You'll be getting grief from some on here for linking to Alex Jones. Notice he's not taking up this glorious offer from the Motherland of Freedom!! Love some of the amazing responses. Are you taking Putin up on his offer Nobby, better than living under a corrupt Labour Government buddy! Well, I shan`t be taking Putin up on his offer. I don`t care if this country is on the brink of making homosexuality compulsory, it`s still preferable to being shot in some town that you can`t even pronounce. Just about.

So difficult to understand whats happening in Ukraine but its been reported that the Ukes are evacuating Pokrovsk (?) in the Donbas, its 40 _ kms from the front but apparently the Russians have been steadily advancing for weeks so maybe the Ukes expect a breakthrough ? Maybe this explains the Uke incursion into Russia, hoping that Russian troops would be pulled away from Donbas front ?
Lavrov saying that there will be no peace talks whilst the Ukes are on Russian territory, that sounds like a good excuse for Russia not to take part in talks.

Indeed matey, I caught up with a Gashead friend the other night in Bristol, and we probably talked absolute rubbish for 3 hours, but it was an wonderful joy over a few pints. Life is very short. Sometimes we have to accept that there is little we can do about the bad stuff, just try our best with the good stuff, and crack on with enjoying the simple things in life like friendship, laughing, family, mates, the Gas and a few pints! Keep smiling buddy and keep making us smile too! Have a great day! PS as we are on this thread, the other night I stayed in the Doubletree near St Mary Redcliffe, that beautiful building, and the receptionist was Ukrainian. Next week she is going back to Ukraine to see her parents. She knows that she will be taking a risk as they are regularly bombed but misses her family so much. And it's meeting people like that that make me appreciate life!

Russia fired a huge amount of missiles and drones into Ukraine yesterday and apparently a Patriot missile launcher was destroyed last week, with the Israelis and the Ukes using Patriots more often the factories making the missiles must be working flat out.
Also reports of Belorussian troops massing on the border with Ukraine,a few days after Belorussia announced closer links to China....

Elderly woman's killer released for second time to fight in Ukraine..Will Vernon, Live reporterA Russian murderer who was released from prison to fight in the war in Ukraine, only to then kill an elderly woman, has been released a second time to return to the front, according to the woman's relatives. "Grandma’s killer has escaped punishment for his crime - again - and has gone to fight in the war," Anna Pekareva, the granddaughter of Yulia Byuskikh, tells the BBC. In 2022, Ivan Rossomakhin was released from prison, where he was serving a 14-year prison sentence for murder, to join the Wagner mercenary group. He was later allowed to return home to the district of Vyatskiye Polyany in Russia’s Kirov Region. There, he attacked and killed 85-year-old Yulia in her own house. In April this year, 29-year-old Rossomakhin was found guilty of Yulia’s rape and murder and sentenced to 22 years in a high-security prison, later increased to 23 years. But Anna says the prison governor has now notified the family that Rossomakhin was released on 19th August - just one week after the start of his sentence. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg58mj7mzrdo

Reports Ukraine has moved into Belgorod region now.
Wonder if they'll repeat their successes, push towards the natural defences and create a buffer.
Good luck to them.

Whether the reports can be believed or not but the Russians are still gaining ground in Donetsk and the fall of Prokovsk is imminent, whether that will make the east front crumble who knows ? but the uke attacks into Russia dont seem to have resulted in Russia moving troops from Donetsk.

It is my opinion that this is a deliberate defensive ploy of the Ukes. They have prepared defensive positions, and these are layered in depth so they move back at any time into previously prepared defensive positions. There is little point in standing toe-to-toe with the Russians for any length of time. Eventually the Russian Arty will prevail, so give resistance, inflict casualties on the Russians, then fall back onto the next prepared defensive position. Yes, you give ground slowly, but you make the opposition pay a very heavy price for relatively little gain. This also allows the Ukes to rotate units at the front easily.

You may well be correct but if thats the case how long before they have moved back so far that Russia have whole Donbas which is what they seemed to want in the first place. As I said its so difficult to judge what is actually happening because there is so much misinformation but you made a point a while back about logistics, this Uke incursion into Russia must be a problem logistically, are the Russians just letting them advance up a road to nowhere ? they dont seem to be pulling troops away from Donetsk front. I agree that Russian artillery directed by drones is a big problem for the Ukes but I am not sure about the Ukes being able to take units away from the front, their manpower levels must be getting critical by now.

BBC have an article concerning Ukrainian manpower,I have been banging on about this for a while, one of the pictures shows older Uke recruits in their '40s and 50s' at a training ground, all I can say is that they must have had bloody hard paper round because they look much older.
Also a lot of concern about a salient near Pokrovsk where a lot of Ukes are in danger of being cut off in a pincer move by thousands of Russian troops, the Ukes seem to be outnumbered on that front which is a result of the incursion into Russia, they dont have the manpower for both operations and the Russians havent withdrawn troops from Donbas.... I did read one report about ex Wagner troops being moved from Africa so thats good news for the islamic insurgents there.
