Truly tragic and my thoughts are with Paul's family. Now this is just an idea and I do not know anybody with any clout BRFC in order to organise this but perhaps the club could invite a team from St Peters to the next home game in order to do a bucket collection in his memory. Walk around the pitch at half time, bar areas, terracing etc
It appears that Paul was a supporter of charity and even though not many of us knew him he was a member of the Rovers Family and we should be able to honour his memory if we can. If anyone knows BSS perhaps they can ask him to approach the board and ask if this is possible. Great idea, didn't know Paul but this sounds like a great way to pay tribute to him

Stayed in UK in the end, got to airport but didn't know the plane was arriving until the final 20 minutes and wasn't quite ready. Nope, I heard he was worried ferry wasn't watertight actually

Our ethos until the last few games have been built on a very tight defence and pressurising the opposition. We had two players on the pitch today who were never going to provide that, that is Lawrence and Easter, so effectively we only had 8 outfield players who were prepared to play the Bristol Rovers way. With Lawrence and Easter both playing on the left hand side it left Brown dreadfully exposed as neither of the other two were going to do the hard yards and track back. Consequently it meant our centre back was drawn out to cover which then pulled the defence completely out of shape. If I was Lee Mansell I'd be fuming at being subbed when clearly he was putting his usual shift in but Lawrence was being so ineffective. Too often Lawrence was either being given the run around by the Pompey midfield or else was watching as the Pompey attack developed. It's no co-incidence that we've lost our last two games with him starting in the team and provides no energy or urgency in it. There's something not quite right with the squad at the moment, I hope a rotten apple hasn't been inserted in it. Bang on. Felt very wrong today and wasn't just formation. Players getting frustrated with each other, which we've not seen for ages. I worry the "competition for places" strategy is pissing off our stable team

Sorry...I must have been out that day! It went on for more than one day I think it was a story from Vital, along the lines of UWE assessing viability of building a scaled down version of the stadium. Indeed and I think if you add in south glos to the equation, you may have 2 parts of "the consortium". If true, stands to reason Higgs not keen as whilst it potentially gets him access to stadium as a tenant, it reduces revenue generation and a sustainable club plans, so he won't be keen and may need a commercially savvy adviser to help him out of this particular corner. Or is that too sensible?

Surely we will get nothing from RL moving to WBA. That would only happen if Southampton had put a sell-on clause in to their sale of him to Liverpool...doubtful given his age and where he was going Even in the unlikely case of there being a sell on cluse, would there be any profit...doubt that So lets not believe RL going to WBA will be financially beneficial to Rovers...... It's been confirmed by the club that if he moves in we do have a sell on clause. How tight is it?

Click on chiefscouts image in his post and it should open "send message" option depending on how you access it Wow Thats a pic you show i remember well. he is a very modest unassuming man. but boy what a goalscorer. i well remember Paul Randals debut for Rovers. and his goals that dispatched Southampton. I had the Bukta kit and wore it with pride but was devastated when he left during the Christmas school hols in 78, was too young to understand why my hero would want to leave, so was great to read in his biog that he (probably) didn't want to go after all! I know we'd have won in the snow vs Ipswich with the orange ball if he'd stayed . . .

I have Sky but not Sky Sports or BT Sports. I understand you can buy BT Sports via Sky but does anyone know if you can buy it for one month or do you have to go for 12 months ? Also it's 7.00am,can you order it from Sky and access it immediately or am I too late to be able to get it in time for today's match ? Looks possible to get for 1 month only on Sky . . . www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/bt-sport-on-sky-packages/?sport-on-sky

Very good perspective Swiss. I agree with much of it in that Sainsburys is run by human beings who have hopes and fears and fundamentally want to do the right thing for themselves and others. With hindsight it is quite clear to me that relations had soured by time permission was granted else the issue if the inadequate permission would have been known and discussed before it got to planning committee. Doesn't matter in my view how big the deal is, people are busy and will put effort in to deals where they can work with the people and avoid those where they can't. I bet it's what we all do in our work and personal lives. This just became a difficult deal, exacerbated by TRASH. Here we are today and it still is. Hardball has become our only tool left and we should expect Sainsburys to give as good as they get. I just hope it's watertight for all our sakes.

The lady won't be hurried.
But it's an interesting question that's hard to answer without seeing the contract. I would hope that the board won't allow the deal to fall through due to a small shortfall. And maybe that is why they went MSP route, to ensure they still have cash at hand for this should the need arise

July 10, 2013: Sainsbury's informs the club that the planning permission is not acceptable because it breaches three conditions. The club waives two of them but the condition about deliveries remains outstanding. 1-0 to Sainsburys and they parked the bus, breathing a sigh of relief. They have an option on a site in the bank if they choose to use it.
To switch analogies for a second we tried hard to get the lady in the taxi as Swiss describes, but she was having none of it thank you very much. But rather than go home alone, we stay out and keep drinking hoping she will change her mind. . .

See thread about cynical time wasting. Sainsburys were also happy to deploy this tactic very early on and officials didn't really help us much Every application and appeal was lodged within the required time. Doesn't this go back to what Swiss was talking about yesterday, managing the relationship with our customer? Maybe. In my view they lost interest pretty soon after 1st application was filed. They could have requested modifications during application process rather than waiting for it to be granted then saying it didn't meet their needs. Then not attending the JR hearing . . .

If you are top and lose to a bunch of rag asses like Colchester, it's fine to blame both the pitch and referee in the same sentence, apparently

Might as well have done the interview in that free paper you can pick up in the supermarket. I doubt guff weekly is the place serious investors go when looking for their next big thing. Indeed, British expats missing home not oil magnates I would imagine.
