Killed (tortured and disfigured) his ex girlfriend and her partner and raped another woman afterwards.

Domestic abuser Marcus Osborne stabbed his former lover 99 times, murdered her new partner after cutting off his genitals and raped another woman at knifepoint.

Osborne, 35, was today given a whole life order at Leeds Crown Court for the murder of his ex-partner Katie Higton and her new boyfriend Steven Harnett.

The 'monstrous' offender, who had a shocking history of domestic violence murdered the pair shortly after being arrested for threatening to kill them and released on bail just two days earlier, a court heard yesterday.

Miss Higton, 27, and launched a 'ferocious and merciless' attack - brutally stabbing her to death when she walked in the door after a night out with Mr Harnett.

He then messaged Mr Harnett, 25, on mental health nurse Miss Higton's phone and 'lured' him to her house in Huddersfield to his death, Leeds Crown Court was told.

Osborne also attacked Mr Harnett when he walked through the door and stabbed him to death.

He gruesomely cut off the victim's penis while he was still alive, prosecutor Jonathan Sandiford revealed.

Mr Sandiford said: 'The defendant committed a premeditated and brutal double murder motivated by sexual jealousy, a desire to exercise control over Katie Higton, an unwillingness to accept her decision to leave him and her freedom to form a relationship with another man.'

Miss Higton was stabbed 99 times in the frenzied assault while Mr Harnett received 24 knife wounds.

The grandparents of a two-year-old North Wales boy have appeared in court accused of the child's murder. Ethan Ives Griffiths was found at the home of Michael and Kerry Ives in Garden City on August 14, 2021.

Ethan was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool where he later died from a brain injury. Michael Ives, 46, and his wife Kerry, 45, appeared by video link in Mold Crown Court today while on remand at HMP Berwyn and HMP Styal respectively.

A judge heard an application for bail which was refused. The couple, of Kingsley Road, spoke only to confirm their names during the hearing which lasted about half an hour.

No formal pleas were entered today. As well as murder the couple also face assault and neglect charges.

His Honour Rhys Rowlands remanded the defendants in custody pending a plea and trial preparation hearing on May 17th.
He set a trial date probably in Mold Crown Court, for November 4th. He also said the trial is expected to last three or four weeks.

Ethan's mother Shannon Kayleigh Ives, 27, of Mold, is charged with causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

She was also charged with causing the assault, ill-treatment, neglect or abandonment of a child to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
She has been bailed to appear in court on April 4th.

All three defendants will appear together at Mold Crown Court on 17th May.

Mikey Roynon (above), from Bristol, was knifed in the back of the neck at a house on Eastfield Avenue, Bath on June 10th last year.

The victim, who had just finished his GCSEs, died at the scene at around 11pm.

The trio, who are all 16, took knives to a teenage girl's 16th birthday party. The event was crashed by 200 people after it was advertised on social media.

One of the boys admitted stabbing Mikey but claimed he was acting in self defence. He said the victim had swung a knife towards his friends.

The three boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, decided not to give evidence in their defence.

Prosecutors argued that the two friends were also armed with knives and therefore were jointly responsible for the attack on Mikey.

All three boys will be sentenced on May 3rd at Bristol Crown Court.

Mikey worked part time as a loader for Siggz Of The Dump, a licensed rubbish clearance and waste disposal firm, operating in the Bristol area.

He had been due to start a full time job there this week.

Stabbing Attack in Illinois Leaves 4 Dead and 5 Injured..by Brie Stimson

A stabbing spree in Illinois left four people dead and five injured, including one person in critical condition, officials said Wednesday.

The attacks happened at multiple locations in Rockford, Illinois, west of Chicago.

A suspect, who police said "attacked and stabbed" the victims, has been taken into custody.

Police said he is a 22-year-old man, but he remains identified.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and one victim died later at a hospital.

The victims include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, police said in an update.

Rockford Mayor Tom McNamera said he was "totally shaken" by the "senseless" violence of the attack.

The attacks happened on Holmes Street, Winnetka Drive and Cleveland Avenue.

One of the victims was a mail carrier who worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, officials confirm. The postal worker was reportedly run over by a vehicle and stabbed.

None of the victims have been identified as of yet.

DPD driver murder: Five guilty of Shrewsbury ambush killing..By Richard Price, BBC News, West Midlands.

Four men who used an arsenal of weapons to beat a DPD delivery driver to death after ambushing him have been found guilty of murder.

Aurman Singh 23 (above) who was tracked by the gang on his round, sustained serious head injuries when he was struck with an axe, in Shrewsbury.

Witnesses described seeing him repeatedly struck with the weapon in the attack, last August.

After a trial at Stafford Crown Court, four men were convicted of murder.

A fifth man was cleared of murder but has been found guilty of manslaughter.

During the 5-week trial, the court heard that between them the killers used a knife, an axe, a golf club, a wooden stave, a metal club, a hockey stick, a shovel and a cricket bat, during the fatal attack.

In a statement issued after the verdict, Mr Singh's family said: "There are no words that could ever explain the impact this tragedy has had."

Those guilty of murder are:

Arshdeep Singh, 24 of Shaw Road, Tipton, Dudley;

Jagdeep Singh, 23, of Goodrich Mews, Dudley;

Shivdeep Singh, 27, of Greenfield Road, Smethwick;

Manjot Singh, 24, also of Greenfield Road, Smethwick;

Sukhmandeep Singh, 24, from Paynels, in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was convicted of manslaughter.

The 5 defendants are due to be sentenced at a later date.

West Mercia Police said detectives had worked with a number of other forces during a "complex investigation" to bring the killers to justice.

Prosecutors had told the court that a total of 8 men had travelled in two cars - a black Audi and a white Mercedes - to Berwick Avenue in Shrewsbury, where they lay in wait for Aurman Singh.

The men had been directed by a 9th man - Sukhmandeep Singh - from the DPD depot in Stoke-on-Trent, where the victim was based, the jury was told.

Four other men believed to have been involved in the fatal attack are still at large, police have said.

The court heard that on the day he was murdered, Mr Singh and a colleague were due to make a delivery in Berwick Avenue.

As they pulled up in their van, Mr Singh's colleague got out of the vehicle to deliver a package.

Unknown to them however, the 8 men had been waiting for them in their cars down the road, before following the van when it arrived in Berwick Avenue.

Seven of the eight men then jumped out, each of them concealing his face with a mask and carrying a weapon.

Prosecutors said Mr Singh was chopped in the head three times with the axe, fracturing his skull with one blow penetrating his brain.

He was also clubbed over the head with the golf club with such force, its head broke off and the shaft was left bent.

Mr Singh was also attacked with the hockey stick and a wooden stave, before being stabbed in the back with such force, the knife cut through one of his ribs.

It was an attack intended to kill him, prosecutors said, and he was left to die in a pool of blood on the side of the road.

Witnesses told the court that after the attack finished, they had seen Mr Singh lying sprawled across the pavement.

The Crown Prosecution Service said that throughout the trial, no evidence had been submitted to indicate a motive for the ferocious attack.

"It isn't necessary in order to prove murder to prove a motive, to prove why it happened," prosecutors told the court early in the case.

"And in this case the prosecution will not try to prove why it happened. We don't have evidence to prove why it happened."

The 36-year-old journalist was rushed to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

The stabbing of an Iranian TV news channel presenter follows "heavy threats" made to the London-based station, a spokesman has said.

Iran International presenter Pouria Zeraati, 36, was attacked by a group outside his home in Wimbledon, south London.

On Saturday he posted a picture smiling from his hospital bed as he recovers.

Counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation, while the Iranian regime has denied any involvement.

London-based Iran International aims to provide independent coverage of events in the country, but the regime in Tehran has declared it a terrorist organisation.

Its spokesman Adam Baillie told BBC Radio 4's Today programme the station had been under "threat, heavy threats" for 18 months.

He said the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has been targeting journalists and their families.

"Along with our colleagues at BBC Persian, Iran International has been under threat, very heavy threats, for the last 18 months since the IRGC said 'we're coming for you', which they have consistently repeated," Mr Baillie said.

The IRGC "get in touch through proxies, they don't leave a paper trail", he said.

"No one's going to call up from the IRGC and go 'hey, it's us', but families have been taken in for questioning and threatened," Mr Baillie said.

He added: "The scale of that has increased dramatically over the last few months and the scale and the type of questioning is more aggressive. 'Tell your relatives to stop working for this channel' and so on."

The incident was "hugely frightening", he said, but Mr Zeraati was "doing very well" and recovering.

Later on Saturday, Mr Zeraati posted a photo of himself in hospital on X, formerly Twitter, making a peace or V for victory sign.

Mr Baillie was asked what he believed lay behind the attack.

"We can't say," he said. "The fact that counter-terrorism is leading the investigation probably speaks for itself."

The Metropolitan Police said the motivation for the attack on Friday was not yet clear, but Mr Zeraati's occupation coupled with recent threats towards UK-based Iranian journalists meant the investigation was being led by specialist counter-terrorism officers.

Iran International presenter and former BBC World Service journalist Sima Sabet reported on X that police had urged her to leave her home following the attack on Mr Zeraati.

She wrote that Revolutionary Guards had attempted to assassinate her and a colleague last year.
