As ever Steve, an excellent summary. I cannot work out why some on here expect us to be 10 points clear and promotion certainties. DC has rebuilt the team and at this stage of the season I am very happy at where we find ourselves

At this precise moment in time, I am mildly pissed. However, a point away from home is not disastrous. Important to follow it up with a home win. We are virtually two points per game ffs

Just watched the ScreenSoccer highlights from last night. Blatant handball. Justice was done at the end. Glad Martin Allen hasn't moaned about our late winner, he knows it could have been a lot worse.

We've had this debate to death in past months but how anyone can blame Clarke for relegation is beyond me, it really is. There may have been a couple of decisions he got wrong in the few games he had as manager but he was working with the worst team in BRFC history - a bunch of overpaid, uncommitted wasters. Did DC bring those players in? No. John Ward did. Was it DC that refused to sign a striker because he believed what we had at the club was good enough? No. Again that was John Ward. Did DC lead us for 95% of the season and have us set up so negatively home and away that most of the time the best we could hope for was a draw (and more often not go on to lose because we weren't very good)? No. A certain John Ward was the man who masterminded that. People wanted to blame someone for the relegation (which is fair enough) but instead of aiming their anger at those genuinely responsible they pointed their finger at the young manager who was hung out to dry by JW and NH. Why? Because he was an easy target. Ever since then, these people have decided that everything DC says, does and implements is not acceptable. They said in the summer things like 'there's no chance on God's earth we'll be in the top half let alone the play-offs', 'we've got more chance of going down again than going up' etc... simply because they didn't want to believe DC to succeed. I mean, I had my doubts we'd be up there as well, just like most open-minded and fair Gasheads, but I didn't write us off before a ball was kicked like some. But now these people are making themselves look even more stupid by continuing to moan about him. We are in sixth place and outside the play-offs on goal difference after half the season, which is ten times better than most predicted a few months ago. Considering the massive budget cuts we endured DC has put together a side that not only cares about playing for this football club but one that has more than matched every single other side we've faced this season. We've not once been spanked by anyone and although goal scoring has been a problem we are still in and around the promotion mix, which is testament to how good we must be defensively. The defeat at Barnet was the biggest loss we've suffered and they only beat us due to a huge error from Will Puddy and an unfit Neal Trotman being run ragged by John Akinde (NT has been out best defender overall since then IMO) and they are the team running away with it at the minute. With that in mind we have nothing to fear heading into Tuesday's game. Our manager has now addressed the goalscoring issue by bringing in two new strikers and if all goes to plan we will convert more of our chances now and remain tight defensively. If we can do that we will pick up even more points from now on and it doesn't take a mathematician to work out that it would put us in a wonderful position come the new year. Yes there have been things that could have gone better in the first few months but overall we're having a solid season and there's plenty to build on. DC is young and learning all the time but his confidence and enthusiasm for the job is absolutely superb and he knows exactly what he wants from his players and so far they are delivering. Some of his comments may not have gone down well with some but I completely get his frustration because with some of the moaning that has gone on despite the fact we're right up there is staggering. I am 100% behind DC and think we will get better as the season goes on. I don't think there's a manager available with a proven track record, who knows the Conference well enough, that could feasibly come into the club; and even if there was I wouldn't swap DC right now. Let's get behind him and the team and see where we go. 100% agree with this. Thank you.

Pretty average teams Topper Gas? We are all "Pretty Average" from the middle of the Conference to the middle of League 1. You only have to look at Chester's home form before yesterday - 5 wins and a draw and also beating Southend away in the FA CUP. That is not pretty average form that is Title winning form. You have also not taken into account that out of the Last 10 League games 6 have been away and if you include the cup games we have played 8 out of the last 12 games away from home!! You could have said we have only lost 1 of our last 10 games and that was with 10 men for a long time and we still outplayed the opposition. The only worthwhile statistic is that we sit in 6th place two points off second place and I would have taken that at the start of the season- in fact as long as we are in a similar or better position come the New Year then I would say that Daryl Clarke has done a good job. Remember as well that we are a notoriously poor away side AND notoriously poor in the first half of the season!! You can't use L2 as a point of reference and not include the defeat to a team cast adrift at the bottom of that division, who hadn't won any of their previous 12 games before facing Rovers. You have included the Tranmere defeat in the '8 out of the last 12 have been away from home', but left it out when mentioning 1 defeat in 10 games. Admire your determination to find a positive way to look at things, but as you say, statistics can be misleading, so how about these: 3 wins from the last 11 games, and one of those was against a Southern League outfit. Chester are only in this division because Hereford went into meltdown, they are not even a full time club and set this season's playing budget based on them being in the Conference North. ''Pretty average'' for Rovers is towards the top of the 3rd tier, not drawing against bankrupt and part time 5th tier (or 6th tier in the case of where Chester should be) rubbish. Shag, we are where we are. We have a team who are united and pulling in the same direction, first time in years. Moan if you want, it could be a lot, lot worse.

Agree with everything here. Obviously disappointed to lose a two goal advantage but to be fair to Chester they threw everything at us for ten minutes to get back in the game. Once they had equalised the pace of the game dropped right off, presumably because they were knackered. Can't really fault any individuals, although McChrystal and Gosling looked off the pace in comparison to the rest of the team. Would've taken a point at the start of the game.

As long as the sale of the site proceeds, it is up to Sainsburys what they do with it. Travellers site would be great.

Just read the article in the paper. Cheap journalism pointing out Sainsbury's Christmas ad and how they are going to demolish the Mem. What was interesting was a Sainsbury spokesman defending the development and explaining how a permanent memorial will be created. The most I've heard from Sainsbury's in ages!!

Credit to Nigel Turner for doing this programme. Coverage of Rovers and City on BBC and HTV/ITV West is now woeful. Remember when there used to be an occasional live league game? I'm thinking the 4-0 win over City at Trumpton. I think the idea is to try and provide the content we used to get from local TV. The days of Roger Malone, Ian Seymour, Dave Passmore and even Jed Pitman were truly a golden era. The production values will improve.

The unpredictability of football injuries. Can't blame anyone for it. It'll be far more difficult getting Balanta's attitude right. He does have a reputation, allegedly.

One more time. A paid employee of our club in a reasonably senior position, looking pretty beered up, is singing 'You're s**t, and you know you are' with few of his mates. They are aiming their little tune at two Dorchester players warming up five yards away. I'm sorry, that is not appropriate behaviour for a bloke in his position. How anyone can lump this in with half of the Mem joining in with 'Sheedhead, sheedhead' at an ex City player is frankly ridiculous. I am not some happy clappy f**king holier than thou type. Read my posts on the racism thread.

Hmmm, what do you guys think of a club representative, Mr Ian Holtby, singing with a few other blokes, "Your s***, and you know you are" at very close quarters, to the Dorchester subs as they were warming up on the touchline? I cannot believe the club employs an uncouth clown like that. Thoroughly embarrassing. What a fing tool you are Ooh, ooh, calling me names?? Read my posts. There's only one tool shag, and it ain't me. Smiley face
