Nobby, I love your eternal optimism and your belief in the sunlit uplands. I can't wait to see us becoming world beating as we have been promised and all those deals come rolling in! I just hope I'm alive to see it. After all Rees Smugg said it could be 50 years. I have no idea why remainers talk about 'sunlit uplands'? World beating? I don't think anyone claims that. The government just lay the groundwork with trade deals. It is then up to businesses to take advantage and that is totally out of the control of government. Well, it did take 40+ years before the public were allowed a say in the whole EU issue. Sunlit uplands was originally spoken by one Winston Churchill. Following the 2016 referendum it was first mentioned by Andrea Leadsom and then adopted by a number of Tory MPs to describe the future for the UK. A notable user of the quote was The MP for North East Somerset, one Jacob Rees Smugg, now of course, courtesy of Boris Johnson Sir..... World beating was the constant expression of PM Boris Johnson, notably through the Covid period and was taken up by other Tory MPs to describe many things that were going to be great. The best was the world beating Track & Trace that was being developed and cost Β£37 billion and was an abject failure. You say it is out of the Government hands, but they were the ones, notably those who have been in power since 2016, who told us it was going to be a success. No one said it was up to business, to companies, to us the people. We were told there was an 'oven ready deal' with the EU, that 'car companies will be beating a path to our door' that the world would be our oyster and that we would have a trade deal with the USA in next to no time. None of that has happened. Whether people had a vote or not over 40 years, the UK was a leading light in EU, we had amazing influence locally and globally, we were 5th largest power by GDP [now 6th]. We were told it would be even better outside and that has not proved to be the case. Unless you can show us different.....

Britain is out of the EU,Britain will never return to the EU, time to the bitter remainers to move on or campaign for 40 years for another referendum...although I doubt the EU will exist by then.

Nail on the head. If people want to re-join then form a political party. Campaign on just that, re-joining the EU. Put their arguments across. Gain public support and use the democratic process.......just like Farage did πππ

Not stick your fingers in your ears, your head in the sand and pretend what we see and witness is not true. Face reality, this is a sh*t show which you lot inflicted on the rest of us. You must be so proud. Late edit. Just had a lovely meal in La Brasserie Bordelaise in Bordeaux so now nice and relaxed on this sunny afternoon here. Thinking about you people who fell for it and voted us out. We lost, we accept it. But we do not accept not holding you lot to account for what you have done. That's for you to defend, not us. How's it going so far?? πππ

And when I have tried to talk to Brexiteers and have a decent conversation I have been told 2 things. F*** off, you lost, get over it. Secondly, the losses we are making are worth it to get our sovereignty back. You know that sovereignty we never lost. And do you think that the newspapers would report a rejoiners party statements accurately and factually? Currently only a small number would.

Basking like a beached Whale, starved of the oxygen of truth, they lie there, lifeless. Unable to justify anything.

I thought that we might be in for a hard few years but i have only met one person who said it affected his business (military surplus) but tbh he had been saying that business was bad since 2012. Walking the dog around here and every street has at least one house having an extension or some work done, some streets have 4 houses with building work going on,theres a labour shortage so theres loads of work for people. Since the war in Ukraine my shopping has gone up a few quid a week but even in Aldi there is British meat, veg, eggs and fruit so much better than the tasteless cr@p from the EU, I suppose that before Brexit our decent stuff was being exported now its easier to sell it here. I remember laughing the morning after the Brexit vote at all the pro EU lot on the radio crying and whining,I didnt think that they would still be at it 7 years later !!!! mind you its funny as **** so thats another little bonus. The EU will disintegrate over the next 10 to 15 years, that is a certainty, once the nationalist parties in Europe win elections or form coalitions they will be at constant loggerheads with the EU parliament, what will happen when the nationalists win EU elections ?...we are well out of it sat on ther sidelines and getting on with our own lives.

There you have it, in a nutshell. Anecdotal evidence, my mate down the pub stories, not a shred of empirical evidence to justify blind faith and then hysterical forecasts. Yep, a true Brexit supporter.
