Steve Cotterill: Forest Green Rovers appoint former Shrewsbury Town manager as boss..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/E205/production/_132416875_shutterstock_editorial_13894378an.jpg Forest Green are the 10th EFL club Steve Cotterill, who left his last job at Shrewsbury last summer, has managedStruggling League Two side Forest Green Rovers have appointed Steve Cotterill as their manager. The 59-year-old replaces Troy Deeney, who was sacked on 18 January after six games in charge. Cotterill takes over with the club rooted to the bottom of League Two and facing a battle to preserve their English Football League status. The Gloucestershire club have not won in their past 12 league games and are six points from safety. Cotterill has a wealth of experience across the EFL and most recently managed Shrewsbury Town for two and a half years, leaving in June last year. He spent five years at hometown club Cheltenham Town early in his managerial career, taking them from the Southern League to the Football League for the first time in 1999. Cotterill also won promotion with Notts County and led Bristol City to the League One and EFL Trophy double in 2015. His other former clubs include Stoke, Burnley, Portsmouth and Nottingham Forest. "I'm delighted to welcome Steve Cotterill to FGR. His record speaks for itself with 25 years of experience in all leagues of the EFL, spanning nearly 900 games," said owner Dale Vince. "Steve knows what it takes and shares our determination to avoid relegation this season. Then build our way back up to League One and looking upward again. "I'm sure our fans will welcome this appointment and Steve to our club." Cotterill will take charge of training on Thursday and is expected to be in the dugout for their game against Accrington Stanley. He becomes Forest Green's sixth manager since June 2022, following Rob Edwards, Ian Burchnall, Duncan Ferguson, David Horseman and Deeney. Following Deeney's departure, Vince said the club were looking for "experience" in their next boss, after appointing a string of managers who had never managed in the EFL before. Forest Green have failed to create any stability ever since winning promotion to League One for the first time in 2022 under Edwards, who subsequently left for Watford. They struggled throughout the campaign in the third tier and were instantly relegated back to League Two. But the slide has not stopped, with Forest Green winning just four league games so far this season to leave them facing a potential return to the National League.

Adding to the post above: Darren Moore: Huddersfield Town sack boss after three wins in 23 games.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15F49/production/_132492998_gettyimages-1967752176.jpg Huddersfield have made several January signings, including striker Rhys Healey, but results are yet to improveHuddersfield Town have sacked boss Darren Moore after just three wins in 23 matches in all competitions. The 49-year-old, who led Sheffield Wednesday to promotion to the Championship last season, replaced Neil Warnock as Terriers boss in September. However, they struggled for form throughout his short tenure and he leaves Town with the club winless in their past six in all competitions. They are 21st in the second tier and three points above the relegation zone. Owner Kevin Nagle told BBC Radio Leeds earlier this month that Moore was "not going anywhere" despite their lack of wins. Sunday's draw with fellow strugglers QPR, in which they conceded a 95th-minute equaliser, was a third successive 1-1 draw and left them without a win since 26 December. "We appointed Darren on the strength of his credentials as a manager, but it is now clear that this has not worked as we envisaged and hoped," he told the club website. "I believe that our current squad is capable of more, particularly on the back of the work we have carried out in this transfer window, and we're quickly moving to identify the right person to lead them through a crucial period of the season. We hope to make that managerial appointment soon." Moore guided the Owls to promotion through the League One play-offs last season after they finished third, despite winning 96 points. Despite that he left Wednesday the following month by mutual agreement after a disagreement with the club's owner Dejphon Chansiri. Town chief executive Jake Edwards called Moore the "standout candidate" after an "extensive recruitment process" upon his appointment in September, after veteran Warnock left to allow them to make a "longer-term appointment". Moore has not proven to be that appointment and the Terriers are now looking to bring in a fifth new boss since Carlos Corberan quit in July 2022. "We're looking for our next appointment to have a big short-term impact, but also to fit with our longer-term strategy of building an attack-minded, progressive style of football over a number of seasons," Edwards said after Moore's dismissal.

Paul Hurst: Shrewsbury Town re-appoint former boss to replace Matt Taylor..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/E006/production/_132405375_gettyimages-1409956842.jpg Paul Hurst was sacked by Grimsby Town in October 2023League One side Shrewsbury Town have re-appointed Paul Hurst as head coach. The 49-year-old re-joins The Shrews following the dismissal of Matt Taylor, after a run of seven defeats in eight games. Hurst previously managed the club for 19 months from 2016 to 2018, leading Salop to the League One play-off final in 2018, which they lost to Rotherham. He left Shrewsbury just three days later to replace Mick McCarthy as boss of Ipswich Town. However, things did not got to plan as the Tractor Boys won just one of his 15 games in charge before Hurst was sacked after less than five months. Following his exit from Ipswich, Hurst spent a seven-month spell as boss at Scunthorpe United before he returned to Grimsby Town, where he had started his managerial career, in 2020, guiding them back into the English Football League in 2022 via the National League play-offs. His second spell at the Mariners ended in October, and he joins Shrewsbury with the Shropshire side sitting in 20th place in the table, four points above the relegation places. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7A9F/production/_132419313_gettyimages-958124032.jpgPaul Hurst won 47 of his 97 games in charge during his first spell as manager of Shrewsbury from October 2016 to June 2018

Nathan Jones: Charlton Athletic appoint former Southampton and Luton manager..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/38B1/production/_132531541_jones_v2_020224_rex.jpg Nathan Jones won one out of eight league games in a three-month stint at SouthamptonLeague One strugglers Charlton Athletic have appointed former Southampton and Luton Town boss Nathan Jones as their manager on a "long-term contract". Jones, 50, has been out of work since being sacked by Saints in February 2023 after just 95 days in charge. The Addicks dismissed Michael Appleton last month after a 12-match winless run. That run has now extended to 14 games, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone. Welshman Jones took Luton to the Championship play-off semi-finals in the 2021-22 season, where they lost to Huddersfield. He was then appointed to replace Ralph Hasenhuttl as manager of the then Premier League Saints in November 2022 but was sacked after three months, with one win in eight league games leaving the club bottom of the league. "He is a manager of real pedigree who has a track record of building successful teams over a period of time," James Rodwell, chairman of the Charlton board, said. "He is a great fit for Charlton given his ability to get his teams playing football on the front foot, with a passion and an intensity. "He is an excellent coach, who is tactically savvy and an outstanding developer of talent." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/145AE/production/_132547338_gettyimages-1465270535.jpgJones spent a season at The Valley in 2012-13 as Charlton's under-21s lead coach before becoming assistant head coach at Brighton. "It is a club that I have fond memories of from my time here and I want to play my part in moving the club forward," he said. "I have been approached by a number of clubs to get back into management but I have been waiting for the right opportunity. "From my conversations with the board and given the long-term nature of the contract, I can see there is a real appetite to build something here which I am really looking forward to being a part of." Jones' first game in charge will be on Saturday at relegation-threatened Reading, who are two places and three points below Charlton.

Barry Robson: Aberdeen sack manager saying eighth place is 'unacceptable'..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10036/production/_132509556_20926398.jpg Barry Robson had signed a two-year contract in MayAberdeen have sacked Barry Robson after just nine months as manager, describing the club's position of eighth in the Scottish Premiership as "unacceptable". Boos rang out around Pittodrie following Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home to sixth-place Dundee. Robson, who was appointed in the summer after impressing as caretaker boss, had said "there is no panic from me" after his side's third game without a win. But Aberdeen have decided to seek their fourth manager in three years. Chairman David Cormack said: "Although it has been a difficult call, the board felt the change was necessary and in the best interests of Aberdeen. "Barry earned the right to be Aberdeen manager and knew the high level of expectation we had when he took the role. "We gave Barry as much time and support as we possibly could in the hope, and expectation, he could return us to the league form we witnessed in the spring of last year." With assistant manager Steve Agnew also departing Pittodrie, first-team coach Peter Leven, assisted by Scott Anderson, will take temporary charge. Robson replaced Jim Goodwin on an interim basis in January and signed a two-year contract in May for his first full-time managerial role.

Neil Warnock: Aberdeen appoint veteran as interim manager..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/24DB/production/_132553490_warnock2.jpg Warnock says he hopes he "can put a smile on the faces" of Aberdeen fansAberdeen have named Neil Warnock as their interim manager and expect to appoint a new boss for the 2024-25 campaign before the end of this season. The 75-year-old takes over from Barry Robson, who was sacked last week after a year in charge with the Dons eighth in the Scottish Premiership. Warnock will be in charge for Tuesday's league game against Rangers at Ibrox. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge - Aberdeen is a big club with clear ambition," he said. His assistant Ronnie Jepson has also joined Aberdeen while Peter Leven will continue as first-team coach. The Yorkshireman came out of retirement a year ago and kept Huddersfield Town in the Championship but left the job last September. "I've made no secret of the fact I've always wanted to manage in Scotland so when I spoke to Dave [Cormack, chairman] and Alan [Burrows, chief executive] and they asked me to help out it just felt like the right opportunity," he added. "By all accounts there is a good group of lads here and it's my job now to get the best out of them. "I'm hoping that during my time here the supporters will get behind the team and I can put a smile on their faces." ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/2/5/dbcf106b-7072-43ad-b616-7d80e04c6488.jpgNeil Warnock joins Aberdeen along with his assistant Ronnie Jepson.Neil Warnock Stats: Age: 75, Clubs: 17 inc Sheff.Utd, Burton, QPR, Leeds, Cardiff, Totals: P:1,952 - W:799 - D:514 - L:639 = 40.93 Win Ratio %

Andy Crosby: Port Vale sack manager after one win in eight games..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/17101/production/_132556449_valecros.jpg Andy Crosby won 13 of his 40 games in charge of Port ValePort Vale have sacked manager Andy Crosby after less than year in the job. Vale have won just once in eight games to leave them 20th in League One, two points above the relegation zone - albeit with games in hand. Assistant manager John Schofield will also leave his position. Crosby joined Vale as Darrell Clarke's assistant in March 2021, twice taking over as interim boss before getting the job on a more permanent basis after Clarke was sacked in April 2023.. Crosby had already taken over in a caretaker capacity when Clarke was off on compassionate leave - and led Vale out in the League Two play-off final at Wembley, where they beat Mansfield Town. He also this season led Vale to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, where they were beaten by Middlesbrough in December - the furthest they had ever been in the competition. Vale made five loan signings in the January transfer window, although one of them, Rhys Williams, had to return to parent club Liverpool because of injury - and he also lost his two main loan signings, Sheffield United's Oli Arblaster and Tottenham's Alfie Devine, who were both recalled. But, in Saturday's first game since, they lost 3-0 at fellow strugglers Fleetwood, to leave them just two points clear of trouble. It is all in stark contrast to the start of the season when they won five of their first seven games to go second in League One. But they have won just three times in 20 league matches since. Vale have not yet said who will be in caretaker charge for Tuesday's home game against Leyton Orient - but they say "the search for a new manager has already begun".

John Eustace set to become the new manager of Blackburn Rovers after agreeing his contract and will replace Jon Dahl Tomasson following dismal eight-game winless run.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/08/13/81016377-0-image-a-14_1707398959478.jpgJohn Eustace is set to become the new manager of Blackburn Rovers after agreeing his contract with the Championship side. As previously reported, the former Birmingham City boss will join on a two-and-a-half-year deal, with current manager Jon Dahl Tomasson and his assistant Remy Reijnierse set to leave Ewood Park. The Danish manager is believed to have offered to resign from the club following their eight-game winless run. Blackburn missed out on the play-offs on goal difference alone last season, but are struggling down in 18th this campaign. Eustace has been out of a job since Birmingham City made the surprising decision to sack him when they were in a play-off position, and replaced by Wayne Rooney in October. The England international's stint in the dugout lasted just 15 matches in charge, which saw Rooney win just 10 points from a possible 15 and plummet down the table from sixth to 20th.

Darren Moore: Port Vale appoint ex-WBA, Doncaster, Huddersfield & Sheff Wed boss..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/976/cpsprodpb/10511/production/_132633866_shutterstock_editorial_13934108gm.jpg Darren Moore won promotion from League One with Sheffield Wednesday in May 2023Port Vale have appointed Darren Moore as their new manager. The 49-year-old former West Bromwich Albion, Doncaster Rovers Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday boss has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract. Moore succeeds Andy Crosby, who was sacked last week after a run of just one win in eight games. "We identified Darren as our primary target to come in and galvanise and energise the club," said Vale director of football David Flitcroft. "Following extensive conversations, it's clear to the board that he has a plan of how he wants to lead the club from the very front." Following Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Stevenage, Vale remain in the relegation zone in 21st place, but level on points with the side above them, Charlton Athletic - ahead of Tuesday evening's trip to promotion-chasing Peterborough United, Moore' victims in last season's sensational League One play-off semi-finals. Moore added: "Our immediate aim is securing the club's League One status between now and the end of this season whilst putting the foundations in place to create a clear footballing identity. "The contract is a long-term commitment, a testament to the long-term vision of the club."

Adding to the post above: Roy Hodgson: Crystal Palace manager stable in hospital after falling ill during training..By Alex Howell, BBC Sport.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/be38/live/7db04610-cc23-11ee-a734-b5c4e6ed1081.jpgCrystal Palace say manager Roy Hodgson is stable in hospital after he was "taken ill" during training on Thursday morning. Palace cancelled a news conference after the 76-year-old became unwell. It was widely reported on Thursday morning that Palace are set to sack Hodgson, with the club 15th in the Premier League and five points clear of the relegation zone. Palace face Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Monday. "Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today's training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital," the club said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery." BBC Sport understands that Hodgson is set to lose his job, with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner a strong favourite to replace him. Hodgson took charge of his 200th match as Palace manager earlier this week, with his side beaten 3-1 at Selhurst Park by Chelsea. The club have won three league games since their victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in September and have lost 10 of their past 16 top-flight matches. The former England boss is in his second stint in charge of Palace, having returned for the final 10 games of last season when he signed a short-term deal to take over from Patrick Vieira. He led the club to 11th in the table before agreeing to continue to manage the side for the 2023-24 campaign. IMO Roy should have quit at the top saving CP from the drop last season...

Michael Beale: Sunderland sack head coach after 12 games..by Simon Jones, Mail-Online.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/19/14/81446413-13100591-image-a-1_1708353066668.jpgSunderland are on the hunt for a new manager after Michael Beale has left his role. Mail Sport understands that Beale, who was only appointed as Black Cats boss just before Christmas, wasn't happy with things behind the scenes. The outcome comes after Sunderland suffered a second-successive defeat in the Championship - this time at the hands of Birmingham City. Saturday's defeat in the Midlands was compounded further by Beale having to apologise after being criticised for ignoring Trai Hume when the latter tried to shake his hand after being substituted. Viral footage landed Beale in hot water with some sections of Sunderland supporters - with many calling him to be sacked, prior to Monday afternoon's sudden departure. The incident happened in the 88th minute when Hume was withdrawn as Beale's side trailed Birmingham 2-1 and sought a late equaliser. Hume, 21, stuck out his hand to Beale as he walked behind him to the substitutes bench but was blanked by his manager who continued to closely monitor the game.

Oliver Glasner: Crystal Palace appoint former Eintracht Frankfurt boss as manager..

The 49-year-old Austrian replaces Roy Hodgson, who stepped down on Monday so Palace could "bring forward their plans to appoint a new manager at the end of the season". Palace are 16th in the Premier League after 10 defeats in the past 16 games. Glasner has signed a contract until June 2026 and will be in charge for Saturday's home game against Burnley. He was pictured watching Tottenham's defeat by Wolves on Saturday, with Spurs hosting Palace on 2nd March. Hodgson's coaches Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy will be in charge of Monday's game at Everton. It is unknown if Glasner, who is yet to appoint a coaching team, will be at Goodison Park. "I am very happy to join Crystal Palace," said Glasner. "I am looking forward to working with the talented squad, meeting the club's supporters and experiencing the Selhurst Park atmosphere I have heard so much about. "It has been a pleasure to meet with Steve [Parish, chairman] and Dougie [Freedman, sporting director], and I am looking forward to working with them to achieve our goals." "I'm delighted to welcome Oliver to the club," said Parish. "He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage. "Wherever Oliver has gone so far in his managerial journey, success has been quick to follow, and we believe his ambition, as well as his exciting and attacking approach is the perfect fit for getting the most from our talented young squad in the remainder of this Premier League season and beyond."

The Eagles have since appointed former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner, 49, as his permanent successor. Hodgson, 76, was "taken ill" during training on Thursday amid reports he was to be sacked, with Palace five points above the relegation zone. "This club is very special and means so much to me," said Hodgson. The Eagles have lost 10 of their past 16 Premier League games and are 16th in the table. They visit Everton, who are 18th, on Monday. "I have fully enjoyed my time here across six seasons, as it has given me the chance to work with top-class players and staff doing what I love every day," added Hodgson. "However, I understand, given recent circumstances, it may be prudent at this time for the club to plan ahead, and therefore I have taken the decision to step aside so that the club can bring forward their plans for a new manager, as intended for this summer. "I am confident that the season will finish well and I wish the team every success in the weeks, months and seasons to come."

Millwall: Neil Harris returns as manager after Joe Edwards sacked..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15FD6/production/_132707009_harris_210224_rex.jpg Neil Harris was only named manager of Cambridge United in DecemberFormer Millwall boss Neil Harris has returned to the club to replace sacked head coach Joe Edwards. Edwards was dismissed on Wednesday after a run of seven defeats in eight games left the club one point above the Championship relegation zone. Harris, 46, was only appointed Cambridge United manager in December but will now return to The Den on a contract until June 2025. He previously spent four years as Millwall manager from 2015 until 2019. Harris, the club's all-time top scorer, said it was a "privilege" and an honour" to return to the Lions. "To get the phone call to be asked to come back here was an honour - a surprise as well, it came out of the blue - but I'm galvanised and energetic. I want to be here," he told the club's website. "We're in a sticky situation at the moment, so there is work to be done quickly; full focus goes into the next couple of months." Harris will be joined by Dave Livermore, who was also his assistant previously at Millwall, Cardiff and Gillingham, alongside Adam Barrett. "Neil knows this club as well as anybody and understands exactly what it takes to be successful here," said chairman James Berylson. "We are in a difficult moment but he and Dave have jumped at this opportunity and that says a lot about their affection for Millwall and their fierce drive and determination to help improve performances and results." Edwards, 37, joined the club in November as successor to Gary Rowett for his first job in senior management. The former Chelsea and Everton assistant coach lost 11 of his 19 matches in charge, including a 2-0 home defeat by fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. "This has, of course, been a very tough time and it is not a decision that we have taken lightly," Berylson said. "Joe has worked incredibly hard during his spell with us and it is with sincere regret that the move hasn't worked out for both parties in the way we had anticipated. "I cannot praise him highly enough for his professionalism, standards, values, and work ethic, and I am confident he will have a long and successful career as a head coach." Edwards' assistant Andy Myers has also left the club.

Accrington Stanley: John Coleman and Jimmy Bell sacked by League Two club..

Coleman, 61, was in his second spell in charge of Stanley, which began in September 2014 - but his contract was due to expire at the end of the season. Stanley lie 16th in League Two after Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Wrexham. "Accrington confirm that John Coleman and Jimmy Bell have been informed their contracts are terminated with immediate effect," said a club statement. "Everyone at the club thanks them for their long-standing service and we wish them all the very best for the future." Liverpudlian Coleman first took over as boss of Accrington in their non-league days in 1999. Coleman and Bell took the reformed club back into the Football League in 2006 before leaving in 2012 to manage then League Two neighbours Rochdale. But, after lasting just a year at Spotland, they returned to Accrington in 2014 after short spells at Southport and Sligo Rovers. Coleman and Bell then won a second promotion with Stanley to League One in 2018, the highest the club had ever been, but they were relegated back to the EFL's bottom tier in May 2023. The club are yet to announce who will take charge for Stanley's next game, this coming Saturday at home to Bradford City. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/00B6/production/_132828100_jcjb.jpg Former team-mate Jimmy Bell (right) has been John Coleman's right-hand man throughout his time in managementAt 9 years and 6 months, in this second spell in charge, Coleman was the longest-serving manager purely in the EFL. That is a record now taken on by Coventry City boss Mark Robins, who has been in post since March 2017. However, two Premier League managers - Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp (October 2015) and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola (June 2016) - have been in position longer. Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver has been in his job since May 2009, but the Yorkshire club did not get into the EFL until 2020. 'The end of an era' for Accrington Analysis - BBC Radio Lancashire's Accrington Stanley commentator Dan JewellIt's the end of an era. Of course it's a surprise after all that John Coleman and Jimmy Bell have done for Accrington Stanley, the success they've had and the regard that they're held in not just by Stanley fans but by the general football-watching public. But, given the background noise coming out of the club, and the fact they were out of contract this summer, I'm not really surprised by the timing of it, coming after the 4-0 defeat at Wrexham, when they were four down by half-time. They've only won three games in this calendar year, lost their last three and have only taken five points out of the last 21 available. But there were plenty of mitigating factors, mostly the number of players that they have been without. John Coleman said only last week before the Wrexham game that if you were to take any squad in football and take out their seven or eight top players for a significant part of the season then that team would struggle, whoever they are.

Garry Monk: Cambridge United name ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss as head coach..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/A247/production/_132834514_monknew.jpg Garry Monk has been out of management since Sheffield Wednesday sacked him in November 2020Former Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United boss Garry Monk has been named as the new Cambridge United head coach on a contract to the summer of 2026. The 44-year-old replaces Neil Harris, who quit the U's after just 17 games in charge to take over at Millwall. Monk began his managerial career with Swansea City and his former clubs also include Middlesbrough and Birmingham. He has been out of football since he was sacked by Wednesday in November 2020 after 14 months at Hillsborough. Cambridge majority owner Paul Barry said: "He is a coach of high pedigree, has managed at the top level and impressed us all with his leadership skills, clarity of thinking and his analysis of Cambridge United - both the squad and the club. "Although he has had opportunities to get back into the game over recent times, he has been waiting for the right one. Like us, he sees this as a project and we are pleased he has decided to join us on the journey ahead." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/100B1/production/_132831756_gettyimages-2046556973.jpgBarry Corr played 48 league games for Cambridge at the end of his playing careerCambridge have lost their last four games - the last three to top-six teams with Barry Corr in interim charge. They are 19th in the League One table, just four points above the relegation places, and Monk's first match at the helm will be at home to Northampton Town on Saturday. "We do, of course, all recognise that there is the immediate challenge of securing our League One future after what has been a difficult period for everyone at the club, following Neil Harris' unexpected and sudden departure," added Barry. "In many ways the season starts now. We have 11 games to go. We know what we need to do and we know that it will require a collective team effort with everyone playing their part in helping us get over the line - players, staff and fans." Monk made 270 appearances for Swansea over 11 years, becoming player-manager in February 2014, initially on an interim basis. He was sacked in December 2015 but was appointed by Leeds the following summer, only to resign after a single season following a takeover by Andrea Radrizzani. He lasted only six months at Middlesbrough before moving on to Birmingham and then Wednesday, who were next to bottom of the Championship when he was sacked.

Adding to the post above: Watford: Tom Cleverley named interim boss after Valerien Ismael sacked..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/38A1/production/_132879441_watford3.png Valerien Ismael is replaced by Tom Cleverley, who retired from playing last yearWatford have sacked boss Valerien Ismael following a run of only one win in 10 league games, with Tom Cleverley named as interim head coach. Former Manchester United and England midfielder Cleverley, 34, had been coaching their under-18 side after his retirement from playing last year. The Hornets, who are 13th in the Championship, say Cleverley's staff will be "confirmed in due course". Ex-Barnsley and West Brom boss Ismael joined Watford in May 2023. The 47-year-old's departure means the club are now looking for their 11th head coach since 2018 and eighth since the end of the 2020-21 season. Since Sean Dyche left Vicarage Road in 2012, Gianfranco Zola, Giuseppe Sannino, Oscar Garcia, Billy McKinlay, Slavisa Jokanovic, Quique Sanchez Flores, Walter Mazzarri, Marco Silva, Javi Gracia, Nigel Pearson, Vladimir Ivic, Xisco Munoz, Claudio Ranieri, Roy Hodgson, Rob Edwards, Slaven Bilic and Chris Wilder have also had spells in charge. Ismael, who arrived at Vicarage Road following a spell in Turkey with Besiktas, previously led Barnsley to the Championship play-offs in 2021. But he lasted only eight months at West Brom before leaving in February 2022. Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Coventry was their third in four matches and sixth in their past eight games, with their only win in the previous 10 coming against bottom club Rotherham. "The Hornets thank Valerien and his staff for their dedication and commitment," said a club statement. "However, the club's board considers it an appropriate time to make a change in order to improve results."
