It`s been the same story for the last two decades. Occasionally, just about good enough to get out of League 2. Never good enough to stay in League 1. Not saying that we can`t change that, but it looks ominous to me. Ain’t going to change until we either get a new ground or redevelop the Mem. It’s as simple as that. It is as simple as that, until then, we will not have the income streams to be able to compete and consolidate at Championship level. UTFG

My take on the game yesterday. The game itself was a highly entertaining game from start to finish, end to end with plenty of chances. We were shocking defensively, completely unable to stop the Lincoln attack and every time the approached our goal I expected them to score. We had three recognised central defenders not in the team yesterday (not sure why Kilgour did not play), so it is not surprising that we struggled, but to be fair we have struggled defensively all season so far. Defence is our major problem and I have 100% confidence that JB will sort it out. Going forward, we were superb yesterday. Collins is on fire and took his two goals very well (could easily have had a hat-trick). Lovely unselfish set up for Loft as well. He is a quality player and deserves to be top scorer. Loft I felt had a good game, and is linking up well with Collins. On another day could have had a hat-trick as well. The positive for me is that we created a LOT of chances, and another day could easily have scored 6 of 7. Fair play to Lincoln, they had an amazing day out and were very vocal throughout. Yesterday was one of those days. Lincoln seemed to score every half-chance (some of which we would expect Belshaw to save easily), and we missed our chances. No time to panic, our team are doing many things right. We will not get relegated this season and JB will "stop the rot" at the back. You have to remember just how awful we were in September, October and even November last season. UTG. Spot on! Normally 3 goals would win you the game but ‘keystone Cop’ defending caused embarrassment and three points. UTFG

Blimey!
Some actually don't understand the difference between a 100 metre sprint and a marathon.

Anyone know when Josh Coburn is likely to be in the squad?
Then there's our other injured/suspended players?
Any back for the Stanley game eg?

We could be cut adrift by then and i think he needs to take responsibility for the poor window and for bringing an injured player into the club. I do not buy the tough league nonsense as he is just backtracking. Anyway, it doesn’t matter what i think, let’s see how the manager get to grips with what comes next

Just got back!
Well well well... pantomime season early!? First time I've seen more than 5 hit against us. Has anyone seen more than 10 goals in a game? (I was at Eastville as am sure many others here were Charlton 5-5), which we thought at one time we might witness..
m o m Aaza whom is fast becoming the best step up from league 1 in our squad.
Something's happened to Belly. I would seriously think about resting him. At least 2 goals he could have done much better....but you don't need me to review the game, the farce speaks for itself.
I actually clapped at the end! Why not? The spectacle that unravelled was entertaining end to end and slapstick funny in parts.....if you have that sort of sense of humour!?
Disagree with some of JAB comments. Yes he should take responsibility, and like we tried to get back into the game and never gave up....but, after such an unprofessional defensive mix up more than once, people had paid to be there not to witness that, they are entitled to boo. It's not good enough. Substandard. How are you supposed to express that if you've travelled and invested time and money?
Also I would contest..... attack is the best form of defence? Not with our attack. Not with our defence.

Nice to hear from you, i watched via a stream at a friends house but it must have been from somewhere on the east side as i could not see Barton and whether he was animated or nor. Bravo to those that went is all i can say as i don’t think it’s right that i talk about the game itself, when i was not there in person. I do have my doubts about the manager as i have yet to see him say something simple, such as this was entirely my fault, i picked the wrong players and set up..i just do not think he has this in him. Why did he not make changes as soon as he saw that whelan was being overrun and not able to do the intended job ? I also really do not think it is anywhere helpful in saying we will not get better until the injured and missing are back, this is YOUR team now, let’s see you motivate them. By the time he expects us to get better, we could be cast adrift and then every match will be a relegation battle. You simply cannot write off a quarter of a season and i am befuddled by this mindset and how accepting so many are of it.

No way that scoreline was a reflection of the game. A superb free kick from Evans would normally have deflected in, not out. That's how our luck is running. If Loft knew how to regularly score, we'd have gone in 4-2 or 4-3 up at half time. With injuries, suspensions and yes, a less successful transfer window than hoped for, we were always going to have a ropey patch. Father Jack informed me that on Twitter, some absolute cretins were calling for Joey to be sacked. They should be ashamed of themselves. We will be fine. UTFG. 🏴☠️🇪🇸 Spot on, if Loft had squared it at 2-2 with the 2 sitters he bolloxed up we would have seen a far different outcome. Pleased to see the response of the support at the end clapping the team off rather than booing, as for the Barton baiters, well enough said mate. Well said. As you know, at 1-5 the pub called me and it's a huge relief to hear that the players didn't get booed off. Why Coutts didn't start baffles me. Ditto, Kilgour. But hey, Joey Barton is a trained coach and manager and had his reasons, so fair play for the experiment.

This is a genuine question and not intended to be controversial. I think we both started going in 1963 when Rovers were in the third division. In the ten years from then till we got promotion to the second division in 73/74 can you ever remember anyone talking about how we were in a very tough league and so mid table would be a good season ? With respect, I am quite surprised that you try and compare todays football to football from the Sixties and Seventies. Especially, as your take, from time to time, on the clubs financial matters is always informative and enlightening. It’s now all about the ‘money honey’ and as father Hackett commented, until we get a new ground / redeveloped Mem nothing will change. I reiterate this season League One is very tough league, as it’s now become rammed with top clubs with very deep pockets. Toteend2 analysed the Ipswich squad, and concluded they all ‘top draw’ players both the first team, along with second tier of players who are also quality. This makes recruitment very difficult for JB, especially when a potential target has the choice, either of playing at Ipswich, Bolton, Charlton, Derby, Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday…………or they could come to Rovers with the chance of playing in a ground that resembles a Second World War Air Raid Shelter, like I’ve got in the garden with the roof missing. That said JB already proved his attributes by still being able to put together a team that undoubtedly played the best football I ever watched from a Rovers team in half a century plus. Long gone are the days when the players had a few pints and cigarettes before the game ( thank goodness ) UTFG

JAB on record for berating previous management by saying poor pre season, now we're still experimental...? Um, surely that's what pre season is for (pending monumental injury problems). He just let Whelan stew in his misfortune when he included a recently recinded red card defender on bench...? Everyone could see Whelan was struggling. You could hear the groans when the ball went near him in first half! .... JAB didn't address this until we had lost the match. Reminiscent of Exeter away last season? Hmmmm.... what's our next league away match? 🤔

It sounds strange, but I was more concerned by the Morecambe result than yesterday's loss. Apparently, relegation favourites Morecambe were the better team, which doesn't sound like it was the case yesterday. Appalling bad luck, individual errors and a long injury list combined to produce a surreal scoreline.
We have to be patient and remember that the first-choice team is certainly good enough to survive in D1.
But JB still hasn't learned from the relegation season, when he was writing off games and even the whole season. What incentive does it give to the players in the team if JB effectively says things won't improve until the injured players return? Will the opposition manager even need to give a motivational speech?
JB really needs to learn to think before speaking.
