I think this is all tedious speculation by some who do not have the where with all to do anything at all about the fiscal situation the club is in and has been in. Taking continuous digs at a man, or family, that has put more private equity than any other in the history of the club is pointless and embarrassing. I, personally, don't care about the rumours or opinions of those that have no vested financial interest in the club. That's not to say that I think the club is stable or being run in a sustainable fashion. I do not. But that is for the owners to sort out. If they do not, sooner rather than later, the cash will dry up and where we will end up then. In the meantime we can satisfy ourselves by bickering over who should play centre midfield. I understand we are in fundamental disagreement about this Oldie but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it. You seem to be retreating to the put up or shut up argument used by the SC and PC people which both of us abhorred during the Higgs era. During that time our constant theme was that Nick needed to be more open and transparent so the burden was shared rather than retreating into a shell surrounded by cohorts who only told him what he wanted to hear. Wael and his family have indeed put a huge amount of money into Rovers but too much of it has been wasted. I only joined this thread when KP mentioned my views on the training ground because the lack of forethought shown there is still plaguing Rovers and IMO is the cause of much of the waste. You say it is for the owners to sort out but after six years there are not many signs they are doing so. Don’t you think debating these issues is worthwhile when there is a chance that through reading fans opinions Wael might glean some useful ideas to help with his decision making ?

Then we had the Garner/Widdrington fiasco closely followed by the Tisdale/Widdrington farce. Then we got relegated. God knows how many millions were pi**ed up against the wall during that period. In my opinion that was largely down to an ineffective board of directors with an incoherent, unquantified, strategy. Arguing about the minutiae of asset management is relevant for the longer term, but when Rome is burning around you operationally and financially it most certainly is (what's the club's cash burn rate?) then it becomes an exercise in naval gazing, supplemented by a huge dollop of ego stroking.

Here's a bit of positive speculation you might like. We are all in agreement the present building is too small and this is very frustrating for JB in trying to manage his squad and support staff. The plans for enlargement were drawn up in 2020 and approved by the planners in November 2021. So, as a layman, this is what I should have seriously looked at doing. a) Before the plans were even submitted get some outline cost estimates to make sure what was being proposed was financially feasible. b) If it was financially feasible appoint a project manager and have contractors provide provisional tenders. c) After the plans were approved negotiate a final price and award the job to the selected contractor. d) Start the work at the earliest opportunity, during the 21/22 season whilst the building was still in use, by constructing the outer structure and roof first and using the vast amount of space at the rear of the building for storage and contractor activity so as not to affect the day to day work of the training ground staff. e) On the morning of D Day Monday June 6th, with the outer shell fully completed, take out the couple of sections of wall reconnect the services and decorate inside. f) On the afternoon of Monday June 6th pose for pictures with JB outside the building and take the acclaim for a good job well done. Now Womble will probably come along and explain why this would not be possible or suggest how it could work with changes to the plan but what do you think ? Agree that that would be a good idea, perhaps it’s already been floated too, but in real time, at the time of PP success, we had to sack our CEO, decided to leave, delete as you believe and TG came in. I’ve no idea what TG has had to sort out since or even if it’s within his remit to handle now, but we had a promotion to win which was far more important IMO. JB has given no outwards indication he’s so unhappy at the quarters it’s totally unmanageable. In fact when I was there a few months back sorting a car out for someone, I chatted to Alex Mangan who was waxing lyrical about the place and what’s been accomplished in a short period. I don’t think Mangs and JBs opinion would be too far apart. Not really sure how far to go with it ITB because although I appreciate you have acknowledged this could be a good idea I’m also aware that these kind of posts irritate a lot of Gasheads and I often come across as a know it all. But this is an example of forethought in action and it is a practical one which is is easily understood so I’ll try. If you really think the management are happy with the building as it is then that’s the end of the discussion. But all the indications are that the building needs to be enlarged otherwise why go to the trouble of drawing up plans and gaining planning permission. If you read my post again you’ll see I’m suggesting the preparation work and tendering should have been done by a project manager in the period between the plans being submitted and approved. That way everything is in place so the button can be pressed soon after the permission is granted. And by organizing it as a project with everything properly formatted then if personnel change, as happened with Martyn Starnes, the project carries on under the new management. This is how, at one point, we were supposed to be organizing the football side of the club with a structure which remained in place even as people came and went. To me this was a sensible way of working and I was sorry to see it abandoned without being given a chance to work. The example shows how with forethought and planning the club house could have been enlarged during the last six months with minimal disruption so the squad and coaching team could have started the season with better facilities and the fans would have seen tangible progress at the training ground. The knock on effect of this from Wael’s point of view would have been that he could have pointed to the club house enlargement as a small but important forward step and used it to deflect criticism in other areas. Firstly he could say to JB “we have invested in the facilities as we said we would, you had a league 1 budget last season and now we are back in league 1 that budget will remain in place until the end of the year when we will assess the position together”. Secondly he could say to the fans “ I understand how important a new stadium is but we have to take things step by step. We now have one more step to take at the training ground which is fulfilling the planning conditions and after we’ve done that we’ll turn our full attention to the stadium and keep you informed of our progress”. I know this may sound like an ego trip to some but it really isn’t and I’m only putting it forward as a subject for discussion because if forethought and planning are seen to be better than blundering in and then looking for scapegoats it will help put Rovers on the right track to achieve long term success.

Great win saturday! What a fantastically committed group of players we have, and we play some really good football! Bouncebackability too! Evans 3 year contract, Collins on fire, 3 year contract too, what great business. Gordon looked decent - top stuff!
Anyone care, or are they more interested in the recruitment process for the Assistant chef at the Mem?

Agree that that would be a good idea, perhaps it’s already been floated too, but in real time, at the time of PP success, we had to sack our CEO, decided to leave, delete as you believe and TG came in. Anyone care, or are they more interested in the recruitment process for the Assistant chef at the Mem? Yes. Bouncebackability is a great word to describe us since Christmas. It must have been a hard week with everything that happened, so to win 4-0 away from home sums us up. After the loss at Oldham earlier, the dropped home points v Exeter and FGR in April and the home loss last week always seem to provoke a reaction from us. Well done all. UTG!

Posts like this are actually posts I agree with Swiss. They aren’t ego trippy but based on experience. My experience of working with lots of individuals from parts of the Arab world on various projects, (Syria, Qatar, Jordan, Dubai to name a few) is that they all share similar familiar traits. They are extremely private people who do not let anything out, or shall I say, won’t communicate what they want to do outside of their trusted network. This makes them come across a touch ostrich like and then impulsive when they do say or do something when in reality, they aren’t, it’s just the way they do things. They are also never in a rush to do anything and then want everything done yesterday when they have bought into the idea or have decided to move forward. It sounds awfully stereotypical, but that really is my experience of them in business. That said, bar one, I have always found them to be incredibly honourable people, very well educated and tenacious, extremely kind and hospitable as well as open to benefiting from others experiences.

If you don't like my answers please remember that you've brought these things up and I'm simply responding. Hani was listed in the 2020 accounts as the person providing assurances of continued financial support but we were told this was a mistake which would be corrected in the 2021 accounts. When his name appeared again in the 2021 accounts the Company Secretaries didn't respond to my requests for clarification but Tom Gorringe told Bath Gas it was a mistake again and would be corrected. It hasn't been corrected but strangely enough Sheffield Wednesday also made a mistake in the wording of their accounts and after it was pointed out they duly filed an amended set with Companies House proving that it is possible. If the auditors believe that Hani is in control of the funding which goes into Dwane Sports and then flows through to Rovers and this is why he is named then there is no problem with that. But just be up front about it. I'm afraid the "covenant" falls into the same category as the "12 stadium experts" and the "brand new first team complex with community facilities". So do the accounts for the last 2 filed years still have Hani as the person providing continued financial support? It's quite important to know who is ultimately running the Club isn't it? Isn't it? 1. OK - the name is changed (Bathgas said Tom Gorringe would effect that change). No problems, I'll shut up. (Not before time I hear you cry). Or, 2. The name appearing is correct, therefore there has been a material inaccuracy in what supporters are being told.

But we aren’t demolishing what we have built, that’s a “fact” from the pirog and Swiss show. (One for contradiction to add to his list). According to the plans we are just taking out a couple of sections of 1.25 meter wall to accommodate door ways in 3 places on each side of the T shape so the building becomes a square shape. It’s so bread and butter for builders they would likely have it done in a morning. When is the best time to do something like that, in season when the quarters are in use or close season when they aren’t? Well from an equally layman's point of view, I can give it a go. a) to c) sound perfectly reasonable. This year's close season was shorter than usual because of the early start owing to the world cup which would affect e) to f). I agree with part of d), it should be quite possible to carry on construction with the pitches in use - they were after all being used before the clubhouse was finished. So at the risk of boring everyone to tears, we have the original layout for the rugby clubhouse. I should point out that the inside of the clubhouse does not look like this, Rovers did not simply copy the internal layout, or indeed the materials for the external appearance, which unlike the internal changes, they had to obtain planning permission for. We have no proper drawing for the present layout. The best we have is a blurry screenshot of Wael's phone. It's impossible to be sure, but I think the rooms on the right of the vertical corridor in the image are the kitchen (next to the lounge), a changing room, and two rooms one of which may be the laundry room. This is where things are more complicated and rule out steps d) and e) on a really short timescale. All the uses on the right hand side of the corridor have changed in the extended clubhouse. Kitchen equipment etc will have to be moved and what I assume are internal stud walls, will have to be rearranged/inserted. I think this will require several weeks at least, where the building isn't full of footballers. As Swiss suggests, probably walls, roofs etc will be erected with the site in use. The last bit will take rather longer than a day, although I admire the optimism. The recently approved landscaping scheme, gives the completion date for phase 1 (which is shown including the extended clubhouse) as 2023. On that basis we might expect work to start sometime in the New Year.

If I was Wael, I would be far ruder than he has been. Why would he take any notice of us given that we are not aware of the information that is on his desk nor the priorities against which he has made his decisions? What "useful" ideas have been expressed on here? Maybe I missed them but I have not read any. You claim so much money has been "wasted". I look back at the absolute farce that engulfed the club when we had people like Starnes, Hammer and Masters on the board and certainly from my seat I look on and think they should have been sacked much earlier. Under which owner did ALL of those people get their jobs and who put Garner in, when we were in 4th spot with a vision of improving and selling on youth ? No need to answer. What were the debts before Wael came and then what were they after ? Rhetorical so no need to reply. The buck stops at the top IMO

Wael wiped out most of the debt in 2020 but it was up to £4.5 million again by June 2021 and could be up to £10 million by the end of this year. Wael has said he will capitalise a further £3.6 million which is good but let's not pretend Rovers are debt free. The perception amongst Gasheads is that we should be grateful to Wael for keeping us afloat through the pandemic because in his open letter of April 1st he told us "the net cost of the pandemic will surpass £3 million". Most of us thought this meant that there would be an extra £3 million on top of the £3 million annual losses we had come to expect. That is why, following his statement, I posted that I thought losses for 2021 could be in the £4 - 5 million range because we at least had the JCH transfer proceeds as a partial offset. But it didn't happen like that. The trading loss for 2021 was only £500K more than in 2020 and with the incoming JCH money the net result was that we were £1 million better off than in 2020. In fact during 2021 Dwane Sports loaned less to Rovers than they had in 2020. So the notion that we were facing the gravest crisis in the club's history and that Wael did something extra special to keep us afloat through the pandemic is a myth. I'm afraid the "covenant" falls into the same category as the "12 stadium experts" and the "brand new first team complex with community facilities". Hi Swiss - Where can I find in the company accounts where Hani is named as providing continued financial support? Is this still indeed the case? If it's a mistake, no problema. Any idea when we can expect it to be rectified Bath Gas ?
