Marc Skinner: Manchester United boss says players and coaches must 'call out misbehaviour' after NWSL report.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/16356/production/_127066909_marcskinner_getty.jpgManchester United boss Marc Skinner says coaches and players must continue to "call out misbehaviour" following an investigation into abuse in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). The investigation, published earlier this month, found abuse "had become systemic" in the United States' NWSL. Skinner, who coached Orlando Pride before taking over at United in 2021, called the report a "tough read". "We need to show support and solidarity at this moment," Skinner said. "We have to continue to change, adapt and evolve to make sure nobody goes through this. "We cannot allow any player, any staff or anyone involved in the work place to go through this." An independent investigation was launched last year following allegations made against North Carolina Courage's English head coach Paul Riley, who was sacked. As well as examining claims against Riley, who denies the accusations, the report looks into allegations against two other coaches, American Rory Dames and Northern Irishman Christy Holly. Following a separate investigation, Orlando Pride's head coach Amanda Cromwell and assistant coach Sam Greene were sacked on Monday after "engaging in retaliatory conduct" towards players who had complained about them in a previous investigation. Skinner praised players' and coaches' "bravery" for speaking out against abuse and misconduct> "It's important coaches and players continue to call out misbehaviour," added Skinner. "That's how we can continue to evolve this conversation and not just see it as a moment in time. "Anybody involved in the responsibility of a vulnerable adult or children coming into the game, we have to be responsible, speak up and not allow others to go through the same thing."

Emma Hayes: Chelsea manager has emergency hysterectomy because of endometriosis.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15EBB/production/_127078798_gettyimages-1430372161.jpgChelsea boss Emma Hayes will take time away from the club as she recovers from an emergency hysterectomy. Hayes, 45, revealed she had surgery last week as part of her "ongoing battle with endometriosis". In a statement, five-time WSL winner Hayes told fans she would "need time and patience to return to full health". "I know you'll respect that my health comes first and at this time I've got to prioritise what I need to do for me," Hayes said. Assistant manager Denise Reddy will take charge of the reigning Women's Super League champions in Hayes' absence, with general manager Paul Green carrying out media duties. A club statement said: "Everybody at Chelsea would like to wish Emma a speedy recovery and we will continue to support her during this time." A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the womb which can take out areas of tissue causing endometrial pain. Hayes has publicly advocated for greater awareness of endometriosis, which affects around one in 10 women and can cause debilitating pain and heavy periods. The day before winning her first WSL title in 2015, Hayes had a procedure in hospital to remove a contraceptive coil which had been inserted to relieve the symptoms of the illness. "I can see why women go out of their minds before diagnosis - I can totally relate to that," Hayes told the Telegraph last year. "I completely appreciate the suffering but I refuse to let it get on top of me. I feel the pain but I refuse to let it take over." Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall was among those responding to the statement with messages of support for Hayes, who has become one of the most respected coaches in football and turned Chelsea into the dominant force in the English game since her appointment in 2012. "We have built a tremendous team over many years and we've adopted a very multi-disciplinary approach so that if situations like this arise, we are capable of being able to respond to the challenge," said Hayes. "We also know the team are very special and we have no doubt they'll do everything to maintain their high standards. "To our fans, you've had to listen to me bellowing from the other side of the pitch every week. But now I want to hear you even louder because I'll be sitting at home watching the team on the television until my return." Chelsea have won two of their opening three WSL games this season and visit Everton on Sunday. What is endometriosis? It is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere inside the body - often around reproductive organs, bowel and bladder Like the womb lining, tissue builds up every month then bleeds However, unlike a period there is no way for the blood to escape The build-up of trapped blood can result in internal lesions and scar tissue Some people experience no symptoms but for many others the pain can be debilitating and the condition can lead to infertility There is no known cause or cure for the condition

West Ham's Hawa Cissoko banned for five matches after Aston Villa clash..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/134C7/production/_127274097_gettyimages-1433655387.jpgHawa Cissoko was sent off after appearing to slap Sarah Mayling West Ham defender Hawa Cissoko will serve a five-match ban after her red card against Aston Villa last month. The 25-year-old lashed out at Villa's Sarah Mayling, sparking a confrontation when Cissoko left the pitch. West Ham boss Paul Konchesky was also sent off in the melee. Both clubs were charged with "failing to ensure their players and officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion" following the game, which West Ham won 2-1. Cissoko was originally given a three-match ban but the Football Association said on Wednesday she must miss an additional two matches. Both sides have also been fined £1,000. Cissoko was fined £200 while Konchesky was fined £325 and Villa backroom staff member Jack Hopkins was fined £250. Villa boss Carla Ward said she had "never seen anything like it in the game" and called the scenes at the end of the match "ugly".

Leicester City: Willie Kirk replaces Lydia Bedford as Foxes boss..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/102CA/production/_127505266_gettyimages-1338270327-1.jpgKirk was Everton boss from 2018-21 after being assistant to Casey Stoney at Manchester United in 2018 Leicester manager Lydia Bedford has stepped down as manager with director of women's football Willie Kirk taking over the Women's Super League side. Bedford and her assistant Nicola Williams both depart after the players were informed of the decision on Thursday. Leicester are bottom of the WSL table with no points from their opening six matches of the season. In a statement the Foxes said "a change in direction is necessary". The statement continues: "Lydia departs with our sincere thanks for her contribution to the ongoing establishment of LCFC Women and our very best wishes for the next steps in her career." Kirk, who was appointed as Leicester's Director of Women's and Girl's Football in July, will take on the role with immediate effect meaning he will take training from Saturday and will be in the dugout for Sunday's WSL match against Arsenal. Kirk, 44, who will be supported in his new role by first team coach Steve Kirby and technical coach Emile Heskey, previously managed Bristol City and Everton and was assistant manager at Manchester United. Bedford was appointed in November 2021 on a contract until the end of the season. When she took over Leicester were bottom of the league with no points but under Bedford the Foxes managed to avoid relegation and finish 11th to stay in the top flight. She signed a new two-year deal with Leicester in July but becomes the second WSL manager in the space of a week to lose their job after Hope Powell parted ways with Brighton on Monday. In a press conference on Thursday, Bedford said she was not feeling under pressure from above. "At the moment I feel very supported by the club in terms of being able to execute my role. "The only pressure is the one you put on yourself. As a manager you want to go out every week knowing you've put the players in the best position," she said. "I think in every game bar one this season I've walked off the pitch thinking there was not a lot more I could have done to change the result.".

Hayes, 45, had emergency surgery as part of her battle with endometriosis. The five-time Women's Super League winner was back at Kings Meadow on Sunday to witness her side's 3-1 victory over Aston Villa. "After the international break she'll be in a lot better place in terms of recovery," said Green. "Emma's doing well. It was great that she was well enough to come to Kings Meadow, she's getting better day by day but there's still no date set in stone for her to return. "We'll welcome her back as soon as the date's appropriate. She's getting better and that's the main thing." Chelsea face Manchester United on Sunday with both sides tied on 15 points at the top of the WSL table. "She'll take a decision on Sunday morning whether she's coming to the game or not," said Green. Assistant manager Denise Reddy and Green have taken charge in Hayes' absence with the former nominated for the WSL manager of the month award for October. "The nomination is testament to Denise, myself and what the coaching team have done in Emma's absence. Players have stepped up in this period to achieve points and ensure the team are in a good position when Emma returns," said Green.

Friday 11th November - Women's International Friendly.England 4 (Daly 38, Kelly 53, Toone 77, Park 90) Japan 0 ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/14899/production/_127612148_gettyimages-1440824334.jpgJess Park replaced Georgia Stanway in stoppage time before scoring with her first touch Substitute Jess Park scored 79 seconds into her England debut to round off a comfortable victory over Japan in a friendly in Spain. Manchester City forward Park, 21, who is on loan at Everton this season, came off the bench and tapped in a fourth goal for England with her first touch in stoppage time. Chloe Kelly had earlier netted her first goal since the Euro 2022 final, while Rachel Daly and Ella Toone also got on the scoresheet. England remain unbeaten under manager Sarina Wiegman, extending their run to 25 matches having conceded just once in their last five games. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/07E5/production/_127612020_gettyimages-1440819940.jpgChloe Kelly has not scored yet for Manchester City this season Tuesday 15th November - Women's International Friendly.England 1 (Daly 33) Norway 1 (Sønstevold sent off 72, Maanum (80) ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/644A/production/_127647652_gettyimages-1441733752.jpgRachel Daly played as a striker and left-back tonight. England manager Sarina Wiegman hailed her team's "incredible" 2022 after their 1-1 draw against Norway. Rachel Daly headed England ahead but Norway - reduced to 10 players - equalised through Frida Maanum after an error by goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck. This result means England, crowned European champions on home soil this summer, complete the year unbeaten. "If you had said this would have happened from last September to now I wouldn't believe you," said Wiegman. Following this friendly played in Murcia, Spain, the Lionesses have not lost in 26 games since Wiegman became head coach in September 2021. The Dutch manager told ITV4: "This week three players made their debuts, lots of players have made minutes now. We take a lot from this and the overall year. "You hope for things but this is really incredible."

Saturday 19th November..Everton 1 (Sevecke 40) Manchester City 2 (Blakstad 32, Shaw 49) Khadija Shaw is the "focal point" of the Manchester City team, said manager Gareth Taylor after the forward bagged her eighth goal of the Women's Super League campaign City's victory over Everton. Julie Blakstad opened the scoring but it was a good piece of work from Shaw, who picked up a looped ball from Leila Ouahabi as Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey came out of her goal to meet Shaw, leaving an empty net for the Jamaican to square the ball to Blakstad who slotted home. "She does so much more than score goals, the way she takes the hits as well as giving the hits out," said Taylor. "She's also very strong and she's looking a lot fitter. She's found a rhythm now in knowing she's the focal point of the team." Everton equalised from a corner when a scramble in the box saw former Toffees keeper Sandy MacIver try to punch the ball away, but it fell straight to Rikke Sevecke who powered a header into the back of the net. But Shaw was there again to tap in the rebound and restore City's lead just after half-time when Laura Coombs fired an ambitious shot which smacked off the post. This is City's fifth consecutive victory in the Women's Super League and moves them fourth, level on points with Manchester United in third. Meanwhile, the loss was Everton's third consecutive home defeat of the season and leaves them seventh in the WSL. Arsenal 2 (Maanum 46, Wienroither 73) Manchester United 3 (Toone 39, Turner 85, Russo 90+1) Manchester United produced a stunning late comeback to end Arsenal's 100% start in the Women's Super League. In front of more than 40,000 fans at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal trailed to an Ella Toone goal at half-time. They equalised when Frida Maanum's shot took a deflection off Maya Le Tissier, before Laura Wienroither looked to have earned a 15th straight league win. But headers by Millie Turner and Alessia Russo in the final five minutes completed a sensational turnaround. It ends a 14-game league winning run for Arsenal, while United showed why they could be real title contenders under boss Marc Skinner. Inspired by Toone from midfield, they secured a win which moved them level on 18 points with Arsenal and Chelsea at the top of the WSL. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/2E9A/production/_127703911_gettyimages-1442818999.jpg

Sunday 20th November..Chelsea 3 (Kerr 12, Cuthbert 26, Reiten 36 pen) Tottenham 0 Emma Hayes said it was "like being back with family" as she returned to the dugout for Chelsea's 3-0 Women's Super League victory over Tottenham. Hayes had been missing since early October as she recovered from surgery. She oversaw a comfortable win thanks to goals from Sam Kerr, Erin Cuthbert and Guro Reiten. Hayes said: "My back was killing me in the second half, but I didn't feel like I'd been away. I just felt like I was going back to my family." The match was played in front of 38,300 fans at Stamford Bridge - a record home crowd for Chelsea women. The victory puts Chelsea three points clear at the top of the WSL after they, Arsenal and Manchester United started Sunday level on 18 points from seven games following United's extraordinary 3-2 comeback win at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Aston Villa 3 (Daly 37, 45+1, 76) Reading 1 (Wade 7, Burns sent off 65) ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/5E26/production/_127720142_gettyimages-1443007205.jpgRachel Daly A hat-trick from Rachel Daly saw Aston Villa come from behind to beat Reading in the Women's Super League. Lauren Wade gave Reading an early lead but Daly scored two headed goals to put Villa ahead before the break. Reading's afternoon went from bad to worse in the second half as goalkeeper Jacqueline Burns was sent off for a foul on Kirsty Hanson. Daly sealed her excellent performance after she beat substitute keeper Grace Moloney from the penalty spot. West Ham United 1 (Atkinson 88) Leicester City 0 Izzy Atkinson scored a late winner to secure a Women's Super League victory for West Ham over Leicester. It had looked as if Leicester were going to gain their first point this season after a goalless 87 minutes. But the 21-year-old made the most of an opportunity after being picked out by Viviane Asseyi. Ashleigh Plumptre thought she had equalised for Leicester in added time but her effort was ruled out after hitting an offside team-mate. Brighton 3 (Terland 21, Carter 26 pen, Robinson 34) Liverpool 3 (Kearns 17, Van de Sanden 76, Furness 90+2) ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D162/production/_127720635_gettyimages-1443028568.jpgRachel Furness' header in added time ensured Liverpool avoided defeat in the WSL for the first time since 20 September Rachel Furness headed a 92nd-minute equaliser as Liverpool ended their six-match losing run in a thriller at Brighton. England newcomer Katie Robinson's stunning long-range strike for the hosts was the pick of the goals as Elisabeth Terland and Danielle Carter also netted after Missy Bo Kearns' opener for Liverpool during the first half. Shanice van de Sanden's half-time introduction proved a turning point for Liverpool, nodding in with 14 minutes remaining and setting up Furness' last-gasp leveller. In the 42nd match of the campaign, the first top-flight game of 2022-23 to end without a victory leaves Liverpool in 10th place, three points above bottom side Leicester. Brighton are three points further clear in ninth and remain unbeaten in two matches under interim head coach Amy Merricks. WSL Table as it Standswww.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/womens-super-league/table

Beth Mead: Arsenal & England forward out with anterior cruciate ligament injury..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/786E/production/_127703803_gettyimages-1442832348.jpgEngland forward Beth Mead will be out for "an extended period" after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, her club Arsenal said. Mead, 27, sustained the injury late in Saturday's Women's Super League loss to Manchester United at Emirates Stadium. She will see a surgeon in the coming days, after which further details on timescales will be established. Mead helped England win Euro 2022 last summer, earning the Golden Boot and the Player of the Tournament awards. She was also voted BBC Women's Footballer of the Year and was runner-up in the 2022 Ballon d'Or. "Everyone at the club will now be supporting Beth and working hard to get her back on the pitch as soon as possible," Arsenal said in a Arsenal statement. The Gunners are second in the Women's Super League after playing seven games, with Mead having scored three goals and provided a team-high four assists. Mead won her 50th cap for England during their 4-0 friendly win over Japan earlier this month and she has scored 29 goals for the Lionesses.

Katie Zelem lashed into the roof of the net to open the scoring for the hosts. Leah Galton's classy finish followed that on 28 minutes before Ella Toone's sweeping cross found Alessia Russo waiting to poke home at the back post. A stunning strike from Ona Batlle and a late Rachel Williams tap-in capped off a dominant performance from United. Marc Skinner's side sit top of the table before Chelsea and Arsenal play later on Saturday, while this was Aston Villa's first defeat in three games. Arsenal 1 (Miedema 24) Everton 0

Miedema produced a superb finish after 24 minutes, creating space for herself in the penalty area before firing spectacularly past Emily Ramsey. The Dutch striker was left with her hands on her head after she was denied by last-ditch Everton defending following a second-half corner at Meadow Park. But the single goal proved enough for Jonas Eidevall's side to respond positively to seeing their 14-match winning run ended by Manchester United a fortnight ago. Arsenal were able to welcome back England captain Leah Williamson following a two-month absence because of a foot injury, with the 25-year-old coming on as a second-half-substitute. But Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey, who denied Caitlin Foord late on among her 12 saves, prevented the Gunners being assured of victory up until the final whistle. Leicester City 0 Chelsea 8 (Reiten 4, Fleming 13, 50, Kirby 39, 82, Charles 41, Kerr 45, England 75) ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/9AA3/production/_127878593_gettyimages-1446500912.jpgFran Kirby scored her first two WSL goals of the season ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/4C83/production/_127878591_gettyimages-1446501121.jpgChelsea made light work of bottom side Leicester to maintain their impressive Women's Super League title defence at the King Power Stadium. The Blues were five goals up at the break thanks to Guro Reiten, Fran Kirby, Jessie Fleming, Niamh Charles and Sam Kerr. Fleming then grabbed her second and substitute Beth England headed home number seven. Kirby added an eighth on a ruthless afternoon for the leaders. It took just four minutes for Chelsea to take the lead through Reiten, who slid the ball into the bottom corner after clever link-up play with Kirby. Reiten then got the first of four assists eight minutes later, slotting the ball into Fleming and leaving her with a simple finish from close range. Fully in control, Chelsea began to exert themselves further, scoring three times in the final six minutes of the opening half. Kirby got in on the act with a classy outside-of-the-boot finish, before Charles headed home from a Reiten corner. Not to be left out, Kerr added a fifth as Reiten's assist stole the show again. Her searching ball left the Australian with an easy task, but her finish was typically emphatic. Five minutes after the break, Fleming added to Leicester's misery. Jemma Purfield's weak clearance from Charles' cross fell to her, and she dispatched with confidence. Moments after their introduction, Alsu Abdullina and England linked up for the latter to head home a seventh 15 minutes from time. There was still time for Kirby to bundle home late on, with Abdullina involved again.

Sunday 4th December Results..
Reading 1 (Turner 10 og) Tottenham Hotspur 0Reading moved seven points clear of the Women's Super League relegation zone as Amy Turner's first-half own goal gave them victory over Tottenham. Turner nodded in during a mix-up with Becky Spencer after the keeper tipped a long-range shot from Tia Primmer on to the crossbar at the Madesjki Stadium. Despite being beset by a flu outbreak, Reading controlled the game in the first half and would have extended their lead but for Spencer diverting captain Emma Harries' volley against the bar. Tottenham looked sharper after the break, only to find themselves indebted to Spencer again when she produced another inspired save to deny Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen from close range. Reading visibly tired in the latter stages and had keeper Jacqueline Burns to thank for thwarting Drew Spence and tipping away a shot from substitute Nikola Karczewska. Kelly Chambers' side hung on to climb one place to ninth with their first clean sheet and second win of the campaign, while Tottenham remain in seventh. Forward Harries, a 20-year-old youth product captaining Reading side for the first time, was a persistent threat and had begun to celebrate converting from Primmer's left-wing cross when Spencer pulled off one of several early stops. Spurs were considerably more dangerous after introducing Celin Bizet, Kerys Harrop and Chioma Ubogagu just before the 70-minute mark, but a third defeat in four WSL games puts them at risk of being cut adrift from the top six. Liverpool 2 (Holland 3, Stengal 20) West Ham 0Liverpool claimed their first win since the opening day of the Women's Super League season as Ceri Holland and Katie Stengel gave the Reds victory at home to West Ham. Holland capitalised on defensive uncertainty to prod in the opener before Stengel's expert finish doubled the hosts' lead after 20 minutes. West Ham struggled to escape their own territory at times, with Liverpool dominating possession and chances to mark captain Niamh Fahey's 100th appearance for the club in style. The Reds could have gone further ahead when Holland and Stengel went close in quick succession following a mistake by West Ham goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold. Australia international Arnold atoned for her error with an acrobatic save to deny Holland a second and an alert stop to push Yana Daniels' late header over the crossbar. Dagny Brynjarsdottir went closest for West Ham as her deflected strike was beaten away by home keeper Rachael Laws in the closing stages. The victory moved Liverpool into ninth, a point above Brighton and Reading and eight clear of bottom side Leicester. West Ham's second successive away defeat meant they remained below fifth-placed Aston Villa on goal difference. Manchester City 3 (Sarri 11 og, Blakstad 19, Coombs 26) Brighton & Hove Albion (Lee 90+3)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/134BE/production/_127883097_gettyimages-1446699683.jpgManchester City kept up the pressure on the top three in the Women's Super League with a comfortable home win over Brighton. All three goals for the hosts came inside the first 26 minutes as Gareth Taylor's fourth-placed side made a blistering start at the Academy Stadium. City were imperious in the first half with England forward Chloe Kelly at the heart of everything. Kelly's in-swinging corner led to the opening goal as Brighton goalkeeper Megan Walsh fumbled a regulation take and the ball went in off Seagulls' midfielder Veatriki Sarri in the 11th minute. Julie Blakstad doubled the lead eight minutes later with a superb diving header to divert Kelly's left-footed cross-cum-shot into the bottom corner. Then, with Brighton reeling, Laura Coombs added a third on 26 minutes with a fierce strike from 20 yards out that gave Walsh no chance. City could have added to their lead before the break and would have done were it not for a fine save from Walsh to deny Coombs in stoppage time, while Deyna Castellanos hit the post early in the second half. Brighton were much improved after the restart, though, and were rewarded for their efforts by Lee Geum-min's scrambled consolation in the final minute.

Sunday 11th December WSL Results..
Manchester City 1 (Coombs 58) Manchester United 1 (Galton 27)Manchester City played out a thrilling draw against neighbours and top-three rivals Manchester United at Etihad Stadium in the Women's Super League. After a positive start from the hosts, their momentum took a knock when Leah Galton skipped past City defender Laia Aleixandri and played a one-two with Ella Toone before driving through the legs of Alex Greenwood in the 27th minute. City's first-half response was not encouraging for the subdued home crowd and the opening exchanges of the second period did not make for better viewing. But Laura Coombs' header from Chloe Kelly's cross - which had evaded United defender Millie Turner, who was distracted by the presence of the WSL's top goal scorer Khadija Shaw - drew City level and sparked them and the home crowd into life. What ensued was an entertaining, end-to-end encounter, with both sides knowing a point - even though it was probably a fair result - would be no good to them if the title race and push for third-place goes down to the wire. City are fourth in the table, three points behind second-placed United after nine games. Leaders Chelsea are a further two points ahead. The result means United have still never beaten their city rivals in the WSL. City announced the attendance as 44,259, which would be the second highest in WSL history and a record for Manchester City women's football, but there seemed to be a lot of empty seats on a freezing afternoon. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/0EDF/production/_127970830_p0dnh60r.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/F9FC/production/_127969936_gettyimages-1448312386.jpgTottenham Hotspur 0 West Ham United 2 (Brynjarsdóttir 49, Cissoko 83)Dagny Brynjarsdottir and Hawa Cissoko scored second-half goals as West Ham secured a London derby win at Tottenham in the Women's Super League. Having missed a first-half penalty, Brynjarsdottir collected a loose ball and fired the visitors in front after 49 minutes. Cissoko struck on a late counter attack for the Hammers, who look set to end the calendar year fifth in the WSL. Defeat was Spurs' third in a row as they stayed seventh. The Hammers went three points ahead of Aston Villa, in sixth, who take on Arsenal later on Sunday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/E6ED/production/_127971195_gettyimages-1428657824.jpgDagny Brynjarsdottir has scored five WSL goals in 10 appearances for West Ham this season ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/98CD/production/_127971193_gettyimages-1428447990.jpgAston Villa v Arsenal - Venue: Villa Park, England - 4.15pmNetherlands striker Vivianne Miedema has stepped up for Arsenal in the last three games. She struggled at the start of the season, perhaps due to the amount of football she'd played or her ongoing recovery from testing positive for Covid-19 at the Euros in the summer, but after taking a break to "rest and recharge" she has looked much more like her old self. Her three goals in the last three games - two of which have been winners - have come after Beth Mead has been ruled out for the season with injury. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/112AD/production/_127971307_gettyimages-1245465217-1.jpgChelsea v Reading - 6.45pm Tonight

Aston Villa 1 (Hanson 6) Arsenal 4 (Corsie (26 og, Miedema 30, McCabe 62, Nobbs 84)Boss Jonas Eidevall says Arsenal "are in a great position" in the Women's Super League after coming from behind to brush aside Aston Villa. Kirsty Hanson's 20-yard strike gave the hosts a shock early lead but Rachel Corsie's own goal drew Arsenal level. Vivianne Miedema, Katie McCabe and Jordan Nobbs struck to take Arsenal above Manchester United into second. "It's important we are professional and get the job done - the team maturity pleased me," Eidevall told Sky Sports. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7F05/production/_127971523_shutterstock_editorial_13661003v.jpgVivianne Miedema has scored in four successive games for Arsenal in all competitions ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/10637/production/_127972176_gettyimages-1448365200.jpgChelsea 3 (Kirby 16, Cankovic 29, 33) Reading 2 (Troelsgaard 60, Eikeland 61)Chelsea ensured they will spend the winter break three points clear at the Women's Super League summit by holding off Reading at a snowy Kingsmeadow. Fran Kirby's early finish set the tone as the hosts dominated the first half, with Jelena Cankovic scoring twice. Cankovic stroked in after Johanna Rytting Kaneryd struck a post and headed in a cross four minutes later. But Reading then struck twice in two second-half minutes, through Sanne Troelsgaard and Amalie Eikeland. Troelsgaard's low shot squirmed under Ann-Katrin Berger following some uncertain defending before Eikeland fired in off a post as their side threatened to end Chelsea's eight-match winning league run. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10FFB/production/_127972696_gettyimages-1448373005.jpgFran Kirby slotted in to put Chelsea ahead as the reigning champions made it nine consecutive WSL wins since they were beaten on the opening day ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/02D7/production/_127972700_gettyimages-1448378493.jpg
