Left at 5-1 , that’s unacceptable.
Should’ve been drawing at half time, but Loft missed a couple of sitters and a lucky deflection gave them a 3-1 half time lead.
Can not believe that Kilgour didn’t start today.

It`s been the same story for the last two decades. Occasionally, just about good enough to get out of League 2. Never good enough to stay in League 1. Not saying that we can`t change that, but it looks ominous to me.

Haha! That was quite a bizarre football match.
Our defending was absolutely rubbish!
Going forward we could of scored 10!
Sort the defence out and we'll be getting more like it.
Obviously that's a very basic appraisal,but that's basically it.
We'll buck up sometime in October.

So was Kilgour being given a lesson? If Hoole is unavailable next week then we have one back from suspension and need another to be fit again. Or does Kilgour come back into the frame?

Stats: BRFC 3 Lincoln City 6 - 64% - 36% - Shots 15-13 - On Target 7-8 - Corners 9-5 - Fouls 9-10 - Yellows 2-0 - Referee: Tom Nield - Attendance: 8,078 (422 away) Match Report:Rovers are defeated at The Mem - Rovers lost their second game in a row in a frantic match at The Mem. Joey Barton made two changes to the starting XI from Tuesday's defeat against Ipswich Town. Glenn Whelan and Ryan Loft come into the side for Alfie Kilgour who drops to the bench and Bobby Thomas who missed out through suspension. It was almost the perfect start for Rovers. Trevor Clarke's cross deflected into the path of Luke McCormick who saw his shot zip narrowly past the top corner of Carl Rushworth's net. It was the perfect start for Lincoln. A low cross across the Rovers penalty area was poked under Belshaw by Ben House for his second goal in two games. It got worse for Rovers in the 14th minute when Glenn Whelan was adjudged to have fouled Ben House in the box and referee Nield didn't hesitate to point to the spot. Jack Diamond stepped up and rolled the ball past Belshaw to double the Imps lead. Rovers didn't let the two early goals dampen their spirit. A punt upfield by Belshaw was flicked on by Ryan Loft and into the path of Aaron Collins who rounded Rushworth and rolled the ball into an empty net to half the deficit. Antony Evans came within inches of scoring his second goal of the season. The midfielder's free-kick was whipped over the wall and had beaten Rushworth but crashed off the post and away from the danger. Ryan Loft thought he had pulled the Gas level just past the half-hour mark. After rounding Rushworth, Loft shot at goal and looked certain to score had it not been for some unbelievable defending from Lincoln captain Regan Poole to deflect the ball over the bar. Lincoln had their fourth five minutes after the restart. Luke McCormick's cross was cut out by Lincoln and they immediately looked to hit Rovers on the counter-attack. Oakley-Boothe surged into the area and had his effort blocked only for the ball to fall to Matty Virtue who fired the ball past Belshaw to the delight of the Lincoln fans behind the goal. Lincoln had their fifth minutes later. Jack Diamond held the ball up and despite pressure from Harry Anderson, dug out a shot at goal and, with the help of a slight deflection, the ball looped over the outstretched hand of Belshaw and into the net. Ryan Loft pulled one back for the Gas just before the hour mark. A surging run from Lewis Gordon ended with the defender rolling the ball into Ryan's feet who took aim and found the bottom corner with his effort for his third league goal of the season. Lincoln immediately responded. Ben House's sensational effort flew over Belshaw and into the far side of the net for Lincoln's sixth of the afternoon. Rovers hit back at Lincoln once again. Aaron Collins latched onto a through ball and for the second time of the afternoon, rounded Rushworth and fired the ball into an empty net. Joey Barton mixed his side up with the introductions of Harvey Saunders, John Marquis, Paul Coutts and Sylvester Jasper as the Gas looked for a route back into the game. Six minutes of additional time was signalled by the fourth official. However, it was too little too late for The Gas and the visitors head back to Lincoln with all three points. Next up for Rovers is the visit of Accrington Stanley to The Mem on Saturday, 24th September (3pm). ROVERS: James Belshaw, Lewis Gordon, Luca Hoole, Glenn Whelan, Harry Anderson (62'), Trevor Clarke (62'), Sam Finley (c), Antony Evans, Luke McCormick (62'), Aaron Collins, Ryan Loft (77'). Subs: Anssi Jaakkola, John Marquis (62'), Harvey Saunders (62'), Paul Coutts (62'), Alfie Kilgour, Sylvester Jasper (77'), Zain Westbrooke. LINCOLN CITY: Carl Rushworth, Regan Poole (c), Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Jordan Garrick, Paudie O'Connor, Ben House, Lasse Sorensen, Timothy Eyoma, Sean Roughan, Matty Virtue, Jack Diamond. Subs: Jordan Wright, Adam Jackson, Max Sanders, Charles Vernam, Tom Hopper, Jamie Robson, Jacob Davenport. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/contentassets/3ba91ddb38ce4c1daaebe6c8cf1cfed8/jmp_bristolrovers-v-lincolncity_rn_030.jpg

No way that scoreline was a reflection of the game. A superb free kick from Evans would normally have deflected in, not out. That's how our luck is running.
If Loft knew how to regularly score, we'd have gone in 4-2 or 4-3 up at half time.
With injuries, suspensions and yes, a less successful transfer window than hoped for, we were always going to have a ropey patch. Father Jack informed me that on Twitter, some absolute cretins were calling for Joey to be sacked. They should be ashamed of themselves.
We will be fine. UTFG. 🏴☠️🇪🇸

Have we ever conceded 6 at home before?

Absolutely shocking lethargic defensive performance today, where Lincoln at will, cut us to pieces. After a robust display at Champions Elect my glass half full is now definitely half empty.
Fortunately, we have arguably one of the best managers the club as every had, and he will sort it out. Nevertheless we are in a very tough league so mid table will be a good season.

UTFG 🤭🤭🤭 This is a genuine question and not intended to be controversial. I think we both started going in 1963 when Rovers were in the third division. In the ten years from then till we got promotion to the second division in 73/74 can you ever remember anyone talking about how we were in a very tough league and so mid table would be a good season ?

With both central defenders out we were always going to struggle. Whelan is still a good holding midfielder but he's no central defender, and they took full advantage. Their defence was wide open too at times and 6-6 would have been a fair result. We can't really judge the side until the best 11 have had a fair crack at it. Having said that, you must question the manager's team selection in the circumstances. Coutts with his endless running was a given today but was put on the bench alongside Kilgour, a decision I find baffling to be honest. Collins once again showed what a good striker he is, and Loft has come on leaps and bounds since last season. Plenty of positives there and Jasper looks like the flair player we've been calling out for. We go again!

Correct on the timeline. No I cannot. My personal view is that the current manager is mediocre at best.

There comes a time when you have to question the manager's judgement when too many of his summer recruits have missed the majority of games so far this season, his team's poor disciplinary record continues and he sent out a team on Saturday, against that backdrop, that were so tactically ill prepared that they conceded 6 goals to a very average team. Player availability dictates tactics, surely? That smacks of a lack of professionalism and an arrogance which says "I don't care that you spent your hard earned money to turn up and watch us" Then, a couple of weeks after massaging his ego in the media when stating he wants overtake the other lot in Bristol, loses 3-6 at home and says we are in a tough division. I smell bullsh*t.

Pleased to see the response of the support at the end clapping the team off rather than booing, as for the Barton baiters, well enough said mate.

My take on the game yesterday.
The game itself was a highly entertaining game from start to finish, end to end with plenty of chances.
We were shocking defensively, completely unable to stop the Lincoln attack and every time the approached our goal I expected them to score.
We had three recognised central defenders not in the team yesterday (not sure why Kilgour did not play), so it is not surprising that we struggled, but to be fair we have struggled defensively all season so far.
Defence is our major problem and I have 100% confidence that JB will sort it out.
Going forward, we were superb yesterday. Collins is on fire and took his two goals very well (could easily have had a hat-trick). Lovely unselfish set up for Loft as well. He is a quality player and deserves to be top scorer.
Loft I felt had a good game, and is linking up well with Collins. On another day could have had a hat-trick as well.
The positive for me is that we created a LOT of chances, and another day could easily have scored 6 of 7.
Fair play to Lincoln, they had an amazing day out and were very vocal throughout.
Yesterday was one of those days. Lincoln seemed to score every half-chance (some of which we would expect Belshaw to save easily), and we missed our chances.
No time to panic, our team are doing many things right. We will not get relegated this season and JB will "stop the rot" at the back.
You have to remember just how awful we were in September, October and even November last season.
UTG.

While Loft was profligate up top Whelan was a total liability playing in the newly created 'false 5' role.
The players around him didn't have a clue where he was or what their role was, if Loft had the rub of the green it may have papered over the grave selection error that ultimately gifted the 3 points to Lincoln.
The question that has to be asked is, does JB have a problem with Alfie?
Not to select AG in the starting XI under the current defensive circumstances was a gamble and not to bring him on for GW at half time was utter madness as the start to the 2nd period illustrates.
Similarly leaving Coutts on the bench was equally as mystifying.
Give your head a shake JB the fixture against Accie Stanley next week is a must win game.
