Well, us lot bickering on message boards won't do the job. The answer is out there. People like Andy Tate at Man Utd and Robbie Lyle at Arsenal have shown the power of social media. You need a figure head and a message. And of course the will to do the thing. Yes, perhaps. But a poor comparison. Two very wealthy clubs with a brand to protect may indeed feel such "power of social media" We have no such brand. The comparison is Bury and Stockport. Social Media will have zero impact in those circumstances. Don't agree. It's all relative. If I understand Swiss correctly, he's talking about how to organise / galvanise a supporters' voice. A few people meeting in a tent behind a pub won't do it. 10 people shouting as they walk from the Civil Service Club won't do it. People wearing Black & Gold scarves fighting on the north terrace won't do it. Social media is how people communicate now. I know that you and I are still getting to grips with telegrams and semaphore, but there's even a website for luddites now. This battle is lost.

But the power is only as strong as the susceptibilty of its target. Are the current shareholders susceptible? To the degree they just realise the asset and walk away, under pressure, yes I guess so. Is that a win?

It's a carefully managed communication channel that has made Robbie a millionaire. And here's the reason why you mocking it is a self defeating argument, you already know what it is. I'll challenge you to go to Emirates and ask 60,000 to name 1 Rovers' player, I'll bet you that not more than the 10 people who double up as Rovers and Arse fans and happen to be there that day know a single thing about our club, but you know about Robbie. Edit. You've got me started now. You do know that on the day that Emery was sacked, Sky / BT / BBC were desperate to find Robbie to try to get any inside information? Do we want to be like ArsenalFanTV and have a global audience, the ear of the club and be respected by all of the national media outlets, well, if you say not, I guess you know best.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think any such campaign would work at Rovers and because we still have a lot of supporters who show faith in the owners and are in denial It makes my teeth itch the sheer weight of supporters who hold the view “at least I have a club to support”. It tells Starnes that laughing at the fans is acceptable because they will accept it. It tells Wael that as long as he doesn’t fold the club he can do whatever he wants and he has a captive audience who will lap it up. There are literally zero consequences for poor stewardship and mockery of the fans. Unreal.

I think we should have got rid of Nichols after the first season. To play him now as a striker is unacceptable, but what can I seriously do about it? Not go. Voice opinion. Scream and shout. He's still on the bench and my teeth itch at that......but surely supporting the club you purport to love and sing and celebrate that fact is better than the alternative of not supporting it? In this hour of need?

It's worked well so far through Eastville, Twerton, Ashton, and Mem though... What would be your suggestion?

It's worked well so far through Eastville, Twerton, Ashton, and Mem though... What would be your suggestion? Well, that’s the question isn’t it? Ideally I’d like to see a campaign such as that by Blackpool supporters. Withdraw funding from the club, that’s the only language these people understand. Football is bloody annoying in that the custodians of any club leech like parasites off the sense of loyalty that football engenders. In any other sphere of business you take your custom elsewhere and invest in a better product that matches your values. Sport aims not to work like that and this is to the benefit of football club owners everywhere. But there comes a time, I feel when you have to test that logic. Starnes himself mentioned that bringing crowds back factored into their decision to appoint Garner- so we now know that they will listen if fans with hold their money. That’s the only thing we can do. A protest movement would be also an avenue.... ....but let.’s be honest. We as a fanbase do not have the gumption that Blackpool supporters have. Precisely because people are just happy to have a club to support. It then becomes that age old quandary: is there any point having a team to support if it does not have the means to be competitive? Existing merely to tread water in league 2 for an eternity with no hope for better sounds like a special kind of hell.

I'm testing the logic all the time. In my own way.
I understand your frustrations. I think we all do and that's not patronising, we all want more. Who wouldn't?
I've popped this in other places, but where we are now is probably where our historical average is....top two thirds of division 3 football.
For the record, when I started watching Rovers we were in 2nd Division, but the last 20 years have spent vast majority under where we are now.
We are mid table, 3rd division club with asperations of more.... there's 25-odd clubs at least that feel the same.... what's special is it means something to me. And you. Don't give up on your faith and trueness..... I'm guessing you might have sung about that once or twice?
It is the question. Support. Not blindly, but support. The club needs you.

How the hell did Yeovil, Luton and Burton get to the championship ? How did Brighton and Bournemouth get to the Prem we were playing both only a few years ago?

The club needs you. 2 things in reply to that. 1. Debt has never been this high, and it's secured against the stadium, that's got to worry even the maddest rose tinter, surely? 2. Faith is the excuse that people use for believing stuff that they don't have evidence for. There is literally nothing that I can't say to you that I believe and choose to do so on faith. It's utter nonsense and has no place in conversation with anybody who is either sober or above about 7 years of age.

If nobody is prepared to put their head above the parapet, and in real life rather than an internet handle or social media account, then nothing will ever happen. It’s that feckin simple.
It needs someone or a small group to contact local media (press, radio, tv) and issue a press release with a named contact. Most outlets are desperate for news. It took me 36 hours from Dennis Rofe leaving to being interviewed at work by Roger Malone. Without internet or mobile phones.
If you want something to happen then get passionate, get motivated and get active. If not than STFU and stop destabilising the club.

Brighton - took over by a professional gambler who happened to be a good businessman, work closely with local council and build a ground from scratch. Our commercial manager should be able to help there.

Fair points there and it’s hard to try and see it like a business and use the term “customer” to refer to myself to make withdrawing custom it more palatable. I’m going to try and make my point by still going to away games and supporting the team but giving home games a wide berth until either the ownership changes or they display more competence/leadership. In all honesty that isn’t going to be much of a change because I live away as it is and only get to home games on odd occasions when I am back visiting, but I will attempt refrain from doing that until such time as the above conditions are met so I can feel at least I am doing *something*. One thing I do regret is I backed my friends who live in Bristol when they talked of avoiding games under Coughlan because of the football. I’ve definitely learned a lesson from that that winning football is never to be sneezed at. God damn I wish we could wind the clock back and head off Mansfield’s interest- I probably wouldn’t be so annoyed about the situation now! Our handling of everything that has followed has been piss poor and is the last straw for me that we do not have an owner who is fit to operate the club. The manager situation right now is a farce and we are crying out for strong leadership- what we get is Starnes laughing at us. I need to make a stand of some sort in response.

We are shafted as things stand, unless of course these owners have a change of heart with regard to their funding model, but the charge on the stadium kind of gives a clue about the likelihood of that. The rest of what you say, I totally agree, what we need right now is a John Malyckyj or Kim Stucky to step forward and give some direction to supporters.

I would be happy with anyone to step forward. But no one is prepared to, so everyone loses.
