Those that were allowed to be there,I imagine would say the 5th tier promotion side were better than our 4th tier relegation side.No great surprise I suppose. Today's team v DCs 5th tier Play Off Winners might be a closer contest, although again I think most would go for the Wembley winners.

And of course that non league side was so good that when we played in League 1 two years later in the January when we hammered Northampton and beat Swindon on consecutive Saturdays I seem to remember 9 out of 11 of the players were from our non league days. It wasn’t always as many but was usually 7 or 8 in that season.
Pop, you may be glad you missed it but I feel very lucky to have seen it . Did more away games that season than any since. I get why many gasheads might not have enjoyed it but, unfortunately, I’ve long since accepted that whilst football and many of our rivals have moved forward and developed we haven’t and we seem stuck in a kind of time warp. And because of that I’ve long accepted that despite all the words we seem to get from successive owners none have been able to turn potential into actual growth. I remain ever hopeful! But I loved that non league season (although perhaps I wouldn’t have had Grimsby won!).

UTG, yes, it was in many ways great fun though the football wasn't great, the refereeing was awful, and some of the pitches even worse a bit like New York for me - happy to have been there, wouldn't want to live there

I certainly don’t want to do it again! Last time I was confident from September onwards that we’d get out of it. I’m not sure that I’d be that confident that we’d get out the next time. UTG!

We are too fixated with preference of kids from Premier clubs, rather than the hard graft non league happy with a professional contract. The season of travelling in non league was at times, charming. Instead of police, barking snarling dogs, horses that obstruct your right of way and establishments weren't welcome in, were largely welcomed wherever we went. Often sat or stood with home fans, publicans and club owners generally welcomed us. It was like a breath of fresh air sometimes being greeted with a smile instead of a snarl... There was an odd occasion, but hey there's always one. I'm glad to have experienced it. Very humbling. And unless we kick the right @ss, we'll be visiting it again and all the hard work DC and GC done, would have been for nothing..

You only have to look at the current National League table to see how tight it is and though Grimsby look like they are in the" mental state" of having been there no too long ago and are not going to get embroiled in a situation they were in last time, Champions there foe me,It's the amount of former league clubs that are vying for 2 and 3 rd place Wrexham had a crowd of over 9000 in their last home game such is the momentum being built by new ownership and big money, that is where the problem would lie IF relegation were the outcome of this season. So many former league clubs almost creating a L3 of fierce competition

I enjoyed the one season in NL but I wouldn’t like to stay there again

Well as we are all giving our opinions, I was embarrassed that the club that I had loved all my life had become a non league club. When I read people were getting over excited that we had more fans than Woking at a game I finally realised that investing time and money into trying to get BRFC to be the best it possibly could had been a waste of time. I think Joey B***** might have done us a favour relagating us back to the basement, it appears we are one step closer to the promised land. UTG.
