A woman has been stabbed to death in Tower Hamlets.

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was stabbed in Tower Hamlets, east London.

Police were called just after 1am on Sunday morning to reports of a woman suffering stab injuries at an address in Duckett Street.

London Ambulance Service attended alongside Metropolitan police but the woman, believed to be in her thirties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Two arrests have been made. A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder a short time after police arrived at the scene. She remains in custody.

A 37-year-old man has also been arrested n suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody.

A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed that the people involved 'appear to be known to each other' and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

One of Georgia's most well-known transgender women has been killed in her home, a day after the country's parliament passed a major anti-LGBT bill.

Local officials say Kesaria Abramidze, 37, was stabbed to death in her flat in the capital Tbilisi on Wednesday.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in the case that has shocked the small South Caucasian nation. Georgian media reported he was known to the victim.

Rights groups have linked the killing to the new anti-LGBT law, arguing the government's promotion of it had fuelled transphobic hate crime.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who opposed the new law, said the "horrendous murder" raised urgent questions about hate crimes and discrimination.

The legislation from Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's government severely restricts rights for LGBT people.

It introduces a ban on same-sex marriage, gender-affirming surgeries, child adoption by non-heterosexuals and the promotion of same-sex relationships in schools.

The bill sailed through parliament on Tuesday in an 84-0 vote, despite criticism from rights groups.

The ruling party said the "Protection of Family Values and Minors" bill was designed to protect a majority of Georgians seeking protection from "LGBT propaganda".

But local LGBT rights campaigners said the government had used homophobic and transphobic language and ideas in promoting the bill.

Several activists directly linked what they said was the government's harmful rhetoric to the killing of Ms Abramidze.

One of the first openly trans public figures in the country, she had represented Georgia in international trans pageants and had more than 500,000 followers on social media.

"Political homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia have become central to the government’s official discourse and ideology," said local human rights group the Social Justice Center.

"Kesaria Abramidze's killing cannot be viewed separately from this overall grave context," it added.

Progressive politicians outside the country have also linked the killing to the government's legislative agenda.

"Those who sow hatred will reap violence. Kesaria Abramidze was killed just one day after the Georgian parliament passed the anti-LGBTI law,” wrote German lawmaker Michael Roth, the social democratic chair of the country's foreign affairs committee.

European Union figures had already condemned the legislation when it passed earlier this week, saying it further jeopardised the country's stated aim of joining the EU.

Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, said the law was "further derailing the country from its EU path". He called on the Georgian government to withdraw the law.

The legislation undermines the "fundamental rights of the people" and increases discrimination and stigmatisation, he added.

The British embassy has also expressed "serious concerns".

Rights groups have characterised the Georgian legislation as being similar to Russian laws which severely restrict LGBT rights.

The Washington-based think tank Freedom House said the bill was "pulled directly from the Kremlin's authoritarian playbook".

The grieving father of Shawn Seesahai who was hacked to death with a machete has revealed his 19-year-old son's harrowing last moments in an emotional interview.

Speaking from his native Anguilla, heartbroken Suresh Seesahai held back tears as he recounted the moment he learned his son had been murdered in Britain, where he had come for a better life.

Suresh told how Shawn had begged 'daddy, help me' as two 12-year-old boys chopped and beat him to death in Wolverhampton last November, and how he is haunted by his son's final moments and 'how scared he must have been'.

His family have described the unprovoked attack on the 19-year-old as senseless, having been committed 'for no reason at all'.

'What was shocking for the investigation was that those two suspects were 12 years old.'

At Nottingham Crown Court today, Mrs Justice Tipples ordered each boy to be detained at His Majesty's pleasure for a minimum of eight years and six months – meaning they will remain in custody until they are at least 20.

The sentence includes time spent living in secure accommodation where they have been since the offence last November.

The judge told the boys: 'What you both did is horrific and shocking. You both killed Shawn in an attack that lasted less than a minute when he asked you to move from where you were on a park bench.

'Shawn did not deserve to be attacked. He did not deserve to die… It's clear that the sentence I have decided to pass cannot make that right.

'What you did in those few short moments has also changed your life forever. You will have to live with the consequences. I cannot be sure which one of you stabbed Shawn. Only you know that, but you acted together.'

Mr Seesahai, who was living in Handsworth, Birmingham at the time of his death, had cataracts that he had been unable to get treatment for in Anguilla. After successful surgery in the UK he was 'able to start planning for the future and think about getting an education', prosecutor Michelle Heeley KC said.

However, his life was brutally cut short after he and his friend encountered the boys near a bench in the park.

Ms Heeley told jurors that despite the fact he had 'offered no violence, nor done anything to offend', he became the victim of a savage attack after one of the boys deliberately 'shoulder brushed' him then pulled a machete from his trousers.

Mr Seesahai ended up on the floor where jurors heard he was punched, kicked and knifed – struck so hard on the skull with the machete that a piece of bone came away.

It's not the knives,just like it's not the guns in America. It's a society change that's been allowed by Political correctness.

The gangs,and young men are seeing it as cool to carry weapons and know that nothing will happen to them by the law.

Popular culture has made a lot of young men want to become 'gangsta's', guns are still difficult to be obtained in Britain compared to USA,knives are everywhere, stabbing someone gives these youths some kudos.
Hip hop stars must have been shot to have any 'credibility' , TV and music have glamourised  gangsters/crime  so its not surprising when youths try and emulate what they have seen on screen.

One gym that I use is full of  lads like this,pumping themselves up,gold chains (worn in the gym whilst training too !) nice Audi or BMW in the car park,they have a different mindset,last week I had finished my workout and had a sweat on so as I was leaving I put a tracksuit top on, one bloke covered in bling was walking out at the same time...he was taking his shirt off !
