Another shock was that huw Edwards was on £430,000 a tear ! The amazing thing is that he was allowed to resign ! He should have been sacked a year ago ! I agree,I wonder why he wasn't sacked ? maybe the people in higher positions don't want to be scrutinised themselves.

Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction overturned by New York court..By Graeme Baker, BBC News, Washington.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article29307987.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_Sexual-Misconduct-Weinstein-New-York-USA-17-Jan-2020.jpgHollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction has been overturned by New York's top court, on the basis that he did not receive a fair trial. The Court of Appeals found that prosecutors were allowed to call witnesses whose accusations were not part of the charges against him. Its ruling said that meant he was tried on past behaviour and not solely on the crimes he was charged with. Weinstein, 72, will remain in prison for a separate conviction for rape. The court reached a 4-3 ruling on Thursday, stating that the trial "erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes." The decision also said the trial judge compounded the error by letting Weinstein be cross-examined in a way that portrayed him in a "highly prejudicial" light. "The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial." One of the dissenting judges however said that with the decision, "this Court continues to thwart the steady gains survivors of sexual violence have fought for in our criminal justice system". i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article31508383.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/2_Jury-Deliberations-Continue-In-Harvey-Weinstein-Rape-And-Assault-Trial.jpgAccusations against Weinstein began in 2017 and sparked the #MeToo movement, which exposed sexual abuse at the highest levels of the Hollywood film industry and beyond. He faced two trials: in New York, where he was jailed for 23 years in 2020 for raping two women; and in California, where he was last year sentenced to 16 years for raping a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel. The California conviction is not affected by the decision in New York. Weinstein currently remains in prison at Mohawk Correctional Facility in New York state. He was previously extradited to LA to stand trial. It will now be up to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose predecessor Cyrus Vance brought the case, to decide whether to retry Weinstein. Bragg's office is separately in the midst of a criminal hush-money trial against former president Donald Trump. Weinstein's lawyer, Arthur Aidala, told the New York Times that the decision was a victory for both his client and "for every criminal defendant in the state of New York", and commended the appeals court for "upholding the most basic principles that a criminal defendant should have in a trial". He added that his client had not immediately been informed of the ruling. Douglas Wigdor, a lawyer who represented eight of Weinstein's accusers, said the decision was "a major step back in holding those accountable for acts of sexual violence". "It will require the victims to endure yet another trial." Weinstein co-founded the Miramax film studio, whose hits included Shakespeare in Love, which won best picture at the Academy Awards, and Pulp Fiction. His own eponymous film studio filed for bankruptcy in March 2018.

Gary Glitter told to pay victim £508,000 damages..by Rory Tingle, Home Affairs Correspondent.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/11/10/81427989-13517067-Paedophile_pop_star_Gary_Glitter_has_lost_a_legal_bid_to_stop_on-a-1_1718097894950.jpgConvicted sex offender Gary Glitter has been ordered to pay at least £508,000 to a victim he abused when she was 12 years old. A High Court judge ruled that Glitter - whose real name is Paul Gadd - subjected the claimant "to sexual abuse of the most serious kind". The woman brought her claim after Glitter was convicted in 2015 of abusing her and two other young people between 1975 and 1980. The disgraced pop star was jailed for 16 years and released in February last year after serving half his sentence. He was returned to prison six weeks later after it was found he had breached his licence conditions which included measures to prevent him accessing images of child abuse. In a 13-page ruling released on Tuesday, High Court judge Mrs Justice Tipples said the woman was entitled to damages of £508,800 - but there will be a further decision on adding interest to that sum. Gadd may also have to pay his victim's legal costs. "There is no doubt that the claimant was subject to sexual abuse of the most serious kind by the defendant when she was only 12 years old and that has had very significant adverse impact on the rest of her life," Judge Tipples said. The sum Glitter has been ordered to pay includes £381,000 in lost earnings and £7,800 for future therapy and treatment. The court was told that as a result of Glitter's abuse the woman who brought the claim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been unable to work for decades. Her barrister Jonathan Metzer said her experiences had a "dramatic and terrible impact" on her education, work and personal relationships.

I am sure that most of us find the idea of a grown man having sex with a 12 year old disgusting....compared to what the prophet did to poor Aisha ,Glitter is quite restrained !... Paedophiles should be executed to protect the young, lots of the victims lives are totally blighted, they never really recover.

Kevin Spacey says he was 'too handsy’ in the past..Ian Aikman, BBC News.
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/11/19/85986839-13518761-image-a-38_1718129691706.jpg Kevin Spacey has admitted to being 'handsy' and 'pushing boundaries' despite being cleared of sexually assaulting four men last yearActor Kevin Spacey has described himself as "being too handsy" in the past, in a new interview. Speaking with Piers Morgan, the 64-year-old admitted to "pushing the boundaries" in reference to allegations of inappropriate behaviour that brought his career to a halt in 2017. Last year, the actor was found not guilty of all charges of sexual assault against four men between 2001 and 2013 after a trial in London, and in 2022 a US court dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit against him. Spacey is currently involved in a civil trial over an allegation, which he denies, that he sexually assaulted a man in 2008. The interview, broadcast on the Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube channel, featured a direct discussion of how Mr Spacey views his past actions. When asked to clarify what he meant by "pushing the boundaries", the double Oscar winner said: "Being too handsy, touching someone sexually in a way that I didn't know at the time they didn't want." Pressed on the potential for this being criminal conduct, Mr Spacey said he has "been gentle with people" and he would not use the word "grope" to describe his actions. "You want to be gentle. You want to see if they're going to respond positively," he added. Mr Morgan asked him: “Would you say all of that was consensual or was it an attempt at seduction, that if it was repelled, by definition becomes I guess non-consensual, that if you're being handsy, if you're groping people, and they don't want to do it …” To which Mr Spacey replied: “… then they should let you know they don't want to do it so that you can understand it's non-consensual and stop.” In May, Mr Spacey denied fresh allegations against him which aired in the Channel 4 documentary Spacey Unmasked. Actors Ruari Cannon and Danny De Lillo both alleged inappropriate behaviour by Mr Spacey in the documentary. Mr Cannon alleged that Mr Spacey touched him inappropriately in public at a press night for an Old Vic theatre production in 2013. Mr Spacey said the allegation was "ridiculous and it never happened". Mr De Lillo alleged the actor thrust his groin towards his face while he was seated at a production at the same theatre. Mr Spacey said he found the accusation "completely offensive". i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/06/11/18/85984195-13518761-image-m-25_1718125501812.jpgSpeaking to Piers Morgan the double Oscar winner said he is now on the brink of bankruptcy due to his million-dollar legal fees and has been forced to sell his homeAfter the documentary was broadcast, a group of Hollywood stars including Sharon Stone, Stephen Fry and Liam Neeson called for Mr Spacey to be allowed to return to acting. Speaking to the Telegraph, Ms Stone said: "I can't wait to see Kevin back at work. He is a genius." Mr Spacey won the Oscar for best actor for American Beauty in 2000, and for best supporting actor for The Usual Suspects in 1995. He was also the artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre in London between 2004 and 2015. In a statement, the Old Vic said it had conducted an investigation in 2017 into alleged inappropriate conduct by Mr Spacey at the theatre between 2005 and 2013. It said there were "no findings of fact" regarding the actor's alleged misconduct, and no evidence of formal complaints against him. Mr Spacey was sacked while filming the Netflix series House of Cards after the first allegations against him emerged in 2017. His scenes from the then-upcoming Ridley Scott film All the Money in the World were erased and reshot with Canadian actor Christopher Plummer replacing him.

I agree, if it was my daughter I would do time...not questions asked. People like him should have all human rights taken away from him, just like rapists, murders and career criminals. Reblitation does not work,so instead of using animals for clinical tests, why not these filth...?

But you won't bend on the point I am making that the Qur'an is written as I guidance and is not overly prescriptive. Plus it was mostly written in the 7th century. You cannot compare societal norms if that period with now. In Shakespeare England girls were married of at 13. Nearly 900 years after Qur'an was drafted.

Islam must have a reformation, a clear set of rules of good and not good.Details. Until such time it remains a dangerous book. Stop Muslim immigration until the reformation is complete and acceptable to British values. Matters not how many years this takes. Instant deportation for those that want to follow the 'old Quaran'. "When in Rome".Basic commonsense, good manners and a national security must.

I understand that it was written many years ago and society was different then to now, but people live by,are willing to die for and will kill for what's written in that book in today's society, and we non believers are just meant to accept this book as a persons faith. You pointed out that societal norms are different now compared to then, so how is this book and it's Sharia laws meant to fit in here in western culture? Answer, it doesn't and can't. Not because us people like myself and even you won't accept it here, but they don't accept us and our way of life. I want mass immigration to stop based on this, and nothing to do with colour.

I was at the vets yesterday for the puppy's 2nd lot of jabs,in the 2 weeks since the first visit i registered his chip, the Vet checked with the reader and it came straight up with my details... Got me thinking that criminals could be chipped (they already have DNA taken) when released from prison paedos could be banned from going within a mile of schools, parks etc...if schools and parks had a warning system a paedo with a chip in the vicinity could set off a siren and flashing lights....shoplifters could be chipped so that shopkeepers could ban them from their shops. The technology is there it just needs a government who want to protect the law abiding rather than worry about the 'human rights' of the criminals.

Neil Foden: Headteacher convicted of sexually abusing 4 girls including one he called his 'little sex toy' jailed for 17 years..by Elizabeth Haigh.
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/05/15/16/84910791-13421863-image-a-1_1715785756481.jpg Neil Foden, 66, who worked at a school in North Wales, was convicted at Mold Crown Court of 19 offences
Judge Rhys Rowlands said 'Some of the explanations for your behaviour towards the victims proffered by you during the course of the trial at times frankly beggared belief.' He said the fact Foden put forward the explanations was borne out of his 'arrogant controlling personality as an individual who is used to getting your own way'. He added: 'You were a powerful figure, you thought you could just do as you liked.' The court was shown a video of the defendant holding the hand of one of the girls, child A, as she sat in the back of his car, while he was in the driver's seat. Foden, who was previously an executive member for the National Education Union, was arrested after child A showed an adult a photo of them together and screenshots of messages about oral sex. She told police: 'He would say he loved me. After a while it got a bit more sexual. After we kissed a few days later he put his hands down my pants, so the text messages would be like, what he wanted to do to me.' The court heard he would pick her up in his car and drive them to secluded areas. Another complainant, child E, told police she referred to Foden as Mr P, for perfect, while he called her 'his little sex toy'. She also described meeting the defendant in his BMW car, which had personalised number plates, and driving to remote laybys and country lanes 'for him to have a play with me'. After Foden was arrested, police later found a pair of purple and black lace handcuffs in the boot of his car which had DNA present matching Foden and the youngster. Foden was accused of pinching the thigh of child B and putting his hand under her clothing. Child C alleged he had placed his hand at the top of her inner thighs. Foden denied all of the offences and said he was not an 'abusive adult'. He told the jury he was not able to have sex because of erectile dysfunction caused by a medical condition. Asked about a message he sent to child A in which he said he felt 'slightly horny', he said: 'The sad reality is Mr Foden couldn't feel slightly horny if he wanted to.' He said the message was meant to be 'complimentary' and make the girl 'feel attractive'. The court heard concerns about Foden were raised with Gwynedd Council at an earlier stage. Judge Rowlands said: 'When real concerns were first raised about the defendant with the county council they were simply dismissed, pretty much out of hand.' He said no investigation was carried out and no notes were taken. He added: 'We now know he continued to offend. That's very concerning indeed.' Foden, of Old Colwyn, North Wales, was convicted of 12 counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual activity with a child in a position of trust, and one count each of causing or inciting child sexual activity, attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence, sexual communication with a child, possession of indecent photographs of a child and sexual assault of a child.

Priest thought to pose risk to children is paid off..by Aleem Maqbool, religion editor & Steve Swann, BBC File on 4.www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/resources/images/11319597.jpg?type=mds-article-962The Church of England made a six-figure pay-off to a priest assessed as a potential risk to children and young people, a BBC investigation has found. Canon Andrew Hindley - who worked in Blackburn diocese from 1991 to 2021 - was subject to five police investigations, including into allegations of sexual assault. He has never been charged with any criminal offences and says he has never presented any safeguarding risk to anyone. A senior member of staff at Blackburn Cathedral resigned over the settlement and says concerns about the priest were “an open secret” among senior clergy. The former Bishop of Blackburn Julian Henderson described the financial settlement when he was in post as the “only option” left for the Church “to protect children and vulnerable young people from the risk Canon Hindley posed”. The archbishops of Canterbury and York have told the BBC they are “still working” to get Church processes right and “must learn” from past mistakes. Despite many people we approached being unwilling to talk, our two-year investigation also found: Restrictions on Canon Hindley, banning him from choir school and school visits, were never monitored The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, backed a plan to close Blackburn Cathedral if the priest returned to work from suspension Three Lancashire bishops complained “strings have been pulled and networks have been used to effect Canon Hindley’s ongoing ministry” There were previous attempts to pay the priest to leave, dating back more than 15 years In 2022, Canon Hindley was offered £240,000, the BBC understands. We do not know the final amount paid because the parties signed non-disclosure agreements keeping it secret. The Church of England said it was settling legal action brought by the priest in response to an earlier Church decision to force him to retire. But the BBC has seen evidence the Church tried several times over the years to pay off Canon Hindley. It was the “tipping point” for Rowena Pailing, who quit as the cathedral’s vice-dean and head of safeguarding, ending a nearly 20-year career with the Church of England. “I couldn't work for an organisation which put its own reputation and the protection of alleged abusers above the protection and care and listening to victims and survivors,” she tells the BBC, speaking publicly for the first time about the case. The message the payment sends to victims and survivors is “absolutely horrific… I was devastated”. i2-prod.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/incoming/article18179619.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS172894292.jpg

After five Police investigations they couldn't find any proof to convict him, so what were they to do? By the way I am an Athiest so in no way am a church supporter and I am well aware of abuse in all religions by so-called "men of the cloth". In this day and age you cannot just sack someone without a valid reason as they'll just take you to court. Yes, this does stink, but what else could the church (as an employer) do?

However the point that hit me though was the comment - Restrictions on Canon Hindley, banning him from choir school and school visits, were never monitoredPeople like this individual hate scrutiny and I would have had someone monitoring him all the time, and ensured that restrictions were enforced. If necessary going over the top. The cost of monitoring would be less than a pay off and more likely to the individual to leave. Also certainly less than the cost of trauma to his victims. It's pointless whinging if you aren't doing the best you can. Finally it is worrying and would be interesting to know why the police investigations failed, if there was concern. Perhaps there are other organisations, religious and secular, where this is happening and nothing seems to be found when there is concern....

BREAKING NEWS: Indecent assault charges against shamed US film mogul Harvey Weinstein are Dropped as CPS rules 'no realistic prospect of conviction'..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/05/12/89310165-13816519-image-a-15_1725534626175.jpgIndecent assault charges in the UK against disgraced former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein have been discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS said it had made the decision after reviewing the evidence in the case and concluding "there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction". Weinstein was charged in 2022 with two counts of indecent assault against a woman in London for alleged offences from the summer of 1996. The alleged victim is a woman who is now in her 50s, the Metropolitan Police said at the time. Frank Ferguson, head of the Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said the CPS had a duty to continuously review criminal cases and had "explained our decision to all parties". “We would always encourage any potential victims of sexual assault to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.”

Harvey Weinstein has emergency heart surgery..by Max Matza, BBC Newsi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/09/20/89460771-13831079-image-m-32_1725910767184.jpgDisgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein is in hospital in New York for emergency heart surgery, his lawyers have told BBC News. Lawyers for Weinstein said he was taken on Sunday evening from the Rikers Island jail to Bellevue hospital. They did not provide further details. His lawyers say he has been suffering from multiple health conditions, and has been experiencing chest pains. Weinstein, 72, was convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020 in New York, and jailed for 23 years. Those convictions were overturned this April when an appeal judge ruled he did not receive a fair trial. He faces a possible retrial later this year. Weinstein was convicted of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping Jessica Mann, a former aspiring actress, in 2013. In his appeal, however, the court said prosecutors in the pivotal #MeToo case called witnesses whose accusations were not part of the charges against him. Weinstein for has also been sentenced to 16 years in prison in a separate rape trial in California, against which he is appealing. Weinstein has struggled with serious health problems, and has been admitted to hospital multiple times in recent years. In July, he was treated for Covid-19 and double pneumonia. In 2020, he was admitted to hospital with chest pains. He also was taken to Bellevue hospital that same year to open a blocked artery, according to CBS. He also has diabetes and high blood pressure. More than 100 people have made rape and misconduct allegations about Weinstein dating back to the late 1970s. The decision by his accusers to come forward, and his subsequent conviction in New York, galvanised the #MeToo movement against sexual abuse by powerful men. Weinstein has always maintained his innocence and argued he was the victim of a "set-up". i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/09/20/84668003-13831079-Weinstein_remains_in_prison_as_he_was_found_guilty_of_the_rape_a-m-11_1725909693798.jpg

7 Pakistani Muslim sex offenders have today recieved hefty sentences.Part of the Rotherham scandal. As one of the men was being sentenced ( he raped an 11 year old girl,no doubt amongst others ),a young boy from the public gallery shouted "I love you dad".A cultural crime is'nt it.
It'll be covered in the media.
