I think that he wants a long war (and according to the BBC the"experts" are saying so too...now !). A cease fire wont interest him at the moment because. Ukraine cant join NATO whilst the war continues. Western sanctions are damaging Western economies. Lots of countries are supporting Russia with armaments, and Russia is probably having a sphere of influence much bigger than before the war. Western unity is fraying more as time goes on....and they knew that it would. Russia has become a big player in Africa, the effect of this will not be good for the West. Russia is gradually eroding Ukrainian manpower. As I said the West committed to helping Ukraine and they cant stop now,not morally anyway...the EU need to pay up. With Russia now having a wartime economy I expect that there will be an arms race,so we can all prepare for higher taxes to get our defence force up together. I agree on all points. It put a chill down me when I saw Putin saying, very clearly, that if article 5 is signed and Ukraine becomes a member of NATO that he would use the nuclear option. I really believe him too. He was unequivocal in this Ukraine cannot become a member of NATO while it is fighting a war. It is just not possible.

It would be like NATO making a declaration of war, with Russia.

Macron has said that European soldiers could be sent to fight in Ukraine, other European leaders saying that they wont be sending anyone. Putin has repeatedly said that if European soldiers do go to Ukraine that Russia will take it as an attack by NATO.
A pity that people like Macron and Cameron and all the other warmongers dont start an International Brigade and go off to fight,of course they have no intention of putting themselves in harms way just like all these Gaza protesters.

Macron is a posturing fool. I always have thought that he is an arrogant, mincing little f@rt,he was trying to beef himself up with his pronouncement about troops to Ukraine but its backfired badly as leaders of NATO countries soon came out and said that they wont send troops. Of course Macron has been in favour of an EU army, maybe he will push for it even more after his rebuff ? The West is in a poor state leadership wise, Biden the leader of the Western World a shuffling spluttering embarrassment ,Macron who seems to see himself as some kind of Charlemagne, Scholz, Sunak von der Leyen and most of the rest hopeless lightweight non entities. No wonder a KGB trained thug like Putin has fancied his chances against them, aided by Ladarov they have played a blinder and gained in influence around the World .

Russia claim to have shot down 38 drones over Crimea, following attacks on the annexed Ukrainian state, but failed to state how many they didn't!! Explosions were heard near oil refinery depot's and various other places, the illegal occupiers closed operations to the Kersch road bridge as a matter of security....in the previous 10 or 12 days Ukraine have claimed to have shot down 10 Russian fighter jets, there's some expensive hardware down the pan,...🤭 the Onslaught of Avdiivka is said to have claimed on average 934 Russian casualties daily in the month leading up to the capture of the Town ... pointless exercise still ,and Spewtin don't G a f!!

Not being reported on mainstream news from what I have seen but over the last couple of weeks I have seen videos of knocked out Abrams tanks including a combat engineer version, once they lose a track to a mine all tanks are vulnerable.

Russia has spied on a German military intelligence meeting (heads should roll !) where it was mentioned that British servicemen are in Ukraine... This is my take on what happened. Someone (British, French US?) were aware that the Germans were using unencrypted video channels for sensitive meetings. The Germans were probably warned about this, but they continued. Therefore, they were fed useless information. This is highlighted by the fact the German commander told the others in the meeting that the British were moving Storm Shadow missiles in the back of a Ridgeway and the French were moving theirs in the back of Audi A7's. Now, these missiles are about 5m in length, and their storage boxes are obviously even bigger. There is no way on earth they would fit in the back of either a Ridgeway or an Audi A7! However, it has made the Germans look stupid and I would now imagine they will stop using unencrypted video channels for sensitive meetings. In the intelligence world if someone ignores you then you sometimes have to apply a little Chinese burn

Primarily because of the news hugging fracas in Gaza... Ukraine has taken a back seat by most media outlets.. Something that has a possibly more harmful outcome here than the outcome of the Gaza conflict

However, the Palestinians are using those hostages, and their own population, as weapons in this conflict.

I wonder how many of the hostages are still alive ?...there are quite a few small militant groups in Gaza besides Hamas,if those groups took any hostages would Hamas even know ?

I doubt many are alive, and those that are will probably have harrowing stories to tell of their imprisonment if they are ever released, which I'm sure the Palestinians will not allow to happen. The Palestinians could end it all by releasing the hostages, but they either won't or can't. The Israelis know this which is why they will not stop, and who can blame them.

I very much doubt it How about the people injured in the 2005 bombings or the Manchester arena atrocity ? they are still suffering but there are no follow up stories in the news now. BLM activist Sasha Johnson shot in the head and terribly wounded, still alive as far as I am aware but its almost as if she had her 'quota' of news space and its time to move on. Gaza will drop down the news as Ukraine has done, US election is a headline grabber now, the EU elections could be too, the stories move on the public have a limited attention span and get bored quickly.
