Last weekend I saw Shay Given as a studio football pundit.
Should never be allowed; he's a goalkeeper! How can he talk about outfield football, played at the highest level, when he's never played competitive outfield football at any level whatsoever??
And to cap it all, over the course of the past week, I've seen a presenter on Homes Under The Hammer, and a presenter from The One Show, being used as football pundits!!
It's getting beyond a joke now... #MeritocracyRules

Oh dear. You do realise that sexualising everything a woman does is a big part of the problem. Lighten up Les, I am sure it was jocular in nature I am sure that it was intended that way. But it must be tedious for women to have so much of what they do framed by how they look. It is a sub conscious thing for so many men.

woman referee for Gloucester vs Clermont Auvergne last night - apparently a first for that level of European competition
was very good indeed, although as the commentators pointed out it was a very well-behaved game
soon no-one will notice

Even BBC radio 5 fighting talk first question this morning at 11am concerned Bartons comments and how Emma Hayes had dismissed them. The panelist said don't want to hear anymore Barton comments.
Also in todays Sun a graphic with a woman England International who had 147 caps and Barton England career 12 minutes!
Our former manager has certainly aroused comments nationally.

I really hope we soon forget and dissociate from this absolute state of a primate. At least keep him on either the general football (he's no-longer Rovers-related) or perhaps even the current affairs (he's decreasingly even football-related). Every other ex-Rovers man could conceivably return in some guise or other, especially the successful fellas. Of everyone ever employed by Rovers, Barton is one I think we may all agree would never, ever, return.

Barton claims Football Focus will be cancelled in Alex Scott jibe..by Michael Pavitt For Mailonline.
Joey Barton has suggested Football Focus could follow A Question of Sport in being cancelled by the BBC as he appeared to aim another jibe at the show's host Alex Scott.
The BBC confirmed on Friday night that the long-running sports quiz show had been cancelled after more than 1,300 episodes.
The corporation blamed inflation and dwindling ratings for the move, with the decision to halt production coming after long-running host Sue Barker was sacked, sparking fury among viewers. A Question of Sport first debuted in 1970 and was and initially fronted by former Match of the Day reporter David Vine, but is best known for being presented by Barker, who captained the programme for 24 years.
Barton, who has generated headlines for his tirade over whether women should be broadcasting in football, blamed 'wokeness' and 'poor quality guests' for the cancellation.
The former Man City midfielder directed his comments at Football Focus host Scott, with the pair having previously clashed over his criticism.
""Wokeness" Killed it. Poor quality guests. Standards dropped,' Barton posted on X, formerly Twitter.
'So sad to watch it slowly deteriorate. It was essential viewing as a kid who loved sports. Just like Soccer AM.
Barton's comments come after Mail Sport revealed in August that the 49-year-old programme had lost more than one third of its early-season audience in the space of four years.
The average weekly viewing figures for August had fallen from 849,000 in 2019 to just 564,000 at the start of this season.
The dramatic fall in viewing figures coincided with Scott replacing Dan Walker as Focus’ main presenter in 2021. In Walker’s last season before he was moved on the average weekly August audience was 827,000, before dropping to 809,000 in 2021, 599,000 12 months later and 564,000 this year.
Scott last week hit back at sexist digs made by Barton where he claimed before the weekend that women shouldn't be allowed to 'comment on men's football because they haven't played it'.
The former England star turned presenter gave an emotional monologue at the end of covering the Women's Super League clash between Arsenal and Chelsea last Sunday
'Just before we say goodbye, to all the women in football, in front of the camera, behind it, the players on the pitch, to everyone that attends games, keep being the role models that you continue to be,' she said.
'To all those young girls that are told no you can't, football is a better place with us all in it.'
Scott's comments prompted another attack from Barton, who has been out of work since being sacked as Bristol Rover manager in October.

QoS ran well under She Barker, my view is that the current presentation is crap, along with the " quizmaster" too much gob and the change in format isn't working

"Barton, who has generated headlines ..."
And that's what it's all about. The bloke can't stand being out of the limelight. Pathetic. So, so glad he's gone!

One of the reasons so few females make it to the top as referees is passing the fitness test.Same standards as the chaps but throughout history,Men's lap times,High jumps etc have always been better than the ladies. That's simply how it is. As a Linesman for many years we all had to take the same tests and I recall one well known Ref failing his test at Birmingham University by some distance. The 'Bleep test' was tough but then after 15 minutes recovery we had to do the sprint tests.Once you passed they issued your kit for the new season.
