The truth about the south stand , been speaking to a person who deals with planning applications on a daly bases , the company b r f c should and might have put a project manager In charge of the whole thing if heads roll it will be his . From the beginning the conversation would have gone like this , have you got planning permission…. Yes … ok we can make a start . First lie , law broken oh dear . Even demolishing the old south stand would cause noise and dust . The application went in in April but was not verified until the end of June planning permission if given would be 16 weeks after that. It looks as though b r f c will be given a fine or worse for ignoring these simple laws . This is probably why there is no lower price for Lincoln city I expect to pay top dollar for Barnsley but £26 for the east terrace do me a favour. Don’t get me wrong I have been a rovers fan since the tote end days and want the best for rovers , but this is shambolic. Yes good film

Great shame it wasn't announced that Col Custer was project manager for the temp south stand. The last action he was involved in at the club was telling a shareholder he had to leave the AGM because he was not welcome.I wonder if he has met the new owners yet, he'd struggle to tell them what his contribution is in the running of the club. Having said that, I wonder if the new Chairman has called a Board Meeting since he became the majority shareholder.

I'm hearing a small temporary south end stand is going up, next to the away terrace, while work continue on the permanent stand from the south west.
Can only assume it's to accommodate extra away fans.

It's a stand-in stand.

There is one silver lining from my perspective regarding this incompetent shambles, I was just about to pay for South Stand season tickets for my wife and myself when my gut turned over and I remembered my comment when the UWE was all the rage, “I’ll believe it when I see it”.

Attachment DeletedI suspect the other Bristol team will be somewhat amused!!!! The announcement when the new regime took over that we were speaking to several world class stadium design consultants is almost funny now several years later.Too sad though to be really funny so I will just support the Gas until my time runs out knowing at 77 there is little likelihood of me ever seeing us in a real stadium. Think Eastville on my first ever match 10 th Sept 1955 when we beat Forest 4.1 was more impressive and that was nearly 70 years ago!!!! but hey ,keep the faith.

The latest photo of the new South West Stand reminds me of the small section of covered terrace (on the right of this picture) which was between the North Enclosure and Tote End at Eastville.

Think it was a separate bit to the one you are referring to .Adjacent but divided from it.Those were the days when the Police would be marched in in formation military style at the Concorde/Her Majesty's cinema end. When I last watched the Gas at Burton one Staffs Police officer in full uniform had a pony tail!!!! Times have changed.

Times have changed. Times have certainly changed but I wonder whether our leaders today know how “ back to the future” the building of that little stand is. Since posting earlier I see some on Gaschat are now questioning the idea of developing the other three sides of the ground using the same rudimentary design we see with the South Stand. Even suggesting that with a little more thought we could have had something much better there which could have been replicated to gradually create a modern and aesthetically pleasing stadium. You are much more diplomatic than me in highlighting Rovers continual failings on the stadium front but I’d say WTF are people posting about this now ? The time for fans genuinely interested in Rovers progression to post about it was six months ago when it might have been possible to persuade our leaders to think twice before blundering in.

The South stand aka Geoff Bradford South stand will be appreciated by new generations of gasheads
I'm looking forward to my two grandsons sitting in it with me for the opening fixture on Boxing day against Portsmouth.
A proper Christmas treat

I doubt Hofmeister was around before the North Stand was built and that must have been taken reasonably recently as the Tote End "clocks" are nowhere to be seen?

North Stand was built and paid for by Rovers supporters club in 1958.BRSC at that time had something like 10000 members with the club averaging gates of 20000 The stand first used for the visit of Scunthorpe United. Heady days indeed.
