For crying out loud. I get the sense that some people would refuse to believe that their arse was on fire despite a burning sensation in their nether regions, clouds of acrid smoke, and all passers by saying ' 'scuse me, but your arse is on fire', presumably on the basis that they hadn't received acceptably worded notification on Fire Service headed notepaper - and that they didn't want to believe it. The only bits of clear unambiguous information in all of this is from documents submitted (and therefore subject to strict rules and entered in the public domain) for the planning permissions and court submissions - including the JR and the writ. The writ was all about a claim against Sainsbury's for not progressing things toward fulfilment of the contract and claimed, in support of that, that they had 'admitted' that they didn't intend continuing with the scheme. It gave dates and named names of the people involved. That, incidentally, told a very different story about how things were going to what Mr Higgs had been telling us. That possible dent in his credibility has been shadowed by talk of i-dotting and t-crossing ahead of work starting by the end of May, the end of the summer, the end of the year, and (at last mention) the end of March - none of it with any explanation about why it's never any closer than before or why the latest date might have any more substance than the previous ones. Beyond that, it's speculation. What started this particular thread was another announcement from the retail sector showing that there is still no wavering in the sense that big stores are as out of fashion and favour as a ra ra skirt. Yet people try to convince themselves that that seemingly now universal rule does not apply to BS7 and surely that would be a gold mine (not withstanding that Sainsbury's have told the club they don't want to progress the scheme). 'The contract is watertight (because the man still crossing Is and dotting Ts says so) and we have brilliant lawyers from 'That London' to prove it' say some. So do Sainsbury's. 'They're still building roads near the UWE site' say others. The whole area is being developed. The roads go past the site to elsewhere. The site will not vanish without a football stadium on it, nor will the need for roads past it. It's clutching at straws. All is not tickety boo. If it were, work would have started nine months ago. The only questions are how long this is going to be dragged out, how well we do out of the termination of the contract, and what we do next. We don't know about the termination clauses, because the only parts of the contract that we've seen are those included in the writ, but the idea that we've completely outfoxed Sainsbury's in a land deal strike me as blindly optimistic. Quite why we can't be told some of this by the club is a mystery, but so is a lot to do with BRFC (including why the hell it couldn't maintain league status but that's another story) but let's at least not fall for bullcrap and deny the bleeding obvious. Very thought provoking and perhaps those most honest response on the UWE subject I've read , just wondering if there is any truths regarding other investment opportunities ? Hope so because I'm still nursing that kick up the b@llocks administered by Sainsburys and need some sort of optimism to heal the bruising

It must be The resurrection , as other than LDV no other names have been mentioned as potential signings and I can't imagine that other players names wouldn't have been leaked already .

As someone from TRASH is probably reading this we don't want them to know they have another 4 weeks before they have to submit their appeal because the committe clerk submitted incorrect papers to the Planning Committee so has to go through the planning process again...... That is C@ntish but in a typical Rovers luck kind of way

you never know, he might surprise you! Why wouldn't he go to Newport, they're doing pretty well at the moment and with their Bristolian born multimillion lottery winning Director (damn you ) financially supporting them he might be tempted to improve their squad with a decent player or two to improve their chances of going up. [b is he Rovers?

I think / hope that the 21st feb will define our season and we hopefully will top the table at that point , I've looked at ours and barnets fixtures between now and then and both have tricky fixtures but hopefully we will be in pole by then and kick on in the last 8

Have I missed something there because I can't quite see how that post is absolutely stupid mate? "we have no realistic expectation to win promotion." 2nd in the league, just 6 points off automatic promotion, undefeated in 14?games, lost 1 in 26?games. About 10 points clear of 6th place, yet he posts we have no realistic expectations to win promotion. I very much expect us to win promotion. So IMO! it's a absolutely stupid post. I stand to be corrected it is an absolute stupid post , I misread the post , sorry

...we have no realistic expectation to win promotion. Some may expect to be in play offs at most, but in real terms anything can happen. If we make significant signings before the next match, our expectation level may change and hence, our outlook. And subsequently, the levels of patience will change too. I just hope whomever comes in is given time and understanding? Because it isn't until now (January) we can appreciate how strong a team we have under pressure at this level.. With hindsight and hopefully foresight we can look up.. What an absolute stupid post. It's been a while since I last saw one as stupid on here. Have I missed something there because I can't quite see how that post is absolutely stupid mate?

Can't believe it ain't all ticket especially as away end holds a 1000 and the estimates are that we will take 1200 plus Once you have been then you will understand. The away end is a loose term and I'm sure the area you need will be extended to fit you all in. I think we've outnumbered the home fans in most of our away games this season , Woking next

If I was Chairman...........I would be brave now and pay off Mr D C and get Gary Johnson in next week. Give him the funds to bring in at least 4 players and we would be as quaranteed as we ever could be of getting promotion. Also we would have a good team for div 2 next year. Keep DC and we will keep struggling with players who simply are not good enough and with a manager who simply is unable to bring in the quality players we need. Even if we did somehow get up with DC this squad is nowhere near good enough to do anything other than struggle in league 2. Sorry rose tinters if the truth hurts. UTG. Have you taken a whack on the head? Unbelievable, got to be wind up right? Comic

Will be very surprised if we only got 7053 as that's only about 100 or so more than we got Sunday , but New Years day footy usually pulls more fans in and with our recent form and the fact that Torquay will bring more than Macclesfield I'd say it was a foregone conclusion that we will have more than that , but wasn't it you who once said that if we were in the conference playoff final we would only take 25k ? Blunt pencil I hope you're right! No it wasn't me with the 25k comment. I'm always surprised how well supported we are when it comes to the big events - if we made the Conference Playoff Final I'd be disappointed with anything less than 32k (probably a lot more) Fair enough fella, I obviously quoted somebody else , utg

This match is heading for the conference record attendance 8163 set earlier this year Wrexham v Grimsby can we beat it ! Both stands sold out and a good following from Devon 7,053 I reckon ... Won't endanger 8k - will be very surprised if it does ...
