. By the time they get to their second or third battle they are not so keen and err on the cautious side in fact some refuse to run and take the risk. Some types of football manager are like that. They enter management after playing full of bravado from their priviledged life and charge straight at walls and make crazy ass decisions that sometime work. When their luck changes and it doesn't go their way and they get the sack because they aren't smart enough to change their behaviour, their next job becomes more cautious and usually less succesful. Some are plain bonkers and carry on doing what they have always been doing, like Warnock or Clough. But when you think of some of the guys we have had like Greydon and Atkins, their war weariness leads to ultra defensive and cautious behaviour.
From my point of view, we need someone who hasn't had the sack yet and can demonstrate how they turned a team around rather than inherited one. I don't want another bonkers manager, but somoene who is on the up rather than one the way down. I am not sure any of these names fit the bill. the bookies favourites, Garry Monk, Dean Holden and Neil Harris all have some miserable looking sackings on their CV where they failed to turn a club round.
If it were me, I would be looking to steal a management team from maybe a National League club. I don't know enough about the National League to name a name, but probably not Tommy Widdrington!
