Yeah, lets bring Coughlan back as we beat Ipswich under his management..... Gerry Francis and John Ward took some big scalps in their first tenure with the Gas at Twerton Park so we got 'em back to rework that old magic at The Mem and we know how that finished up.
So, the tractor boys beater moved nearer home and blotted his CV no end in a short spell at Mansfield Town.
Where is GC now - joint manager of the Sheffield United Papa Don't Preach to Me About Pizza Trophy squad i believe.
I guess these potential finance guys know what they are about?

Think GC left Sheff U in the summer of 2021 and is not working at present.

I think what you are describing is the "Rovers Way" and believe me I've been there and enjoyed every minute of it. The 73/74 season was the highlight of my teenage years and the 06/07 season an absolute pleasure because my two young sons were usually with me. It is hardly ever mentioned but Sean Rigg's late winner at Macclesfield Town in April 2007 made for an absolute stormer of a night for the few hundred Gasheads present because, after much suffering, we knew there was still a chance of the play off's and from then on the world was going to be our lobster ! My heart wants to be a believer but my head tells me that we are forever going to be the hard done by "natural levelers" unless there is a huge culture change at the club. Yep the 2006/7 was a vintage year, a Johnson Basta## Paint trophy Final defeat and more importantly a promotion final victory which my two young daughters witnessed made me please.as punch! Unfortunately, vintage seasons, such as that are few and far between, we are the perpetual underachievers, not helped by decades of piss poor management. The jury’s out on JB (in more ways than one) but if he’s good to his word and sees the job through. Then this would be our best chance yet to finally have a modernised ,professional and potentially successful club that we can finally be proud off.. There then maybe a real chance of competing again with that other team in Bristol ( that’s right Manor Farm) UTFG Trouble with that is the manager has previous for spending big and i just do not see us ever doing that. I do not want to be prem as i hate it but it would be very nice to be a championship club. I just do not think it will happen as the sums involved are way too high and we just cannot compete or aspire to that. It can only be a dream for us fans. As has been said, nothing will change , not until we have a stadium that is fit for purpose and the funds to bring in that calibre of player.
