Put it this way if school teachers were all right wing do you honestly think Starmer would even be considering giving the vote to 16 yr olds.... of course he wouldn't. If that's true about teachers, then maybe it's because they see the consequences of Conservative policies on the most vulnerable in society. 🧐 I'd dispute that. In 2010 when Labour were kicked out 68% of schools were rated good or outstanding. Last year 89% of schools were rated good or outstanding. Primary school children in England came out top in Europe and 4th internationally in Reading proficiency so Conservative policies were clearly having a good effect on the most vulnerable in society.

It's fair, I'm thinking more the social side such as the loss of things like Surestart and the two child cap. Neither side are great or rubbish, same as not all teachers or professors are leftie woke. Both are weak arguments and we ought to concentrate on the nitty gritty. By attaching labels to whole swathes of the public, we are as guilty as those we supposedly despise. Shall we drop the name calling? 🤝

Critical thinking is taught much younger, but probably subject dependent. I certainly learnt it, history makes you question the sources and bias. My daughter is learning too and she's Year 7. Yes of course. But wouldn't you agree that a challenge, to question, requires a degree of age related maturity? You mention history and for me that is a classic topic. My history education up to 14 at school was more propaganda than one that taught me context. 14-18 that changed when we discussed cause and effect, to name but one element. I have two 6 year old granddaughters in the States who go to a French/American school, it's fascinating to watch how their education is developing, incorporating French as a first language Interesting Oldie, but at what age did you ' discover/ realise ' that the history you had been taught was propaganda? most surely not at the time....and on your Gk's linguistic education, when a great amount of the ' working world, internationally' tends to ' go English language,eg, air traffic, though I am not in anyway knocking the fact they are becoming bi- lingual

Would agree with what you have said although unsure what your last line is in reference to.

I cannot argue with any sincerity that I used the word "propaganda", I may have done. But 1969/1970 was a different world. There was a general rejection of established "teaching" As for the grandkids, their first language is English. Their mother is French. If all goes to plan they will be bilingual like their mother

Just referring to those tired tropes like right wing, woke, leftie, etc. It just gets backs up and doesn't help the debate.

Sadly for you Ice, most of what has been posted up about him is a matter of public record That doesn't mean that it's all the truth, yet people do not seem to understand that. See I honestly do not believe everything that Mr Robinson has ever said,as I know he is has made mistakes. But I know for a fact that he is not the boogyman that some on here think, along the media tells us that he is. The classic example of this is the riots over the past two weeks. Tommy has consistently called for peaceful protests, and for calm, yet you all dismissed,or ignored it. I have proven this 3/4 times this week. Critical thinking was brought up here earlier, but how can anyone do any critical thinking if they only look at one side of the evidence, and the one that fits their own narrative for any source of balance. For example, I brought up about yourself and others on here watching the film Tommy is going to court for. You said that it was beneath you, or you wouldn't waste your time viewing it,as did others on here also. They only person that did on here was Top up, and I respect him for it, because he wanted to look up the facts for himself by watching it and then formed his opinion. See Ifollow people from the left side of political arena,as well as the right, and then I have form my own opinion's. So the Government don't tell the truth about Tommy. The courts don't tell the truth about Tommy. The media don't tell the truth about Tommy. Social media doesn't tell the truth about Tommy. The left woke don't tell the truth about Tommy. So who does? Don't tell me, Tommy tells the truth about Tommy!

Mad that the BBC banned him, he's still got beef with the police of course:

I had ten or so Peel festive 50s on cassette, probably still do somewhere. I quite like listening to his son now too
