Mods Is this really necessary? Oh the irony. " You really have no clue at all do you. What have you contributed to society during your working life? Yet you have the brass f**king neck to sit in judgement of people that will have done more for the benefit of others in one week than you will in a lifetime. When you say “I think” its crystal clear that you either can’t or won’t and “I believe” or “I bet” cuts no ice with me because I’ve shat things with more substance. " You think that what was written there is ok Oldie? This is Oldie trouble making, following and encouraging someone being abusive to me.He's been at it for a year or so I guess. The section of Smegs post you quote is an example of individual civil service spite and arrogance. He is pround of being like that. It's not difficult to see how some of these arrogant civil servants might be tempted to block Government policy and therefore damage our democracy. As those did that refused to accept their Remainer side lost.

Gentlemen, as I have requested on another thread, please play the ball not the player. Let's draw a line under personal attacks, please. And that request is to all players.

As those did that refused to accept their Remainer side lost. Civil servants are obligated to support the Government of the day. Raab, Johnson and others don't get that. Their advice is neutral so when they seem to criticise the Government with statistics that don't suit the agenda, anger ensues. The bullying complaints came from a number of departments and from a number of people. As for Remainers not accepting the result. Many people fought for years against the EU, Look at Farage. The UK economy, moral standing and reputation has tanked since we left the EU and the Government are scraping around for pathetic little deals. We are on line to perform worse than Russia, a country at war and with sanctions against it! Really! I have yet to hear of any benefit from having left the EU. And please don't insult my intelligence by saying, we got our Sovereignty back. We always had it. We are just worse off.

Every day seems to bring good news on the political front. Will pop the champagne cork when the pint sized toby jug grows the cojones to sack Pritler and Cruella

I was going to say, well, good luck with that, and then I remembered I was posting on BRIFF. He's a shoo-in. Luckily this forum is not his electorate. Hope the door does whack him up the arse on the way out, though expect he’d enjoy that

Say he wishes to be free of the constraints of the way politics are run and is glad to be out of the C party, well he didn't have to wait to be pushed ,he could so easily left of his own accord to express his own views, unless he was on a retainer @££?

Well he has got his wish and hopefully the electorate of North West Leicestershire will free him from any constraints associated with representing them

Matt Hancock MP Mr Henry Smith MP Mr Scott Benton MP - two matters Rt Hon Mr Rishi Sunak MP Rt Hon Mr David Mundell MP Ms Jess Phillips MP - the only Labour MP - for declaring an interest outside the 28 day window, a technicality. She did declare an interest unlike a certain Mr Sunak.....

It was their fault anyway and they should just accept that superior people like them can do whatever the hell they like. If not the snowflakes then brown skinned immigrants must be to blame

And another one bites the dust...BBC chairman Richard Sharp resigns after Boris Johnson loan rowichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/9E2C/production/_129429404_291be8e3fd4f10904491955ce1479c28c39dca031028_2330_5568_31342000x1125.jpgRichard Sharp has announced his resignation as chairman of the BBC after a report found he breached the code on public appointments. In a statement given before the publication of the report, Sharp said Adam Heppinstall KC, who led the inquiry, had concluded “that while I did breach the governance code for public appointments, he states that a breach does not necessarily invalidate an appointment". Sharp continued: "Indeed, I have always maintained the breach was inadvertent and not material, which the facts he lays out substantiate." Nevertheless, Sharp said he was resigning to “prioritise the interests of the BBC”. He said he would remain in post until the end of June while the process to appoint his successor took place. The report by the Commissioner for Public Appointments has also just been published. We’re going through that now and will bring you more from the report and Sharp’s statement. SHARP REPORT IN FULLpublicappointmentscommissioner.independent.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2023-04-28-OCPA-DECISION-NOTICE-IN-RELATION-TO-THE-APPOINTMENT-OF-CHAIR-OF-THE-BBC-BOARD-MR-RICHARD-SHARP.pdf....................................................................................................................................................................... Rishi Sunak says he cannot 'prejudge' appointments processPrime Minister Rishi Sunak has just been asked about Richard Sharp's resignation as chairman of the BBC. Speaking to the media at the Scottish Conservative conference in Glasgow, Sunak said he had not seen the report into Sharp, who was a mentor of the PM when he worked as a junior banker at Goldman Sachs. Asked about whether he could guarantee a non-political figure would replace Sharp, Sunak said: "There's an appointments process that happens for those appointments. I'm not going to prejudge that." ....................................................................................................................................................................... BBC chair should not be appointed by government, Lineker says.ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/28/48a33a7e-c13a-49b4-8869-df05d2e9e5c5.jpgMatch of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has weighed in on Richard Sharp's resignation, calling for the BBC chairman's appointment to be entirely independent of politics. Writing on Twitter, he says: "The BBC chairman should not be selected by the government of the day. Not now, not ever." Lineker was involved in his own BBC impartiality storm in March, after he was taken off air for tweeting a statement criticising the government's asylum plans. At the time, critics of the BBC's handling of the row contrasted how Sharp was allowed to stay on as chairman while an investigation was taking place, while the football presenter was suspended in a very public manner. The BBC was accused of "caving in" to pressure from the government by opposition parties, after Downing Street and numerous senior ministers weighed in to criticise Lineker.

The report's key findings at a glance We've been combing through the report into Richard Sharp's conduct in the run up to his appointment as BBC chairman. Here are the key take-aways from the report:
The bottom line: Sharp breached the rules of public appointments twice
The breaches relate to his failure to disclose information to the appointments panel for the role of BBC chairman concerning his relationship with the then-PM Boris Johnson
The first breach: Sharp informed Johnson he wished to apply for the role before he made his application
The second breach: Sharp assisted Johnson with a "private financial matter" in a "very limited extent" by introducing millionaire Sam Blyth to the head of the civil service, Simon Case
The two breaches were found to have created "a risk of perception that Sharp would not be independent from the former prime minister, if appointed"
The report also found there was "a risk that members of the public might form the view that Sharp was informing the prime minister of his application because he wanted him to make a recommendation to appoint him"
The report does not make a finding on whether Sharp actually had any intention of seeking to influence Johnson
For Sharp's part, he does not believe the first breach constituted a breaking of the rules because he believed talking to Johnson at the time was like having a conversation with his current "boss" - he was a special economics adviser to the Treasury at the time.

Lineker is absolutely right. If the BBC truly value impartiality then all senior appointments should be managed independently and not by the Government, and those applying should have no previous political history with any political party. They can do what the hell they like after they've finished with the BBC. This would put them on a par with Civil Servants. Tim Davie and Robbie Gibb should resign as they are not impartial.

The BBC will have another Conservative Boss, but one that does'nt break the rules.
The top man/woman apparently has nothing to do with what programmes go out.
Hopefully any political bias can be stopped,we deserve a neutral BBC.

Hopefully any political bias can be stopped,we deserve a neutral BBC. Preferably one that deals in facts rather than soundbites. And maybe one day they will get a Government minister to answer a question with facts.... but I won't hold my breath waiting!
