I am wondering which positions need strengthening (if any ) and which players should go ( if any).
I expect a lot will say a goalscorer, but I would like to see a midfielder who can make long accurate passes for the forwards to run onto,a winger and a fullback.
I would like to see Goldberg given some more time as I think he could get some goals.
Anybody agree ? or got other ideas ?

People seem to assume we will add in the Jan window and well we might I was actually wondering now we've hit some form if we'd lose any players to teams in the FL. We definitely need a replacement for DLV and I'd agree about an additional midfielder.

Istm, the form we're in at the moment with Gosling and Leadbitter playing well, we have every position covered, with a replacement. It would be a lottery which position we need strengthening depending on injuries. And, I guess, if Goldberg goes back we'll need a fourth striker. Seems a bit awkward to get a new striker on loan to sit on the bench, though, coz istm Taylor and Blisset both deserve their places atm, and keeping them together only helps their understanding.
Wouldn't want to disturb our front two, or our central mid two (although if Mansell or Sinclair get injured we'd be in trouble - even with Clarke covering) and two from three in central defense is solid. Monky, Gosling, Balanta on the wings was looking like our weak link, but suddenly it doesn't. And Leady, Locky and Browny covering fullback looks good.
Hard to tell if this will last the rest of the season, though but istm this is pretty much exactly what DC would have hoped for at the start of the season, and really, no loans are required atm to fill any gaps.
Of course, someone will get crocked the day after the window closes.

Yes people wanting our players is the other side of the story,at Torquay people were saying that Swindon were looking at Lockyer and Sinclair ( who knows if its true ) keeping the better players could be a problem.

Pretty much all we should need for now is a somewhat creative box-to-box midfielder and we're fine. our strikeforce doesn't look so good but with one of these they'll fare way better.

I would like to see a 'from league 1' loan of a young pacy right back (unless Leadbitter continues demonstrating he really is a different player to the start of the season), so that Lockyer could be jack-of-all-trades supersub injury cover / bench, as i don't think his attacking / distribution is all that good.
And, unless Gosling or Balanta step up their consistency, a 'skippy' winger that can create so Taylor doesn't come back searching for the ball so much.
I'm a great believer in partnerships, so think we should leave Blisset and Taylor to create one.
Cancel Martin's loan - the Ghost of Christmas Past.
But, if no one came in I wouldn't be that disappointed either to tell the truth. Can't see anyone moving on - I think all the players who are actually League 1 or 2 standard are committed to the club for at least the rest of the season.

A couple of weeks ago I would have said a winger, striker and creative midfielder Now, I'm not sure. Maybe stick with the winger to give more options and maintain the competition for places. But I reckon we're doing just fine as well Happy to trust that DC has a plan, doing us OK so far

Strong talk Tubbs will be coming in (he 3 year deals are back!) , I'd send Goldberg and Martin back , get LDV back or a simlilar style player... my main worry is Sinclair going out he really has proved to be a great signing and does all the hard graft and more for the side , if he scored more he be a championship player... he could easily cut it at league level at least and i'd be amazed if other cluns are taking a look at him

We need as much extra quality as the budget will allow to really go for it over the next 18 games. Strike - ideally prolific, midfielder/winger and a defender.
Any thoughts that Lee Brown might be on his way??

If I were DC, I'd be looking for a winger with pace, and experienced goalscorer, and someone creative in the middle. I'd only be looking for players that are exceptional at this level though - just to keep our current players challenged. If that person isn't available, then I would wait until they are.

Any thoughts that Lee Brown might be on his way?? Wouldn't be at all fussed if he did but I can't see it personally. He hasn't done well enough/stood out in any of our games so I don't think there will be any/many clubs clamouring to take him off our hands. I don't want us to change the winning side at present but having Brown in the squad is important because he does bring with him experience and is clearly committed to the Rovers cause. I sincerely hope we don't lose anyone next month bar certain loanees who will be departing. I don't think the club would let anyone leave with us having such a good chance of bouncing back at the first attempt - or at least it would have to be a monstrous bid to tempt us. The rumours of Matt Tubbs refuse to go away which makes me think there may be something in it. Surprisingly, I do now trust the club not to offer a silly contract just to get him on board - not necessarily because they have completely learned all their lessons yet but because DC has his head screwed on. I don't think we are in vital need of any new players but Della Verde (or similar) would be a welcome addition and I do think we'll see a striker come in.

If a bid came in for the Beard of say £250K would we take it ??
I believe he only has a 12 month Contract so would be allowed to talk to clubs in Jan

Sinclair's one big fault is his first touch isn't brilliant, and in the Championship it has to be very good

hope the signings we make are the manager and Sinclair on new contracts. That said Della Verde and Tubbs would be nice.

DC did say in the summer that most of the contracts he was going to offer back then were 1 year deals with 12 months in the club's favour. If that is true in the case of Sinclair we do have some leeway because we can activate that extra year at the end of the season. At that point we could then look at offering him a new contract entirely without worrying about him leaving for free during the summer.
I suppose it depends whether that sort of deal was the one Sincs signed. Whatever happens we need to keep him here - he epitomises everything about us this season.
