Every time Ollie Watkins reaches scoring targets at Villa ,Exeter get a sizeable bonus according to the press which has gone a long way to extending their superb training complex.Perhaps if we sell Collins we could add a clause as we have a history of selling strikers too cheaply. Which strikers were sold too cheaply?

Which strikers were sold too cheaply? Cureton, Lambert, and Taylor just off of the top of my head. How could Robert’s go for 2 mill yet cureton go for 250K, that still does my head in.

To be fair, since we been at the Mem we haven’t done too bad on striker transfers, Barry Hayles & Jason Roberts both went for £3m, Nathan Ellington & Ricky Lambert both went for £1m+ . It’s probably only Taylor who went cheaply & we all know the reasons for that. Bit I do agree we need to get the best deal possible if Aaron does move on & his award last night should help in negotiations.

I remember Jamie Cureton scoring v Bournemouth in the 1st game of the 2000/01 season and then he was gone in a puff of smoke...
Ian Holloway was fuming at this and probably was a factor in him leaving in January 2001, Rovers were relegated at the end of that season.
IMO most of our strikers have gone for decent returns apart from Jamie Cureton and Matty Taylor.
Since Geoff Bradford in the 1952 season through to the 1956 season, only Matty Taylor has been our top scorer for 3 consecutive seasons. (Of course his seasons were in the Conference Prem, L2 & L1..but you still have to score goals whatever level is played)

Tom Lockyer scored tonight in Luton's win to keep them third.Pity we didn't persuade him to sign a contract to get a fee when he left.

Marcus Stewart went to Huddersfield Town for £1.2m after scoring 57 goals in 171 games for BRFC.
His total career stats are Played 783 games and scoring 254 goals.
Odd fact: Marcus Stewart retired from professional football in April 2011, his final appearance being as a substitute for Exeter in a 2–0 win against Bristol Rovers.

Exclusive: Aaron Collins' Bristol Rovers future in doubt as Bolton and Wrexham pursue forward..By Daniel Hargraves.
Aaron Collins has been left out of today's matchday squad to face Oxford United as transfer interest in the Bristol Rovers forward grows.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9061253.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1940743428.jpgAaron Collins has not been included in Bristol Rovers' matchday squad for this afternoon's League One encounter against Oxford United, as it looks increasingly likely that the forward may well be sold before Thursday's transfer deadline. Collins, whose current deal expires next summer, has been subject to interest from a number of EFL clubs as Bristol Live understands Charlton Athletic and League Two promotion chasers Wrexham made enquiries earlier this month, while Bolton Wanderers are now also in the race to sign the 26-year-old. The Welshman remains one of Rovers' most valuable assets as well as being one of the club's highest earners and therefore represents an opportunity to raise funds in the transfer market, while also providing a degree of flexibility with the wage bill as manager Matt Taylor looks to make further additions next week. Collins has struggled to replicate his outstanding form from last season which saw him register 16 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances in League One. However, despite scoring just three league goals, with the last coming in the reverse fixture at Oxford United on October 7, he still remains one of the league's brightest creative players, leading the assist table with nine. He therefore still retains significant market value but his future at the club appears to be in doubt with his form struggling to pick back up under Taylor. As the Gas manager has searched for increased contribution in the final third from his forwards bar in-form striker Chris Martin, who has scored Rovers' last six league goals, the 26-year-old has been unable to make a consistent impact since Taylor's arrival last month. Collins has started three of the Pirates' six matches with appearances from the bench often being relatively brief. When asked about whether he envisaged potential outgoings before Thursday's transfer deadline ahead of this afternoon's game, Taylor said: "There’s always a potential if the right offer comes in, not just in terms of transfer fees but loans as well for anyone who’s not getting the game time they want or feel they deserve. "We have to be open in terms of that. But the squad is quite thin all of a sudden which is strange to say because I came into the club and it was a big and deep squad. We just wanted a valuable contribution on the pitch. "So there’s always room for manoeuvre in the next week or so but I’ve said all along that the reason I took the job was because of the quality in the squad and I always want to look within the building before looking elsewhere." The Rovers manager was asked specifically about the Welshman's future and whether there had been any interest after last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Blackpool, in which he was left out of the starting line-up. "Not that I’m aware of," Taylor said. "He would be the first person to know if we were to get something to come into us. "Like I say, with Chris Martin’s form almost stealing the limelight, a few are going unnoticed but probably for the wrong reasons. We should be talking about more than just Chrissy Martin being a goal threat." "The team selection tells you a bit of a story," Taylor added, after Collins hadn't started that particular game. "I’m searching for improvement from that second centre-forward. They always seem to get chances in every game whether it’s Jevani Brown, Azza, LT today. We’re not converting. "If we get the improved outcome and contribution from that position then we will be a much better team off the back of it. But there were other aspects of our game that we just need to value a bit more."

Good luck to him if he chooses to move on. I always enjoyed his contributions and persona.
It feels like a good time to go for him to freshen up his career, and for us to lend opportunity out to others.
As ever, he'll leave with my blessings to anywhere bar one place.....

This will be a win win win for all parties. I hope we get a sell-on in the transfer.
Hoping we have an incoming forward. Preferably a loan option with a right to buy

Preferably a loan option with a right to buy I noticed after I shared it - that account is very dubious so I doubt the rumour is true. But AC is headed out the door and let’s hope the deal makes sense for all parties!

One thing not quite right in this Tweet is that AC asked not to be considered for the game, rather than the wording here that he had be left out of the squad.
