Breaking News: Two police officers stabbed in central London.
Two police officers have been taken to hospital after being stabbed in central London, the Metropolitan Police says.
The incident, which took place near Leicester Square at about 06:00 BST, is not thought to be terror-related.
The condition of the officers is not known.
A Taser was used, Scotland Yard says, and a man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker. He is also being treated in hospital.
London mayor Sadiq Khan branded the attack "utterly appalling".
He said: "These brave officers were doing their duty and assisting the public at this momentous time for our country.
"My thoughts and prayers are with them, their loved ones and police colleagues following this disgraceful attack."

A suspect has been arrested and he is also in hospital.

Other information outlets ( online) also explain eg certain groups of people are far more likely to be the offenders in certain crimes.So much so,you can with relitive accuracy ( of course not always) predict 'whodunnit ' as it were.
It's stats,not racism and of course acceptable to point these statistics out.

Khayri McLean: Two boys charged with murder over Huddersfield school stabbing.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with the murder of Khayri McLean, who was stabbed outside a school in Huddersfield, police say.
Khayri, 15, was attacked outside North Huddersfield Trust School and died in hospital on Wednesday, according to West Yorkshire Police.
The two teenagers charged with murder are due to appear before Leeds magistrates court on Monday.
They have both also been charged with possession of a bladed article.
After the incident in Woodhouse Hill on Wednesday afternoon, Khayri was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and died a short time later.
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: "Detectives investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy in Huddersfield have charged two males with murder.
"Both males, who are 15 and 16 and from Huddersfield, have also been charged with possession of a bladed article.
"Both have been remanded in custody to appear before Leeds magistrates tomorrow.
"The charges relate to the death of Khayri McLean, who died after he was stabbed in Woodhouse Hill, Huddersfield, last Wednesday."

Gateshead stabbing: Tomasz Oleszak, 14, named as victim.
A 14-year-old boy who died after being stabbed has been named by police.
Tomasz Oleszak, from Gateshead, was seriously injured in the Aycliffe Crescent area of the Springwell Estate at about 20:00 BST on Monday.
He died in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder and a girl, 13, held on suspicion of assisting an offender remain in custody.
Northumbria Police said Tomasz's family were "utterly devastated".
Cards left with flowers where he was found describe him as an "amazing friend" and someone "loved and missed by many".
The teenager played at Gateshead Cleveland Hall Community Football Club which said in a statement it was "devastated" to learn of his death.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and anyone that knew Tomasz," it said.
In a fundraising page set up in Tomasz's memory, one of his football coaches said he was a "very kind, caring young man" who had been brought to the UK by his parents for a better life and "didn't deserve what has happened to him".
He said: "He was much-loved member of his local community and will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
"This is every parent's worst nightmare come true and can't imagine what they're going through."
The appeal aimed at supporting Tomasz's family has raised more than £12,000 and received dozens of messages of condolence.
Bob Boustead, chairman of Tomasz's football club, told BBC Look North the whole of "grass-roots community of football" was in shock, adding: "We've never had anything like this. It's very difficult to get to grips with."

Bishopsgate: Three in hospital after City of London stabbings.
Three people are in hospital after being stabbed in the City of London.
Part of Bishopsgate has been cordoned off, near to its corner with Camomile Street, after City of London Police was called at 09:46 BST.
The BBC has been told a victim of a "phone snatch" was injured after fighting back, along with other members of the public who stepped in to help.
Police confirmed the case was being treated as a suspected robbery, adding it was not terror-related.
In a tweet, the City of London Police said: "We received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 09:46 and officers arrived at the scene at 09:51."
London Ambulance Service (LAS) said paramedics treated four patients at the scene, with three of those taken to hospital.
Nickie Aiken, Cities of London and Westminster MP, said she was "concerned" about the attack.
She tweeted: "I'm in contact with City Police for updates.
"My thoughts are with all those involved including the first responders."
