One day, nobody will mention Barton's name again. Amen to that But until they stop referring to him as the former Bristol Rovers manager our name remains stained.

Bamber's right, of course, and while I'm delighted that it's 'former', I wish for a day when the stain on Rovers fades away, and as said by others, when Barton is ignored and forgotten by our whole society.
Joey Barton is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. He always was, as I wrote in February 2021. This was forseeable and foreseen. Wael Al Qadi is unfit to preside over Bristol Rovers.

He suffers from acute victim syndrome and should never have been employed in the first place. Let's hope the new owners and manager can reunite the split fanbase and get the feel good factor back.

I can only speak personally, but I was very happy with the latest owner's manager person specification, and to hear that coaching staff will be club men not the manager's men. Let the staff work for the club, and the manager pick the team. I feel good about the future, with cautious excitement.

Barton has done a podcast which is released tomorrow. The content affirms that this man is a cretin, a vile person and a stain on football let alone the club.
There’s a thread on the other forum about the podcast. I can hardly believe this man gets worse . Then he does something else.

I'm afraid that the acute problem of Barton syndrome was part of the chronic problem of Ben GarnerGate. You can trace it back to when GC departed.
That appointment put us back years.
What no one realised at the time was, it also divided the fan base and ripped out the heart of the staff by out sourcing everything...so we've had some poor appointments within the club hierarchy in conjunction.
It's now 4 years on.
I'm not convinced the new Matt Taylor will miraculously change things, but as ever for me, the jury is out before it's in. The team will always get my support but as Barton's gone in a way we only have ourselves to blame by appointment in 2021.

The buck stops with WAQ as he made the decisions with indecision and has used the club as his plaything, hobbyists are not good owner

Not seen a game since Dec 14th 2019. When Nichols scored from open play I knew something very very strange was about to happen. Much been going on?

My return to the Mem for a Rovers game is indeed vs Cheltenham. 1,456 days after the trip to Portman Road. Fitting that DC will be there because... Just because.

It was a Ground then and now it's a Stadium.

Actually, no Darlo. It was a Ground then and now it's a Stadium. SDG, I went to a 'Rugby School' (St. Brendan's College), so I put all my prejudices (being football-mad) aside, and embraced the game of rugby. I liked it. I was also lucky that the Rugby coach was the great Bristol Captain and fly-half John Blake; he was also my form teacher. A lovely man. John encouraged us kids to go to the Mem knowing some of us were Rovers/City fans, and as a local lad (Lockleaze), for me, it was no problem. Incidentally, the Mem in those days was a bit of a dump... oh, and of course, a ground I played football and rugby, but Eastville was always my venue of choice, Rovers my team (75 years a supporter next year) So when we came to the Mem after Twerton, I was well pleased. And we would still shout: #UpTheROVERS

We had a strong Welsh influence in the PE / Sports area and that year became a very strong Rugby oriented year. We use to delight in taking on St Brendans. We, our year, later won the Bristol Schoolboys cup. The rugby team was unbeaten for at least 3 years. One player played for England School boys, Ray Cashley went on to play Div 1 for the other lot.

What a boring fart I agree with Trymer. Barton should be erased from the memory just like I did with Barbara from Cardiff after my Locarno experience with her in 1979. Bugger, it's all coming back.
