Not good enough today.
Yes Joe is experimenting and we've got decent players to come in but we must do better in this phase.
Disjointed. Loose ,lazy and hopeful passing. Uncreative. A wee bit wobbly in defence.
Jasper played a decent cameo on the right flank.
Best team won.
Earlier in the thread I asked if anyone had seen our defensive coach Kevin Bond.
Well he's no longer at Rovers.
Obviously we must do better.

So Bond has gone.
We've reverted to our old goal keeping coach.
Can anybody shed any light on whats going on?

I am genuinely shocked that people expect more, after the manager said it will not improve until we get our players in place. This is not tier 2. You realise we have most of the divi above us who had new players in the summer as well? The work rate was a joke, the signings have been rubbish, LM going for his 3rd consecutive relegation. I really do not know what to say, for once. The 3rd time we have allowed such superb momentum to just GTFO. It angers me if honest

Stats: BRFC 0 Accrington Stanley 1 - 57% - 43% - Shots 14-15 - On Target 3-4 - Corners 4-11 - Fouls 9-15 - Yellows 2-3 - Referee: Lee Swabey - Attendance: 8,906
Bristol Rovers' winless run stretched to eight games in all competitions as Accrington earned victory at the Memorial Stadium.
Joe Pritchard headed home a near-post corner from a Sean McConville delivery after 54 minutes to secure the visitors a second away win of the season in League One.
The former Bolton attacking midfielder had set up the set-pice, pinching possession off Paul Coutts and running at the Rovers goal until defender Bobby Thomas stepped in to intercept and put the ball out of play.
It was 26-year-old Pritchard's second league goal of the season and he could have scored earlier had he made the most of a 10th-minute chance. Instead, after Tommy Leigh chipped a ball over the defence, Pritchard's shot was tame.
Aaron Collins came closest to finding the net for Joey Barton's team as the Welshman hit the woodwork with a shot on the turn after 82 minutes.
Collins had other efforts too, curling just wide on the stroke of half-time and having another good effort blocked after a run from the corner flag.

wouldn’t have said work rate was missing but there was a total lack of cohesion about this performance. Better team won and you could see it coming from a mile away. We could have been there a week and still not scored. Ref was a fat useless puffer but ultimately didn’t cost us the game. Still it’s all coming good in October - along with fields of Brexit unicorns and our economy magically growing through giving the richest in the UK massive tax cuts. Happy days…… 😂😂😂😂 It's been a while my friend. I walked by a homeless guy the other day and gave him nothing. Later, on reflection, I sought out the most expensive home in the area and pushed a tenner through the letterbox. I know that this will "trickle down" to the homeless guy, I just do. 🤭🤭🤭 i suppose the homeless guy was grateful though that you didn’t set fire to the tenner under his nose, and that the rich household could stash it in their offshore bank account. Back to today thought to the subs did not improve us. Thought Clarke and Anderson were two of our better players in first half and would have hooked McCormick and Loft ahead of them. Struggling to pin down why it was so disjointed. We made yet another ordinary side look so much better than they really are

Considering the amount of practice Rovers put into 'specialised' corners, we are remarkably sleepy when defending them.
Bloody awful goal to concede today!

Allegedly overheard, at The Quarters, Monday 12th September...
JB: We're going with a back 3 and 2 wing-backs this Saturday. KB: But isn't that the formation you used before I arrived last year Joey? It wasn't going too well then. JB: I'm thinking outside the box Kev. KB: You need to defend the box first. JB: It's going to be funky Kev - Glen Whelan the middle of the 3, with 2 full-backs the other centre-backs. KB: OK Joey. I'm leaving amicably.
p.s. I wouldn't blame Whelan at all. Thought he gave 100%. I remember at one point being surprised he was winning his headers against a taller opponent. It was just that he was stitched right up.

Lots of people seemed upset when David Cole left, to be replaced by one of Joey's mates, so isn't it a good thing that he's come back to fill the vacancy?

Is it the players, is it the coaching or is it the tactics? Well I don't know. I mean great FCs like eg FC Barcelona get caught out at quickly taken corners. I would think it a players mistake because surely they should be aware of this tactic. Maybe the players concentration levels need a reminder to buck up from the Manager and coaches more often ,although as I 'said',Barcelona can get caught out. I don't know who our defence coach is now.

I have no idea about this alleged chat and I've heard nothing about KBs leaving except it was "amicable ". My guess is though that Kevin Bond ain't keen on this 3 4 3 formation (or at least not at Rovers) and so his time at Rovers has come to it's natural conclusion. Anyone have an idea who might be coaching the defence now KB has left?

I don't know who our defence coach is now. it wasn’t a quickly taken corner that was the problem. If you watch the highlights on sky the corner was defended but then a cute ball chipped in to space and whoever was supposed to be marking Pritchard switched off and allowed him a free header from about 5 yards out which he glanced into top corner. It was switching off for a moment and a clever chip that did the damage

The Stanley corners usually seemed to be aimed towards the near post/middle area. I remember they crossed one over the the far post and that almost caught Rovers out. I don't know how many corners Stanley had had before the goal, but I think they were all taken in relaxed manner,no rush. Maybe the 'quicker' short corner for the goal is why Rovers defence was found wanting. A cute tactic perhaps. JB mentioned something about a ball boy quickly giving the corner taker the ball and insinuated this led to our defence not being ready. Anyway,a poor goal to concede.

They had a short corner routine in the first half that nearly resulted in a goal were we were asleep for a couple of minutes. Almost like concentration is on being in a specific position and not looking at the full picture. As a CDM captn Coutts should have an eye open.

Just got back...
My oh my....well I guess the promotion honeymoon/bounce/feel good factor is over? Oh, hell.....what a performance!?
M o m Aaza again. I like Lofty work ethic.
The whole team ran round like headless chickens to give Bernard Matthews food for thought....not enough endeavour and distribution accuracy with the ball, not enough taking opportunity to shoot when it presented itself, no anticipation in receiving passing, too much space behind our defence.
Has this team met each other before?
Alfie passing awful. Thomas a liability, although 1 good block at the end. Coutts giving ball away in midfield. Too many players beating the first man, and possibly the second but getting themselves in trouble because they're not Pele on Escape to Victory..
The crowd reaction at the end was a good barometer of where some of us feel. That's too many matches struggling to compete with teams that ain't going anywhere this season, and more of that, families paying upward of £50 for a day out will probably choose to go bowling instead.....at least anything falling over will genuinely be hit by the ball!
Accy at it again a la Shrews. Dear oh dear...
Come on JAB, this was poor. We could and should have done better.

Curious as you usually seem to get home maybe 18 hours after the ft whistle.
