Doesn't look that bad in my opinion and it serves the purpose it was intended for. We very rarely fill the East Terrace, so the only inconvenience is that some people have had to shuffle 20m over.
It will be interesting to see what demand there is for future games, when open sale is allowed.
apart from the pillars, it doesn't look too bad in that photo I'm wondering what all the fuss is about It's a very flattering photo! See it from the side in the context of the rest of the ground and it looks shocking.

Spending more money then ever, yes. But isn't on things that are supposed to benefit the club in the long run, more/better staff coaches, land for a training facility (why it hasn't started is another issue), employing fresh people and ideas and things that just need doing because they have been ignored for so long.
I don't blame Nick Higgs for chasing the UWE per se, but more the myopia of the venture at the expense of the other things falling down around them.
I am not even saying the Al-Qadis are the answer to our prayers, but they have been keeping the club going. Doesn't mean they can't do better they can, but they have also done a hell of a lot that has not happened before. Stuff we sure wouldn't have seen under the previous stewardship and we would still be playing in the same stadium we are now, with the same old faces running the show
Has it been a great change? It hasn't been perfect, but some of the arguments and criticisms of the new ownership have been blown way out of proportion (and that isn't necessarily aimed at anyone on this message board in general)
People have bought into a dream that was never sold in the first place
If DS want out, then as I say it's about the right deal for all parties. Whilst I disagree with the way Swiss posted it, I understand the sentiment. We as fans should absolutely be ready if something goes south quickly and puts the club in trouble, however we all know Rovers fans can shout a lot on the internet, but when it comes to action..... at least Vaughn has started a petition for the stand. It's a start. Maybe he should have gone for the full no confidence vote in the owners, for less ridicule
Poacher turned gamekeeper? Maybe. But I have come to peace with things I can do little to control or affect, I just can't abide the endless stick from some sections of the fan base and what appears to have been a series of 'leaks' from someone/people deliberately trying to undermine the owners from Day 1
Quite what improvements have they made.the south stand was already there.there were plans in place for the South West stand .oh yes we have new hand driers a caravan behindo the south west stand that is sometimes open to sell alcohol.and yes we have got lots more staff and a development squpdate but at what price nearly 2m per year losses as opposed to 600.000 the last year of the old regime.with a turnover of app 5m how can you justify that sort of spending when in 2006 the aim of the group you were part of was to cut back on spending yet now you are encouraging it.there are a good many things that I hear from people I know and have worked with around the country that I keep to myself because I cannot verify the veracity of it and even if I could I still wouldn't tell. When the current owners bought the club I gave it a gaurded welcome but did not go overboard because I have seen these sort of things many times and most end in tears.I hope they do get it right because if they don't there will not be a rovers in 10 years time and there will not be a Dunford to come to our rescue next time Since you put it like that that is scandalous- debts up from 600k to multiple millions a year! And to think the old board get slagged off for their financial imprudence! And all for what? A development team that achieves nothing, an office in London and a load of middle management that is not business critical.

'A fair few'? Yes you're absolutely right, I totally forgot about Russe, Kelly and umm....err... DC seems loathe to use the development team players in favour of players loaned in from the league below so as long as that is the case it is burning money the club doesn't have just like this office in London.

Well, players that have all made first team appearances after coming through the Development Team? Russe, Kelly, Menayese, Broom, Andre, Dünnwald and Hargreaves. Genuinely, I feel the development side has been one of the huge positives of the Al Qadi tenure, developing players in house and progressing them through to the first team is excellent and should be applauded. There's lots of things you can throw at the Al Qadi's but the development squad isn't one...

The only thing I would say is that isn't quite the full story- it is all very well saying each one of these guys made one appearance each before DC decided he doesn't rate them and they are never to be seen again. Broom for example is no longer at the club is he? The value of the development squad will be in how many actually become first team players rather than how many titles they win and so far we have seen Russe make a great debut only to disappear until recently and Kelly have a battle on his hands to displace a journeyman loaned in from the league below. I am not saying they are bad players but if DC doesn't rate any of them (for whatever reason) to play them semi-regularly then you have to wonder if the cost is worth it when we are losing money hand over fist under the current owners.

Well if you ask yourself the question "does a league one club losing approx 2 million per annum need an office in London costing circa 250-300k" I wonder what sort of answer you would come up with? The justification given at the AGM was along the lines of: "All the premier league teams have a London premises these days". Well yeah that's great and all but...we're not a premier league club!

What more are you expecting from the Development Squad in a 14 month period? It's a finishing school for young players to bridge the gap between the U18's and the First Team. The last time we chucked a load of lads straight into the first team was in the relegation season to the Conference where Clarke, Lockyer, Harrison, Keary, Santos, Harding and Lucas were all involved towards the end. Rovers in the last decade have had a fine history of blooding youngsters developed by the club with Saturday's victory including four players that played u18 or development football for the club. I'm hopeful in the coming years we'll see more, and more graduates make an impact on the first team.

I just don't get why people are "Embarrassed". It must be a sign of low self-esteem or some sort of inferiority complex about our better off neighbours.
It is there for a specific purpose following supporter feedback requesting the provision of a specific Family seated area. Similar to work on the shop, bars, ticket office, etc.
Rovers currently have one of the lowest seat:capacity ratios in the EFL and this incrementally improves this situation at least on a temporary basis.
It is the same, or similar construction to the South and South West stands and there was more moaning when we started this season without the SW stand back up.
It is by the club's admission, temporary whilst we are working on a much better solution. It has been largely paid for through sponsorship (I understand, although the signage was not in place on Saturday).
It slightly reduces the capacity of the East Terrace, but that terrace has not been anywhere near 70-75% of capacity this season (i.e. no one that regularly stands in the East Terrace would not be able to stand a few yards along as a result of the Bristol Energy Stand. I did wonder if the existing Family Terrace would revert to general admission following construction, but to be fair it seems as though this is a deliberate attempt to grow the junior support, rather than just shuffle sections around. Surely, that has to be applauded.

Irony 1970s ~ 2016 we're Ragbag Rovers, we will fight to the end, we shall never give up, burn our ground down, chuck us out, we'll move to Bath, we'll follow Rovers wherever we play, we'll put our money into the club, we'll follow you into the depths of the Conference and out again.....
2018 ~ Why are we Ragbag Rovers, why aren't we like City82, we're an embarrassment, why aren't our owners spending billions, we demand you spend money and spend it now or else we'll scream and scream until we are sick...... or set up a petition to say how so embarrassed we are!

The difference is that these owners let a new stadium slip through their fingers and we've not had any kind of an explanation as to how or why that happened, all we had was a bit of finger pointing towards UWE themselves, which they didn't dignify by becoming embroiled in name calling. Then came the crucial bit, Wael starting boasting about his team of experts and how a new stadium was, what was the word he used, essential was it, for the club? Everyone was invited to shut up and let him and his team who have built 12 stadiums get on with things. 2 years later we have a stand that looks as if it fell out of a Hornby box. Of course people are disappointed, especially as it happened in the same week as 1982 unveiled plans for a £100,000,000 extension to their stadium, and guess what, I think they'll build it. They are our rivals, of course we measure ourselves against them, but not for much longer, they are light years ahead of us right now.

Still not quite the full story, as the Development Squad games can also be used to gain match fitness for those returning from injury (Parts and Broadbent of recent) or for experience for those not always getting game time (AJ played last one for example..and scored)

"Slip through their fingers" suggests ineptitude, but as Wael said, "The UWE Stadium deal fell through because we didn't feel it was right for the club, that's the only reason". Call me a fool, but I trust this statement being backed by the Al Qadi family's investment expertise.
Whether the team of stadium experts are still involved, or whether they were to any great extent is not clear, but that has nothing to do with the temporary family stand. But it is not over yet. If the optimists like me are wrong in one or two years time, then I'll probably join in the discontent, but some people just seem to want to hound Wael out of the club, which will leave us far, far worse off than we were before.

This isn't intended to be having a go at you, it's just how I see the situation. 'Not right for The Club' doesn't mean anything. They blamed UWE for not responding in a timely fashion. They have had well over a year since we found out that UWE wasn't happening, they said they already had their Plan B, if that were the case they would have been working on that for longer, what does anyone in Bristol or any other local planning departments know about it? Sadly, I think we both suspect what the answer is. Team of top experts indeed. Nobody wants one owner over another, what everybody wants is owners who are honest. If we are stuck in a dump of a stadium for the foreseeable future just tell us so, we are used to it, it's OK, honestly. If no money will be spent trying to push the team on into the 2nd division and we are just waiting for a team to fall into place that can win promotion, that's cool, again, just tell us so, but don't spout platitudes that are obviously nonsense.

I can see a rocky road ahead because of the conflict between Dwane wanting all their money back and the new people needing some of that money to enable their plans to work. The fact that the negotiations are dragging on and rumoured dates are put forward and then missed lends credence to this theory hmmm.....

It is just that I have witnessed business takeover negotiations first hand and know that things are not always what they seem. Outsiders are often very pleased with themselves for being "ITK". They become convinced everything will run smoothly and want it to happen so badly that they ignore the complexities of the deal and start thinking along the lines of "they are bound to cough up eventually". you know when you read or hear something that resonates as true the big dream of owning a successful football club starts to collide with the cold hard financial facts....

I don't believe even our near neighbours have one Especially when the incumbents who would use it do not even live in the UK. Also even with the cost of property in London I doubt a small office should cost that much per year. Where is it located, Mayfair?!
