Paedophile pop star Gary Glitter freed from prison.. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/A08D/production/_128510114_9b2b04c2c5d5a17a710a9dcc193bc586d4b6cc120_2_2704_15211000x563.jpgDisgraced former pop star Gary Glitter has been freed from prison after serving half his 16-year jail term. Glitter, 78, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was sentenced in 2015 for attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13. At the time, the judge said it was clear his victims "were all profoundly affected" by the abuse. Glitter was one of the biggest music stars of the 1970s. Gadd had been at the height of his fame when he attacked two girls aged 12 and 13 after inviting them backstage to his dressing room. His youngest victim had been less than 10 years old when he crept into her bed and tried to rape her in 1975. During sentencing, Judge Alistair McCreath said he could find "no real evidence that" Gadd had atoned for his crimes. He described Gadd's abuse of a girl under 10 as "appalling" and said: "It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behaviour." "You did all of them real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind," Judge McCreath said. Gadd had denied allegations against him but was found guilty after a trial lasting three weeks. He had been held at HMP The Verne - a low security category C jail in Portland, Dorset - and was automatically freed halfway through his term. As a sex offender, he will now be subject to licence conditions. The allegations against Gadd only came to light years later when he became the first person to be arrested under Operation Yewtree - the investigation launched by the Met in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal. Det Ch Insp Michael Orchard, from Operation Yewtree, said Gadd was a "habitual sexual predator who took advantage of the star status afforded to him". Gadd, performing as Gary Glitter, was one of the UK's biggest glam rock stars of the 1970s, with three UK number ones, including I'm the Leader of the Gang (I am!). His fall from grace occurred decades later, after he admitted possessing thousands of child pornography images and was jailed for four months in 1999. Upon being freed he went abroad, and in 2002 was expelled from Cambodia amid reports of sex crime allegations. In March 2006 he was convicted of sexually abusing two young girls in neighbouring Vietnam and spent two-and-a-half years in jail. Glitter, who stood accused of kissing, fondling and engaging in other sexual acts with the girls, evaded more serious charges of child rape, which carried a maximum penalty of death by firing squad. On his return to the UK in 2008, the former pop star was ordered to sign the sex offenders register. In 2012, he was arrested at his London home following an investigation by detectives from Operation Yewtree, which was set up after the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal, before the case that led to his latest conviction came to trial in January 2015.

Child abuser Andrew Hadwin dies in HMP Durham awaiting sentence..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/C5D1/production/_128514605_mediaitem128514604.jpgA child abuser who fed his victims soap and forced them into boiling showers has died in prison while awaiting sentence. Andrew Hadwin, 39, and his partner Cheryl Pickles, 35, both of Bowburn, County Durham, were found guilty of child neglect in January. Hadwin, who was also convicted of raping a child, died at HMP Durham on Thursday, The Ministry of Justice said. He and Pickles were due to be sentenced on 28 April. The couple neglected the children for years and would limit their food while forcing them watch as the adults enjoyed takeaways. One child was left with life-limiting injuries following the abuse, which included being locked in a cupboard. The children were also made to stand in stress positions for long periods of time and medical experts told the couple's trial that the children regularly suffered painful injuries. The pair also wrote letters claiming to be from the children in which they apologised for making false allegations. A handwriting expert confirmed they were not written by the children, and had actually been written in a notebook found at the couple's home. Hadwin was found guilty of seven counts of child neglect and one of perverting the course of justice. He was also found guilty of rape in relation to non-recent abuse of another child. He was found not guilty of sexual activity with a child. Pickles was found guilty of five counts of child cruelty and one of perverting the course of justice. She was found not guilty of sexual activity with a child. A Prison Service spokesperson said the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman would investigate Hadwin's death. Acting prisons and probation ombudsman Kimberley Bingham confirmed an investigation was under way but added: "We are unable to provide further comment as this is a live investigation and we do not want to prejudice the inquest." Durham Police said they were alerted to the death on Thursday afternoon and inquiries were being made with a file to be prepared for the coroner "in due course".

Disgraced former pop star Gary Glitter has been recalled to prison after breaching his licence conditions, the Probation Service has said. The singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was freed in February after serving half his 16-year jail term for sexually abusing three schoolgirls. His recall comes just over a month since being freed. Upon release, he was subject to licence conditions including having a GPS tag. The pop star, 79, was one of the biggest music stars of the 1970s. He was jailed in 2015 for attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13. A Probation Service spokesperson said protecting the public was their "number one priority", adding: "That's why we set tough licence conditions and when offenders breach them, we don't hesitate to return them to custody." Glitter had been held at HMP The Verne, a low security category C jail in Portland, Dorset. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64946392

Timothy Schofield found guilty of sexually abusing boy..By Jonathan Holmesichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/DDF0/production/_129261865_705b85a8-255b-4ae1-a335-a4cff4cb693b.jpgThe brother of television presenter Phillip Schofield has been found guilty of sexually abusing a boy. Timothy Schofield, 54, from Bath denied 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019. Schofield, who was a civilian worker for Avon and Somerset Police at the time of the offences, was found guilty of all charges. Phillip Schofield said after the verdict: "As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother." The jury at Exeter Crown Court found him guilty with a majority of 10-2 after more than five-and-a-half hours' deliberating. In a statement released by his lawyer, Phillip Schofield said his brother had committed a "despicable" crime. "My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected." During the trial, Timothy Schofield denied performing sexual acts on the boy but admitted he had watched pornography with the teenager. The jury previously heard how he had confessed to his TV star brother in September 2021 about watching pornography with the teenager on one occasion, claiming it had happened after the boy was 16, the age of consent. The This Morning presenter's statement continued: "If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family," adding that he welcomed the guilty verdicts. Robin Shellard, prosecuting, told the court the boy's evidence showed the abuse in fact began when he was aged 13. Timothy Schofield has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on 19th May. Police employment concernHis employer, Avon & Somerset Police, said it would now start misconduct proceedings against him. Schofield was suspended from duty in December 2021 when the criminal proceedings started. Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Keith Smith said: "[Schofield] has exploited and abused the victim by carrying out a sickening series of offences over a significant period of time. "The impact on the victim has been immense and they've shown incredible bravery in disclosing the crimes committed against them, and by supporting the subsequent police investigation throughout." He added: "Although the defendant does not work in a public-facing role, and the offences are not linked to his employment, we know the fact he works for the police will be a matter of public concern. "Until these criminal allegations were reported in December 2021, there were no previous allegations or complaints made to the police against this defendant. "Once reported, officers carried out a thorough investigation, building a file of evidence and speaking to a number of witnesses, resulting in the defendant being charged and subsequently convicted of serious offences. "Misconduct proceedings can now recommence at pace." The boy told the jury he felt "emotionally blackmailed" by Timothy Schofield and "forced" to participate in sexual activity. He said: "I felt that emotionally there was no escape from what we had to do and I felt that there was a tremendous amount of pressure and expectation for me to fulfil what was being asked and wanted."

Jimmy Savile: The Reckoning actor Steve Coogan praised but critics say drama adds little..By Paul Glynn, Entertainment reporter.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/240/cpsprodpb/095D/production/_131379320_446050.jpgSteve Coogan has been praised for his portrayal of Jimmy Savile, after the first episode of BBC drama The Reckoning was shown on TV on Monday. The series depicts the life of the notorious presenter who was revealed to be a paedophile and sex offender. Best known for playing Alan Partridge, Coogan's performance was described by the Guardian as "chillingly brilliant". "But this is a horrific tale most of us already know - and the BBC's depressing drama adds little of value," it said. The TV personality and DJ, who died in 2011 at the age of 84, used his celebrity status to prey on hundreds of people, male and female, many of them minors. Disgraced singer Gary Glitter refused jail release..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/24/23/80316111-13003479-Gary_Glitter_79_was_jailed_in_2015_for_sexually_abusing_three_sc-a-92_1706140594110.jpgConvicted sex offender Gary Glitter will remain behind bars after losing a Parole Board bid. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980. The 79-year-old was automatically released in February last year but was put back behind bars six weeks later after breaching his licence conditions. A panel said Gadd continued to show a "lack of victim empathy". The summary of the Parole Board panel's decision said: "It found on the evidence that at the time of the offending, and while he was on licence, Mr Gadd had a sexual interest in underage girls." It said Gadd had not taken part in any programmes in prison to address his offending and continues to deny having a sexual interest in children. The decision published by the Parole Board on Wednesday continued: "After considering the circumstances of his offending, the lack of progress made while in custody and on licence, and the other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was not satisfied that release at this point would be safe for the protection of the public. "Rather, the panel considered that Mr Gadd was appropriately located in custody where outstanding levels of risk could be addressed." The hearing last month took place in secret after a request for proceedings to be heard in public was rejected. Lawyer Richard Scorer, who represents one of Gadd's victims, told the Press Association news agency: "This is the right decision and in our view the only decision that the parole board could have made. "Everything we know about Gadd/Glitter indicates that he remains a risk to children and has never shown any remorse." Gadd was first jailed in the late 1990s for possessing thousands of child abuse images. After being freed for the first time, he moved abroad but was expelled from Cambodia in 2002 amid reports of sex crime allegations. In March 2006, he was convicted of abusing two girls, aged 10 and 11, in Vietnam and was jailed for two-and-a-half years.

These ****s never seem to change,he is a danger to children, give him a choice either prison for the rest of his life or a cyanide capsule. With all the ways to kill the people on death row being heavily scruitinised recently on tv what is the best method..? Many States do not do hanging, the electric chair and have had many issues with lethal injection.. Of course these days the murderers have rights and to die humanely and with dignity.. Would a cyanide or any other capsule / pill be able to work in order to please all the rules that exist today..?

Would a cyanide or any other capsule / pill be able to work in order to please all the rules that exist today..? That there is a desire to kill another human being as a form of retribution is disgusting in itself. This is not justice, it's revenge. Personally, I don't care how vile that person criminal is, to kill is to kill. However, if the victim was a loved one I would take revenge, probably violently. That would be wrong, but I probably would. But that is not what you people are talking about, you are openly discussing taking the life of another human being because of something that does not involve you personally, in a form of some sick voyeurism. The funny thing is, the way you write, I would wager you are a wet lettuce leaf who couldn't punch your way out of a paper bag. And you talk of taking the life of another....don't make me laugh.

Would a cyanide or any other capsule / pill be able to work in order to please all the rules that exist today..? Cyanide wouldnt be a painless death,I was suggesting that it could be on offer to people who want to take it as an alternative to life imprisonment, would be best to video them asking for cyanide so that there could be no claim afterwards that they were coerced into it....taxpayer would save money,a prison space freed up,no chance of the prisoner escaping and reoffending = win, win, win. On capitol punishment i heard a mother of a murder victim in USA who watched the murderer executed by lethal injection saying that the murderer didnt suffer enough, they just go to sleep,if you have ever seen a dog put down thats exactly what happens,no pain they just go to sleep. I think that hanging is the best option, but public execution, imagine College green on a saturday morning twice a year, would be rammed, and if only one or two little scrotes watched it and thought "**** that I think I will change my evil ways" its a worthwhile deterrent. Over the years I have heard the death sentence subject come up in conversations a few times, always the majority agree it should be brought back on the very odd occasion that someones argued against it they have come across as the biggest wrong un in the room....

Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile review – a most sickening nostalgia trip..by Lucy Mangan.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/24/00/84010949-13342879-image-a-33_1713915890993.jpgDo you remember – it feels so long ago now – the days when it was a shock to find out that a rich, famous, charismatic man had been using his riches, fame and charisma to rape and abuse women and children and cover it up for years and years? Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile is the bleakest of nostalgia trips, taking us back to those quaint times, before the public Jimmy Savile revelations, before the R Kelly revelations, before the Rolf Harris revelations, before Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein … I could, unfortunately, go on but I think the point is made. This 90-minute film on ITV last night (23.4.24) tells the story of a monster hiding in plain sight for all to see. We see the fame, this time via plenty of Top of the Pops footage of the glam-rock star Gary Glitter – real name, the name under which he would eventually be prosecuted, Paul Gadd – the high-energy interviews on the likes of Saturday Scene with Sally James, the more stately stuff with Terry Wogan and other chatshow presenters, and even an episode of This Is Your Life that was devoted to him. And, as with most of the documentaries about British celebrity paedophiles and/or abusers, there is a stomach-churning interview with Savile himself from what looks like the late 1980s, by which time they were both well practised in their depravities and giving new meaning to the phrase “hiding in plain sight”. See also Glitter’s 1980 hit What Your Mama Don’t See (Your Mama Don’t Know) replete with lines like “You insist you’re not to be kissed / ’Cause your mama’s not far away … One more glance, I might take a chance / I’m a desperate kind of man.” We hear, mainly via the prosecuting counsels, from and about the women who would eventually see him convicted of various sex offences. Woman A suffered an attempted rape by 31-year-old Glitter/Gadd in 1975 when she was eight years old. Two other girls, around the age of 12, were raped by him after concerts, their mamas ushered elsewhere by members of the star’s entourage. There is an incident recounted by music journalist Garry Johnson about two men who were hired to work security for a Glitter gig around 1990 who discovered in one of the boxes they were carrying from his van huge numbers of Polaroid photos of children. They confronted him. He cried and offered them money. They refused it and walked off the job, setting fire to his wig on the way. The bathos of the last act should not obscure the fact that this seems to have been the closest his victims got to justice for the next 25 years. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/24/00/84010599-13342879-image-a-3_1713915189790.jpgThe film assembles its evidence meticulously, relentlessly and unsensationally, including not just the facts that would end up in court but moments that tell us almost more than the lawyers can. There is the fleeting look of absolute terror in Glitter’s eyes when Paula Yates interviews him on the infamous On the Bed segment of The Big Breakfast and asks of his girlfriends: “Are they very young?” Glitter’s relief when she appears to mean women in their early 20s is palpable. Despite a 1993 story in the News of the World about him having sex with a 14-year-old (attention focused on the photo she had of him without his wig, completely bald) and the rumours that had been swirling for years, it wasn’t until child sexual abuse images were found on a laptop he took in for repair in 1997 that any charges were filed against him. Woman A added her complaint to the charge sheet but the judge reckoned too much time had passed and dropped her case. Woman B, from the News of the World story, was destroyed on cross-examination, and by the judge’s recommendation that the jury should bear in mind that there are 14-year-olds “who look like girls” and 14-year-olds who “look like sophisticated ladies” and consider which category woman B fell into. Gadd was cleared of offences against her, but the public gallery reeled in shock when he pleaded guilty to all the child abuse image charges. The film slightly rushes the years he then spent in south-east Asia, free to exploit vulnerable children in poorer countries, and the legal systems that effectively function as an international ring of enablers for paedophiles and other abusers. But it does its job in reilluminating the horrors of the past, which are also the horrors of the present and no doubt the horrors of the future too. We have a little more knowledge, a little more awareness, a little more wisdom. Perhaps we are a little more protective. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/24/00/80316115-13342879-Glitter_spent_two_and_a_half_years_in_prisons_in_Vietnam_after_h-a-14_1713915473686.jpg

The film assembles its evidence meticulously, relentlessly and unsensationally, including not just the facts that would end up in court but moments that tell us almost more than the lawyers can. Top of the pops was like a paedo meeting place,Saville,Glitter ,Jonathan King and the BBC shipping youngsters into the studio for their entertainment. The BBC really seems to be a place for paedos and assorted weirdos to gather,I notice that Huw Edwards resigned yesterday.....mental health issues..... Also ITV have had this guy too from 2012, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_TalbotAnd Philip Schofield, to name but 2...
