Jeffrey Archer probably claimed to support City as well. Sadly not, maybe we could swap him for Massive Attack? (they are welcome to John Cleese and Baldrick btw) You must be joking anyone who knew the mob from massive attack evolved from the wild bunch would strongly disagree with you when they weren't mixing vibes they stabbing rovers fans all around town and were responsible for major injuries outside the queens head before Derby game jan 80 I had many a run in with them must notables in princess court club which I still have the scars from although to be honest they were quite even handed would glass women as well as men

Scoring against us one week, and for us the next? Has there been a vice-versa?? Phil batter scored against us twice for Walsall in one week in August 1977 the second on the night elvis died unfortunately he was playing for us on both occasions

That feels like a loss, certainly a lost opportunity. Time for everyone to wake up we need to get out of this division this season this is indicative of what we have become drawing against part timers it's not good enough we may well be in the play off positions but we are poor mark my words we can not settle for this dross we need a proven goalscorer or we will end up like Lincoln the next month will make or break our season if we are not in the top two after playing torquay on New Year's Day the support will drop off I fear the worst for this club

You can apply that to most games in The Premier League! The only decent atmosphere comes from away fans, who in most cases are generally the die hards who go week in, week out! In fact you can apply that to most football clubs in general! I agree the North London derby is powderpuff though! Chelsea V Tottenham is way more heated between the sets of fans, its pure hatred! I would also put Chelsea/Spurs V West Ham above it too! Chelsea V Millwall although they don't play eachother very often isn't pleasant either! I was at Stamford Bridge for the cup game back in 1995! The most intimidated I've ever been at a football match! If you want to beat that then go to a game in Poland. No need to pick Kracow V Cracovia or Legia Warsaw. Just a lower tier game. I don't care how "experienced" people are, they will brick it. Or an old firm reserve game with over a hundred arrests

Sex, Punk Rock and "rucking" for others Latin, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and the Green'Un (whilst waiting for Dick Emery or Two Ronnies) for me alas. Maybe in my future lives, I will try to be more radical. I did graduate to Kool and the Gang, R&J's and the North Enclosure once I reached 17. Veni vidi vici for all you philistines I came I saw I conquered pretty well sums up the eighties for me

Just a side-note on Eastville memories and football hooliganism. I watched on Youtube last night the original BBC Panorama documentary on Millwall from 1977 - Harry the Dog and the F Troop. Missed it first time around as, unlike Harry, I was busy doing my Latin homework via Kennedy's Primer followed by English Literature. Gutted to be told the next day that I had missed it. I was in the Tote on 5th November 1977 though, although very much out of harm's way. Have a look (easily found in Youtube archives). It's fascinating to understand the "dark" atmosphere of that era and the entrenched attitudes from the documentary. It's a classic social history portrayal. For many of my mates and me this was a real coming of age day punk rock was taking hold had left school in the summer of 77 I remember millwall were out early and us young uns were spotters as the day went on say many things I had not witnessed at a football match or indeed anywhere else after the game we headed into town as we all had tickets to see the clash at the exhibition centre one of the best concerts I have ever seen and then came out onto the centre to see world war three had broken out between rovers millwall bikers grebos and just has the old bill got it almost under control 2 coaches of s**theads got dropped off after playing forest away after leaving home at about 9 am I eventually got home after spending all my cash and having to walk to mangotsfield about 3 o clock ah those were the days meet people that day for the first time who are still good friends today

You obviously never went in the trident in the 70s or the dirty duck in the 90s Or experienced the brutal mayhem when the Frenchay Massive fought the Downend Headhunters for bits of turf along the Overndale Road ghetto. Very drool young man but I say you don't really know what you didn't experience some of those boys would be up there with the best around and talking about ghetto some of their families were from the gorbals and falls rd which make Easton look like CliftonClifton

I'm suggesting that the state football in Bristol is anything other than a disgrace. But nothing of what you've said would benefit Bristol Rovers in any way, shape or form should BCFC1982 be in the Premier League. I was talking about the whole city as opposed to just you or BRFC. However you could draw a really long bow and state that the revenue would increase across the city, increasing the ability of the city to promote sport in the region. We were only one ageing fat pr*cks lucky volley away from the Prem too..... And only one place from non league and eight minutes from not existing

He's probably as far from an egomaniac as you can get. Give over, he's bought up every Bristol sporting team bar two (one which he does want to get his mits on) and rebranded them in his own brand. The bloke is an egomaniac, it'll all come to fruition soon and I'll be sat here with my popcorn. All landsdown needs to do is buy chasers and he will own all the s**t clubs in bristol and by the way don't go taking too many liberties in Coventry or you might come unstuck big time

But the bottom fell out of the student accommodation market. However, I do wonder at the wisdom of letting planning permission lapse for the original Mem redevelopment. In the latter days of the Tote, it always used to amuse me how everyone would try to squeeze under cover in the rain, especially the lean-to on the North side. Has the bottom really fallen out of the student accommodation market? It has continued to be very strong across the North of England with many starts and completions. It didn't stop simply because Opal fell apart. There are quite a number of other builders that I am aware of through my colleagues in a property team that I worked with. With regards to the rain I can remember the steam rising in the Tote on rainy days as every one squeezed in together, mind you it could also have been due to some not wanting to venture in the rain to the loos....... Article on bbc news today saying students are sleeping in bunk beds because of shortage of rooms for new students and next year they are relaxing number of students so problem will get worse . While we are on the subject of what to do with the mem why don't we see if the prison service want to buy it for an annexe for horfield as the way the courts are jailing people for running on football pitches we are going to need a lot more

Its Bruce Craig .... he was two year above me at School .
Loves Rugby little interest to date in football . Wealthy guy not the billionaire though . Mr Lansdown is wealthier by a long way.
Pharmaceutical logistics; not a subject on our curriculum when I was at St. Brendan's College. We were still using writing slates and chalk when I was there, and don't start me on those bloody inkwells! And what about the flying blackboard erasers and the leather strap

I would prefer to wait until such time as we have a new stadium to move to ourselves, before speculating too much on the future arrangements that could come about. I'm not suggesting they come in as tenants but as partners. They have cash for rec redevelopment, we could have cash from mem sell to housing. Between the 2 enough cash to get uwe built. This could be a plan b if sainsburys are allowed to pull out. This probably belongs in another section, but I figure the majority of people dive straight in here! So enjoy a bit of Mr Gunstone & (for those of you who are old enough) a few Eastville memories! I don't miss eastville it was a right s**t hole filthy toilets what I do remember is the people I met there mates who I still have today and many who are no longer with us . at the time I grew up on those terraces and in the dodgy pubs white swan black swan sugar loaves fox three blackbeards and of coarse the queens head we all thought it fantastic great memories of distant times now football just seems devoid of atmosphere and characters I don't miss eastville or twerton and wouldn't miss the mem but I do miss the people I met in those grounds

4 of us will be meeting up in the Royal Archers next Wednesday the 15th October. It would be good if anyone, who uses the forum, could get to the pub. I am saying 20:00 hrs and I'll buy a pint for anyone that decides they have the time and inclination to come. I have seen infighting and Ill feeling over the past few weeks and I know that, when we met up, as an fans forum thing, it made for many then seeing that it becomes much more difficult to make nasty posts at people you have got to know. I understand its not a great day to do it but it breaks the week up and I am sure will be a good laugh. Hoping to see you there people. Jools Best not start playing up in there or you'll have the brothers Grimm to answer to
