Interesting to note that since lunch a few balls have started to keep low.

Nice bit of variable bounce, for our bowlers to exploit. Even Ian Botham would have enjoyed himself out there.

410 runs in one day is pretty good going even for the modern game, and there are still 25 overs left in the day! Amazing.

It's carnage. Harry Brooke has just hit six 4's in one over ! If this scoring rate continues England will hit over 600 runs in one day!

500 up. Most runs ever scored on the 1st day of a Test. Wait until the Taliban catch up with the groundsman. His head and his body will occupy different post codes.

Shame it didn`t last the full 90 overs. Yes, with another 15 overs, the rate we were going at (6.74 rpo) we could have got another 100 runs. This is a day to remember, just pleased it was us that got those runs and not Australia or India.

Day 2 - England to declare on 701-9 and bowl Pakistan out for 377 & 299, with Anderson taking 10 match wickets...it just might happen you know.

It was like watching a T20 innings that lasted a day. The bowling figures are that of a T20 match. Quite incredible. I didn’t think it was possible to play that way over the first day of a test match. I try to avoid hyperbole or exaggeration but if England were to be successful in playing that way regularly then it really is a defining moment in test match, even cricket, history. It’s not often that you think you’ve watched something so special that it will change how cricket is played but today I think I did see something like that.

It’s not often that you think you’ve watched something so special that it will change how cricket is played but today I think I did see something like that. I think this is the way that Stokes sees Test cricket. Yesterday was a bit of a one-off, but he believes that the scoring rate can be higher than it normally is in Test cricket. When you are scoring quickly it put's pressure on the fielding side to stop the runs rather than setting the fielders to concentrate on getting the batsmen out. In some ways it may be a defining moment in Test cricket in the way the Sri Lankans changed the face of one-day cricket when their openers went blasting away from the start. and let's not forget, playing this way can bring rewards, but it will go wrong on other days.

England 657 all out (101 overs) Crawley 122, Duckett 107, Pope 108, Brook 153, Z.Mahmood 4-235
Pakistan 17-0 (6 overs)
Day 2 - Lunch
England added 151 runs to their overnight score before being bowled out for 657, their highest ever total in Asia.
Harry Brook, who began the day on 101, smashed 27 off one over to reach his 150 before eventually being dismissed for 153 off 116 balls.
Pakistan then survived a tricky pre-lunch spell to reach 17-0.
But with the pitch offering little for the bowlers, there could be a long few sessions ahead for England.

Day 3 - England 657 all out (101 overs) Crawley 122, Duckett 107, Pope 108, Brook 153, Z.Mahmood 4-235 Pakistan 499-7 (136 overs) Shafique 114, Imam 121, Babar 136, Jacks 3-132 Pakistan trail England by 158 runs with 3 wickets remaining. DAY 3 - CLOSE Pakistan v England: Tourists take charge in Rawalpindi.. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2DF7/production/_127876711_jacks.pngWill Jacks has bowled 33 overs in his debut Test so far, taking three crucial wickets England's determination and persistence was rewarded with crucial late wickets on the third day of the first Test against Pakistan. In back-breaking conditions on a lifeless pitch in Rawalpindi, the tourists looked set to be frustrated by a classy century from home captain Babar Azam. But when Babar slashed Will Jacks to point to depart for 136, James Anderson followed up by removing Mohammed Rizwan, before debutant Jacks had Naseem Shah caught at deep mid-wicket. That gave off-spinner Jacks 3-132 and put Pakistan on 499-7 at the close, still 158 behind. It was nothing more than England deserved on a day when they tried everything to conjure chances despite the minimal assistance on offer. Saturday began with Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq completing centuries, making this the first Test in history where each opener on both sides has made a hundred in the first innings. A maiden Test wicket for Jacks and two for Jack Leach left Pakistan 290-3 and gave England an opening. Then came Babar's brilliance and the late drama. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/E6C5/production/_127877095_stokes.jpgEngland captain Ben Stokes was rewarded for some innovative fields with four wickets late in the day ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15BF5/production/_127877098_babaar2.jpgBabar Azam now averages 88 in nine Tests in Pakistan

England declare at tea and have given Pakistan a carrot to chase of 343 runs to win... close of play sees them at 80 - 2 Babar is currently retired hurt with what could be a cracked finger, unable to hold his bat,, interesting day to follow with some real challenge from England to force the result their way,

Pakistan need 98 to win. 5 wickets in hand. Declaration may have been a tad early, but it certainly rescued the game from being a dull, sterile draw.
