England 275 all out, Brook 108, Duckett 79, Stokes 41, Root 21, Abrar 4-120. Pakistan 64-0, Shafique 34, Rizwan 28. Lunch - Pakistan need 291 more runs to win, with 2 1/2 days play left. It is theirs to lose, Yet another test match that will be over in 4 days. The last 5 wickets fell for 19 runs, but started with the idiotic run out of Crawley. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/18232/production/_127966889_gettyimages-1448265329.jpg

England 275 all out, Brook 108, Duckett 79, Stokes 41, Root 21, Abrar 4-120. Pakistan 328 all out, Shafique 45, Rizwan 30, Imam 60, Nawaz 45, Shakeel 94, Wood 4-65 England win by 26 runs, that was a close thing. England pulled off another sensational victory in Pakistan, winning the second Test by 26 runs to seal a historic series triumph. Mark Wood took three crucial wickets on the fourth day in Multan just as Pakistan were closing in on what would have been a superb chase of 355. At 290-5, Wood had Mohammad Nawaz caught down the leg side for 45 then, one run later, did the same to dismiss Salman Agha for 94, but only after a lengthy deliberation by the third umpire. Abrar Ahmed was caught at cover off James Anderson and Wood splattered the stumps of Zahid Mahmood at pace in excess of 90mph for his fourth wicket of the innings. Though Agha Salman kept tension high with regular boundaries, Ollie Robinson had number 11 Mohammad Ali caught behind to leave Pakistan 328 all out. It gives England victory in their first Test series in Pakistan since 2005 and their first over these opponents outside of the UK in 22 years. It is also the first time England have ever won two Tests in an away series against Pakistan. They will look for a clean sweep in the third and final Test in Karachi, which begins on Saturday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/0F6B/production/_127974930_gettyimages-1448455757.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/849B/production/_127974933_gettyimages-1448467501.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/240/cpsprodpb/EEA8/production/_127969016_ollierobinson-olliepope.jpg

Pakistan v England: Ben Stokes' side deserve series win - Jonathan Agnew..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1E57/production/_127976770_gettyimages-1448468274.jpgEngland have won eight of nine Test matches under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/11D30/production/_127980037_gettyimages-1448469901.jpgThe last time England played away from home, I was deeply concerned about where they were heading. The series defeat by West Indies, sealed with a 10-wicket thumping in Grenada, was like a car crash. There was no coach and it was obvious Joe Root could not continue as captain. The 'red-ball reset' was a shambles. If you had told me then that nine months later England would have eight wins from nine Tests, including two in Pakistan, I would have said there was absolutely no chance. And yet, here we are in Multan, with England having earned as many wins in Pakistan in a week as they had in the previous 61 years. It is an incredible transformation. To be 2-0 up and have the series won is a huge achievement. No England team has ever won two Tests in an away series against Pakistan and their last victory against the same opponents outside of the UK came 22 years ago. In the intervening period, and including some matches played in the United Arab Emirates, some very talented England sides, captained by Michael Vaughan, Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook, have left with nothing.

Pakistan v England - 3rd Test: Rehan Ahmed could make debut in Karachi - Date: 17-21 December (5am)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/12FE9/production/_128010877_rehanahmed.jpgLeicestershire's Rehan Ahmed has only played three first-class matches
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/17D41/production/_128010679_rehanahmed.jpgEngland are considering handing a debut to 18-year-old leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed in the third Test against Pakistan. If Ahmed is selected in Karachi on Saturday he would be the youngest man to play a Test for England, beating a record held by Brian Close since 1949. England already have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and are looking for a historic clean sweep. "We've been thinking about it," said captain Ben Stokes. "Having a wrist-spinner is always exciting." Leicestershire's Ahmed, who was part of the England team that reached the Under-19 World Cup final, has only played three first-class matches. He was first named in the England Lions party for a training camp in the United Arab Emirates, then added to the full squad during a warm-up game in Abu Dhabi at the end of November. Ahmed has featured as a sub fielder during England's victories in Rawalpindi and Multan. England arrived in Karachi on Wednesday, but with most of the squad taking a rest day on Thursday, Stokes will not see conditions at the National Stadium until training on Friday. "We can't go into too much detail until we have had a look at the wicket," said Stokes. "We picked him in the squad not just because of his talent, but because we thought it would be a good opportunity to play if we thought it was necessary." Ahmed could replace all-rounder Will Jacks, or a fast bowler, depending on the conditions. England must also decide whether or not to recall wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, which would mean altering the balance of the team. If he plays, Ahmed will be aged 18 years and 126 days. Legendary former England captain Close was 18 years and 149 days when he played against New Zealand at Old Trafford more than seven decades ago. Ahmed would not be the youngest person to play a Test for England - left-arm spinner Holly Colvin was 15 years and 336 days when she played against Australia in 2005. Though chosen for his bowling, Ahmed considers himself more of a batter - he made a century batting at number five for Leicestershire in his third first-class match. "He loves cricket," said Stokes. "I'm struggling to work out what he is, whether he's a batter or a leg-spinner, which is I guess good, because it shows how much talent he's got. "It's about not getting too carried away with the potential that he has, because he is only young. You've still got to nurture talent, even how exciting it is." If Ahmed does play, he would be the first non-white man to feature in a Test for England since Stokes took charge nine matches ago. On Tuesday, former Yorkshire spinner Azeem Rafiq made his second appearance in front of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee and said "cricket is in denial" over racism. "I have always felt cricket is a very inclusive sport," said Stokes. "Certainly in my time in the England team, you have been selected on your skills as a cricketer first and foremost. "That still should be the way going forward regardless of your beliefs or what you look like. If you're good enough to represent this country, you're going to get picked. "Rehan could be an unbelievable example to set to younger kids who want to come up. They may have heard about what's happened in cricket recently, but he can be seen an example of 'no, we've got this 18-year-old, hopefully a potential superstar, why can't I be that?'."

Unusual grip he takes on the ball. Also, he appears to bowl while leaning over towards 9 o` clock. Most disconcerting for the facing batsman, I`d imagine.

Pakistan v England: Rehan Ahmed to become youngest MAN to play for England, breaking a 73yr old record.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/309A/production/_128024421_rehanahmed.jpgLeg-spinner Rehan Ahmed will become the youngest man to play Test cricket for England after being handed a debut in the third Test against Pakistan. The 18-year-old breaks the record of legendary Yorkshire batter Brian Close, which has stood since 1949. Ahmed and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes come into the side in Karachi in place of pace bowler James Anderson and all-rounder Will Jacks. England have already won the series and are looking for a 3-0 clean sweep. No visiting team has ever beaten Pakistan 3-0 in their country, while England have only ever earned three previous clean sweeps in away Test series of three matches or more. Leicestershire's Ahmed will be aged 18 years and 126 days when the Test begins on Saturday. Former captain Close was 18 years and 149 days when he played against New Zealand at Old Trafford 73 years ago. "I've been watching him closely, without letting him know I've been watching him closely," England captain Ben Stokes told BBC Sport. "It's a great opportunity to let Rehan go out and really express himself. There's not too much pressure to perform, just to have fun. "You only make your debut once, you can never make it again. If we can make him feel like he's had a ball of a time out there, and he walks off with wickets and runs, that would be great." Ahmed has been named in the England side despite leaving training early on Friday because he felt unwell. He will not be the youngest person to play a Test for England - left-arm spinner Holly Colvin was 15 years and 336 days when she played for the women's team against Australia in 2005. The Leicestershire man has played only three first-class matches, taking nine wickets at an average of 30. He was part of the England team that reached the final of the Under-19 World Cup this year and played for England Lions against the touring South Africans in the home summer. He was then named in the England Lions squad for a training camp in the United Arab Emirates and added to the full squad during a warm-up game in Abu Dhabi in November. Ahmed adds a second frontline spin-bowling option to the tourists' XI on a Karachi pitch that is expected to turn. He considers himself to be a batter and made a century batting at number five for Leicestershire against Derbyshire in his last first-class match in September. "It's very tough to tell what his biggest strength is, bat or ball," added Stokes. "He likes to show off with the bat, because he's got so many different shots. I'm very excited to see what he's got with the ball. "Our message to him is 'look to take wickets with the ball, smack it with the bat and in the field chase after it until it goes for four'."

with 2 "ducks" and a score of just 1 on the sheet, England take the lead as close nears, Brooks gets another ton [111] Pope out for 51, and with Wood currently on 35 and Foakes 62, an excellent stand between these two giving England a crucial lead in what could be a tight finish yet again in this series , makes for good viewing..... and just as Wood falls for 35!! the commentators curse.
England all out 354..... a tidy lead of 50, gives them a short burst of pace and spin before close of play, a wicket or two here would certainly be a big step toward a clean sweep

Well that was easy enough, England completed a historic 3-0 clean sweep over Pakistan inside 40 minutes on the fourth day of the final Test in Karachi. Ben Duckett 82 not out and Ben Stokes 35 not out, Abrar 2-78 - England win by 8 wickets. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/10F33/production/_128072496_gettyimages-1450509065.jpgEngland, on their first Test tour of Pakistan in 17 years, become the first visiting team to win three matches in a series in this country. It also caps a year in which England have undergone a remarkable transformation under captain Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum - this is their ninth win in 10 matches since the pair took charge. Attention will now turn to next summer, when England will attempt to regain the Ashes from Australia. Stokes' side play two Tests against New Zealand in February, then complete their Ashes preparations with a one-off match against Ireland in June. The white-ball team has limited-overs tours of South Africa and Bangladesh in the early part of next year. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/773F/production/_128072503_gettyimages-1450511950.jpgBefore this tour, England had managed only two Test wins away to Pakistan in 30 attempts across 61 years. They have now won three in three weeks. Not only that, they have secured their first series win over Pakistan outside of the UK for 22 years and ended a run of three successive away series defeats stretching back to the beginning of 2021. This is also only the fourth time England have taken a clean sweep in an away series of three Tests or more. What makes the achievement all the more remarkable - this is one of England's greatest ever away wins - is the turmoil they were in at the beginning of the year. When England were hammered in Hobart at the end of an Ashes humbling, then beaten in Grenada to tumble to a series defeat by West Indies, the idea they would win six of seven home Tests then win 3-0 in Pakistan was beyond fanciful. Yet, under the inspirational leadership of Stokes and McCullum, England are becoming one of the most feared Test sides in the world. Their form has come too late to reach next year's World Test Championship final, but the clash with Australia is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly anticipated Ashes series for some time. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/480/cpsprodpb/103DF/production/_128072566_gettyimages-1245739467.jpg

There are so many positives to take from this series win, and as far as I can see not a single negative. I'm beginning to look forward to the Ashes in the Summer 😀

Things certainly look more positive, but I still fear that on English pitches, Crawley will give catching practice to the Australian slip cordon, long before the shine has gone from the new ball.

I understand what you are saying, but he does have some good days as well. England have invested time in him and let's hope he irons out those technical faults he has. I did notice one negative from the Pakistan series. Joe Root. He had a pretty poor series. Then again it wasn't so long ago that Root was the mainstay of our total score! So we won 3-0 when Root didn't play well! In fact, that has also turned out to be another bonus.
