I think people should just stop going to games, let the club go into administration and form a pheonix club owned by the fans. Surely the fans ARE bristol rovers, so why not have ourselves running the club? People will say it cant be done, its not easy, blah blah, but if afc wimbledon did it, why cant we? With the right advice, expertise etc. There cant be anything special about them that the gas fan base doesnt have. Id put my own money into a club that actually gives a damn about its fans, and ok i dont have lots of money but im sure if we all chipped it we'd be able to get something going. It could be run totally democratically so we all can actually influence and decide how to club is run. Why not i say? Is brfc it's fantatstic group of fans, or is it just the toy of a few millionaire businessmen who wouldnt pi** on us plebs if we were on fire. Why should we pay to watch our club humiliated when we could be the club?

The harsh reality is that the club is bust already, it is only the willingness of current shareholders to underwrite the fiscal losses that stops the inevitable.
Once fans get to grips with this reality then maybe, juet maybe, we can move on.
Just my understanding of the published accounts

I have a lot of admiration for AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester who have both built clubs from scratch. If we were ever to become a fan owned club, I would hope we would follow FCUM's structure.

F.C. United is an Industrial and provident society. Membership is obtained by paying an annual fee of £12 to the club (£3 for children) but each member receives only one share in the club and is entitled to a single vote at meetings, regardless of the amount donated. The board consists of 11 members who are elected by the members of the club. The club has two full-time employee positions: Andy Walsh as chief executive and Lindsey Howard as club secretary. Andy Walsh was heavily involved in the club's formation.[92]
The club's manifesto includes the following core principles:
The Board will be democratically elected by its members

Hereford are going down the pan for a measly £300,000, Rovers carry far more debt than that. £ £300,000 is immediate debt for the Bulls, about £ 1,000,000 overall is outstanding.
Rovers and many other clubs may well find themselves in the same position.

Hereford are going down the pan for a measly £300,000, Rovers carry far more debt than that. £ £300,000 is immediate debt for the Bulls, about £ 1,000,000 overall is outstanding. Rovers and many other clubs may well find themselves in the same position. To use some well worn quotes - people need to be careful what they wish for, as you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. |

Are you angry enough, passionate enough and willing to stand up and be counted? I think you know Ted Strung Out, who was influential in founding BRISA. Couldn't you offer your services to him? Perhaps you're apathetic, too? None of this is meant to be in any way a dig because I think the time for change at BRFC has long gone, if that time ever came along in the first place. At one time, we had over 1000 paid up members of the Share Scheme before it fell into disrepute. It wasn't enough but BRISA would die for those numbers now. |

This isn't about 3 games FFS, it's about years and years of incompetence, ineptitude and disgraceful mismanagement from top to bottom. We're £7mil+ in debt, sit 19th in non-league - 5th f**king tier - our worst position for 90+ years, have a board that treats it's fanbase with utter contempt and a fractured fanbase. Why future is there for the club in it's current guise, really? |

This might sound like it but my post is not in anyway intended to be a criticism of BRISA. I think the principles on which it stands are good, they are prepared reluctantly to put their heads above the proverbial parapet but they need some experienced heads to guide/help them. I think what BRISA could actually do with is some leaders who can speak with authority, can show some leadership and have the time, capacity and experience to run it to avoid the pitfalls that are obviously going to come their way. BRISA is in it's early infancy, it's not trying to fund raise to save the club from insolvency (not yet anyway) but needs willing leaders not reluctant ones. |

Sorry - I know a fair few Hereford fans who are desperate for liquidation and a rebuild rather than let the scum who bought them for £2 simply steal the only assets they have (leaseholld stands at Edgar st) and take the development uplift. They are protesting peacefully and trying to persuade fans not to pay to watch the team. The fan base at Hereford will be there whether or not this ex-con still stays involved - the fans are the life blood of any team and the vast majority of us will support Rovers long after the incumbents have moved on to different projects. Appreciate ours is a different situation but we shouldn't underestimate the value of our huge fan base - and should stop blaming the fans for the inadequacies on the pitch. |
